Hi, I am doing 4 node AHV cluster decomission. I did all the steps and finally gave cluster destroy and ensure it was destroyed completely. I want to do factory reset of all the nodes where the hypervisor /cvm configurations like hostname, IP etc will we wiped out. Let me know the procedure on this. Thanks.
I need to edit XML <feature> <hyperv mode> <cpu mode> by command “virsh edit vm_name”on the host.but when powered off VMs there not show UUID on any host. acli vm.update cannot edit XML file like “virsh edit vm_name”
Hi,Please help me on below quarry, while migrating the vm getting below issue, if it is ports issue, please help me which ports need to allow from firewall side.
Hello, I am seeking your assistance with enabling replication on my cluster, which consists of 5 servers and 60 VMs. I am undecided between Metro mode and Asynchronous mode on Prism Central. Given that I have two clusters using Metro-type replication, we encounter difficulties when Metro mode is activated, as clients experience significant slowdowns on their VMs. This is why I am considering enabling Asynchronous replication on Prism Central. My question is: if I activate Asynchronous replication on Prism Central while other clusters are using Metro mode, will this have any impact? Thank you for your help.
How can I find out the address of UUID when it is powered off? I need to edit some custom option by command “virsh edit vm_name” before power on.
I have taken a bare metal server backup which is running windows server 2016. need to to know Nutanix VM support this kind of backup. if not how can i restore bare metal backup.
Currently, my AOS Version is 6.5, Nutanix requires upgrading to AOS 6.5.3, but I want to upgrade to a newer version. How do you know that the upcoming AOS version will not affect the current AHV version?
Hi Team,We are considering deploying a Nutanix cluster environment to meet best practices while addressing our current demands. We plan to set up Site A as the production cluster and Site B as the disaster recovery cluster.Nutanix Disaster Recovery Solutions offer two options: Protection Domain-Based and Prism Central-Based, along with different replication modes such as Sync, NearSync, and Async. If we choose the Protection Domain-Based solution, for Sync (Metro Availability) we plan to deploy one cluster at each site (A and B), a VM witness in a VMware environment at Site C (which will be registered with Prism Element at each site), and a Prism Central at either Site A or Site B. The built-in continuous backup will protect Prism Central, and it will manage the Prism Elements of each site.If we opt for the Prism Central-Based solution, which offers more advanced features like protection policies and recovery plans, I understand that the witness is a service integrated with Prism Centra
Hello,We have an old VM that is in our Nutanix cluster. It is running an old version of Windows server, and our Cyber department does not want it connected to the network. There has been a request to retrieve historic data from the server. Is there a way to boot the server with the network disconnected and use a USB drive connected to the Nutanix host to export the data? If there is no way to do that what other possibilities will work? Can the virtual disk from the old server be mounted on a new network connected VM? Thanks
Hi team,When I try to log into the PRISM web interface, I get the error message "Unable to authenticate. Please contact the Nutanix administrator." This has never happened before. What should I do in this situation?

Okay, so I am still seeing weird behavior on my AHV server. At present I am unable to log into the console. Let’s say the username password is root:test. It’s not, but let’s say it is. I’ve added vCPU to the VM but on the OS is not appearing same with the configuration. Please suggest me.
Create your own virtual networking / security lab without having to purchase hardware.Eve-Ng is similar to another popular networking/security tool called GNS3. I’ve run (GNS3 successfully on HyperV.)Both products are network emulation hypervisors that allow you to, say, load real IOS images from your environment to run them as virtual appliances. You can emulate routers, switches, firewalls, WAPs, clients, web servers, etc. Then you can test IOS upgrades, routing changes, or whatever you want without having to risk messing with your live environment. It’s also a great tool for education. The environment has a visual dashboard that allows you to see your network in a GUI, similar to Cisco Packet Tracer, GNS3, or MS Visio.Eve-ng is based on KVM and appears to be running very well nested inside AHV.https://www.eve-ng.net/You will need to prepare AHV to allow the VM to run as a nested hypervisor. The following commands will allow you to do that and so far that is all that was needed to ge
I have a cluster of 7 nodes of which 2 are Lenovo HX3320 with 480GB SSD + 6 2TB HDD and I need to replace the 480GB ones with 3.86TB or larger, due to recent growth in the number of nodes in the cluster. What is the correct procedure to make the change?
Hi Teams, I’m trying to install Vcenter 6.7 on a nestred ESX6.7u3 ESXI but i’ve this error.I find it strange because the installation of ESX went without any problemIs there a CLI command to enable this option like in Wokstation Pro ?Thx for your help.
Hello,I’m new to Nutanix, we just started to work with the system and I have a small problem.Unlike VMWare Nutanix doesn’t have PowerShell Module so I’m working directly with the API.My problem is that I want to create automation for set categories and tags based on variables like the disk/VM name etc. I can’t find a way to use a token for security reasons and not send the username and password as Base64 which isn’t secure.
I would like to create a nested vSphere environment on a Nutanix cluster for testing move.I downloaded the last ova from Broadcom flying and configured the NIC model to E1000 on VM but when ESXi boots, I’ve always a NIC error.(“ no compatible network adapter found…..”)Help appreciate. Thanks, nested image > Nested_ESXi8.0u3_Appliance_Template_v1.ovaAll AHV platform up to date.
Hi team,I have some confusion kindly give us an clarity, One of my customer planning to deploy vSphere with Nutanix Cluster and what are the advantages to using AHV Nutanix Cluster and Esxi Nutanix Cluster…What are the extra features are there to use vSphere Nutanix Cluster….? why we have to integrate the vCenter with the Prism Element…? what are the advantages..?and what things we have to do in vCenter level after cluster deploying…….. please give an clarity…….

Is there a requirement to have ESX enterprise plus licenses in an nutanix metro availability with manual failover/startup in case of issues in 1 cluster?or will vmware standard licenses do? I don’t see the need for Ent+ licenses but had different feedback in the field. thanks!
Hello Team. <issue summary>Windows server 2016 VM was restored after async DR to another cluster. If I check through Prism or CVM acli, the local vdisk looks normal in the list. However, some local vDisks are not recognized inside Windows OS.The disks are not identified in "Create and Format Hard Disk Partitions" at all.The weird thing is that other local vdisk looks normal.VG attached in DAS way looks normal vdisk.async DR was performed from AOS 5.20.5 to AOS 6.5.5.5. <Current Environment>- AOS 6.5.5.5- OS : Windows Server 2016 Standard- VirtIO : 1.2.3- vdisk bus : scsi If you restore it from the AS-IS cluster and check it, the local vdisk looks normal on the OS.In a TO-BE cluster, some local v disks are not recognized by the OS.Has anyone had a similar experience? If you have any, please tell me about the solution or cause. Thank you.
Hi Team,We are trying to deploy NCI cluster and env is Cisco C series M7 connected fabric interconnect, UCS domain mode deployment. Nutanix AOS/AHV- 6.5.5.7 version. 1. Looking for information on how many MAC pool required . As the document says to create a default MAC pool and unique MAC pool. is it 2 pool required.2. Normally there will be separate MAC pool for each FI /Fabric interconnect which will be used for server based on connection. For instance, server A has 2 NIC and 1Each connected to FIA and FIB. Both NIC cards will get MAC ID from deferent pool. In Foundation only one MAC pool can be used and that should be default MAC pool. do we have create 3 Mac pool default , MAC-A and MAC-B pool. If yes, were we can provide MAC-A and MAC-B pool info when deploying.3. Regarding VLAN created for NCI cluster in UCS Manager. If we create multiple VLANs, ex for CVM/ AHV, for VMs. How /where we can tag them. As in Foundation only one VLAN can be used.4. Regarding UCS manifest file vi /hom
