Hello - Trying to upgrade via one-click upgrade in Prism from 4.0.2.2 to 4.0.3. Even though I have "Enable Automatic Download" enabled it does not show 4.0.3 as "available compatible version." However, I have another identical cluster which shows 4.0.3 as available. Anything I am missing to make sure Prism auto downloads the latest NOS from Nutanix? Thanks.
just wondering the following:Everywhere you look it shows nutanix configuration of 2 or 4 SSD with the rest being HDD. With the advance of having all flash nodes on every model, is there anything stopping us having lets's say 6 SSD and 4 HDD? Or 5 of each in a node supporting 10 Disks?Does the Pro License also enable us to pin VM or part of it to SSD?
Hello's I have an existing VMware install using a storage array. I have a three node Nutanix cluster that i'll be migrating to. I've read through some of the solutions offered and i have an additional question. When i migrate my VM's using vmotion from the legacy platform, do i have to make a decision to which host on the Nutanix side the VM will reside and if so, do i have to think about balancing out my VM's across the three hosts? Thanks all for your time, Sky.
after launching the foundation applet I could only see two nodes instead of three, i logged into the cvm on which i configured my IP address. On restart, the httpd service failed. I presume this is why the applet could not add that node. please any suggestions as I am onsite
Hi,i have a problem with vMotion between ESXi host on Nutanix box.The problem occurred while migradt host.
While trying to add a new node to my cluster where I need to re-image before adding to the cluster, the iso_whitelist.json in the foundations downloads page appears to be broke, just redirect back to the support portal. appologies if this is the wrong place to rais the issue Regards, Stephen
Hi, we have installed a 4 node Nutanix cluster. In the installation process you have to select the cluster redundancy factor, RF2 or RF3. We tried to select RF3 but the system says that you need at least 5 nodes. So we were forced to create the cluster with RF2. In the future we plan to extend the cluster with additional nodes, may be only storage nodes. Will it be possible to upgrade from RF2 to RF3 without having to delete the existing cluster and create a new one? Stefano
Hi, Just wanted to find out if AFS is included in all version including Express and Starter Editions ? If yes, are they limited in some one when compared to the higher end versions ? Thanks G
hi must try to get advice.... I will buy NX-3360-G5... 3 node... 1) if one node failure(power off), we still have two nodes for data writing?2) if one node failure(power off), what happens?3) Node 1 Service does failover to the other node? it is possible? i think it will result in Zookeeper Failure. Because will not satisfy quorum rule.
Hi Folks, I`m installing a new also my first AHV(latest version installer-el6.nutanix.20160601.20,with latest AOS4.7.1). I`m new to KVM,as well as AHV. So some problems met, tough time these days. Any help would be highly appreciated, thanks in advance. 4) centos 4.7 guest vm also the guide 《AMF_Guide-AOS_v4_7》 says only support CentOS 6.4, 6.5, 6.6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 Is there a support matrix for all the vm guest type ? 7) kvm vm mgmt via Prism there`s too little function for manaing ahv hypervisor and guest vm via prism(it seems only basic vm life-cycle mgmt). Can I add usb device, make an ovf template like vmware vcenter ? I`m not such familiar with virsh, ovs cli tool
How would I migrate VM's from an existing vSphere 5 cluster to a new Nutanix Block running vSphere 6? Would this work: Add the existing vSphere 5.0 hosts to the new Nutanix vCenter as a seperate Cluster Ensure the vMotion network on Nutanix is the same as the existing hosts and thet can talk Upgrade the existing vSphere 5.0 hosts to 5.1 vMotion using the web client to Nutanix Hosts and Nutanix storage Or is there another method?
Hey all! Just got my 3 node monster Nutanix box up and running and LOVE it! Quick theoretical question though: I blew through my budget on this box, and would LOVE to have a DR setup somewhere else in the building (to combat fire, flood, earthquake, etc.) Could I take some spare hardware lying around, and as long as it meets the specs needed, install the CE version, and make that the DR for my existing paid for version of Nutanix? I've gotten mixed answers from various people is why I ask. Thanks in advance!
I am a bit confused. On the Nutanix support portal, in the Downloads section for Phoenix, it say's, "Phoenix is a tool used to install the Nutanix Controller VM and provision a hypervisor on a new or replacement node in the field. You can download a Phoenix ISO file from this page. Each Phoenix ISO file is for a specific hypervisor and Acropolis base software (NOS) release." But then when filtering, it shows Phoenix versions 2.1.1.1 to 3.0.4 are for Hypervisor "All". And then Phoenix version 2.0.4 has seperate downloads specificlly for KVM, HyperV, or ESXi, depending on which Hypervisor your are deploying. Which Phoenix download are you supposed to use if wanting to deploy an ESXi 5.x or 6.x Hypervisor on the nodes in the field?
Hi, Next and friend I have question about HDD on Nutanix-cluster NX-1465.How many HDD can fail when cluster start.
Hi i am tring to crate docker containers via my windows installation can someone please direct me where do i put the AHV drivers ? i am getting this msg while i am tring to use the driver Driver not found. Do you have the plugin binary accessible in your PATH?
We have had two instances where a node detected/reported a fault event and reset rebooting vm on each occasion. There seems no reason for this to have happened. Details Host 192.168.xx.x4 appears to have failed. High Availability is restarting VMs on hosts throughout the cluster. 08-17-16, 02:01:41am Host 192.168.xx.x4 appears to have failed. High Availability is restarting VMs on hosts throughout the cluster.08-11-16, 07:19:48am We updated the AHV and NCC and since had a repeat last night from the first instance last week Is there a potential hw fault with the host that has not yet been detected or checked?
We moved a NX3000 to a new environment but one of the nodes died. So we had to reimage that node. The other two where still up and running. But after a power-failure on the rack, the two nodes rebooted but won't come up anymore. Hey, We're in the process of getting an exchange server virtualized and according to Nutanix best practice, we should create a container with EC-X enabled. When I go to create the container in the PRISM gui, there's no option to enable erasure coding. This contradicts documentation where it shows the option under "advanced options" but on my end, it's not appearing.
We had an issue when the cluster was first setup which involved the hdd. These were moved and replaced and now we see an error reported. It was initially cleared and now resurfaced, this despite a AHV update from 4.6.2 to 4.6.3 and also update on NCC to 2.6.6 Error Detailed information for disk_online_check:Node 192.168.xx.x4:FAIL: Disk '/home/nutanix/data/stargate-storage/disks/S460AATC' failed on node with ip u'192.168.xx.x3'. Hi, I apologize in advance for the long post !!!! From the information I've reviewed, the Xpress Models (I'm looking at Lenovo's offering) will support a maximum of 4 nodes. In addition there is no Protection Domain. Let's pretend that I'm a cloud provider for multiple customers, and I host their (Domain/File/Print/Email/Sql) servers in my 4 node domain. I want to use an (Acronis/Storagecraft) in VM backup software. These products store their backup images to a NAS/Share. If I setup a second 3 node Xpress Model that is storage "heavy" running Acropolis File Services, as a NAS/Share destination for my backup images, is there any restriction that you can think of that would prevent/limit me from doing this ? Right now we use StorageCraft and save to a Windows Storage NAS that has RAID 10 and I'm concerned that writing to will not be able to handle the I/O? I'm guessing that the 3 node Xpress AFS will easily handle intensive I/O writes. On weekends, the Full backup runs a

Need details how to store passwords as a secure string and use in a script for access to multiple Prism sites. I have a script to collect storage data from multiple Nutanix sites via Prism. Now I need to remove the plain text passwords. I have located references but only find "NOTE: for security reasons we should store our passwords as a secure string, by declaring these as variables before starting PowerShell." Can anyone provide the steps required to make this work?
All, For those using Palo Alto VMs and AHV please be aware that there is a major bug when upgrading to PANOS 7.1.3 that will corrupt the firewall interfaces randomly and so far there is no fix for it, not even downgrading back to previous versions, in my case was PANOS 7.0.5h2. I am currently working with Palo Alto engineering into fixing the issue, I will update once the case is resolved. For the time being I would highly recommend to stay away from the 7.1 series of upgrades. Regads Juan
Hi, I'm doing a PoC for a client, and I can't browse to Prism with 1 of the CVM IP address. The rest are OK. The cluster is up and running with no error. seems the httpd service unable to start. how do i fix this? below is the error snapshot. Please help. Thanks in advance.
Hi folks, Do you guys have ever think about the question. I read some guides and confused now. 1) node memory number: It seems every type of node has different supported memory number configuration: For NX-1064-G4, It shows only support 16x dimm ! What happens if I install any number, i.g 1, 2, 3,4,5,6 or any number 2) node memory installed slot location: It also says there`s an fixed slot order for different number dimm scenario. what happens if I install dimm not according to the guide ? 3) memory type: LR or R DIMM it also says there`s two type dimm, How to confirm which type is supported by specific type of node ? P.S my environment I have a node NX-1065-G4 with default 64g(4x16g installed in 1a,1b,1e,1f) and now I add two additional 16g dimm into slot 1g,1h. It work fine till now. but my memory number confuration is not supported by the guide ! the guide says NX-1065-G4 only support full slot (16x) dimm configuration ! so the guide has no tips about the slot order too while numb
