Hi all,my Question concern the Version missmatch between Production Vmware Version VMwareESXi 7.0 Update 3oand the offered Version in the Hypervisor Support in Nutanix, here ist the latest Version VMwareESXi 7.0 Update 3f Is this a problem ?Regards Uwe
why is there feature gaps between, https://github.com/nutanixdev/zerotouch-framework?tab=readme-ov-file and the terraform provider, https://registry.terraform.io/providers/nutanix/nutanix/latest/docsfor example, allows you deploy prism central using https://github.com/nutanixdev/zerotouch-framework/blob/main/config/example-configs/workflow-configs/pc-deploy.yml but there is no terraform resource for prism deployment. why>
Hi All,so i maintain a nutanix AHV Cluster since years, but i never expand the cluster myself. Now i hat to expand a Nutanix cluster on HPE wih ESXi7 with new nodes. So first i will install the AOS on the new cluster, configure the Network. And here is my question, had i install the ESXi Hypervisor on the new node before expansion starts or will these done thru the Expansion procedure ?Have anyone a step by step procedure expansion an esxi7 Cluster ?ThanksUwe
When trying to download file server 5.0.0.3 or below the download starts the automatically stops and goes to retry, i click on retry and it goes to resume download, i click on resume download and starts all over. I’ve tailed my firewall logs, it’s not getting blocked at the firewall. I’ve already done all the upgrades and patches on the system. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi Friends, I have 3 x Dell XC blocks which are almost 7-8 years and we have plans to migrate them to XC 660 x 3 blocks.Hypervisors running on VMware. Nutanix starter license.May I know what are the procedures on migration? Heard from reddit folks that is to update existing cluster to latest Nutanix software. Then add the new blocks into the existing cluster. Then let it replication and once ok, slowly remove the older blocks. Then move the VMs to start on the new hypervisors? Thanks
Hello! This is my environment:LENOVO LHX5521 (ThinkAgile) - Type 7Y90 - (6 Nodes)AOS 6.10ESXi-8.0.1C-22088125Each server comes with a X722 LOM card (4 NIC ports), One or two NIC ports go down if the Lenovo server is restarted. The workaround is to power off and then power on the server.I've seen on Lenovo support sites that updating the LOM card driver to the latest available version is the recommended approach to fix this error. I've downloaded the binary (.BIN) file to the ESXi 8 server (BEST RECIPE 5.5) and extracted it into a temporary folder, but when I try to run the update script, I get an error.[root@NODE1/temp] ./install-nvm-linux-x64-updated.sh-sh: ./install-nvm-linux-x64-updated.sh: not found The first line of the script shows that the Bash shell is required to run it. [root@NODE1/temp] head -2 install-nvm-linux-x64-updated.sh#!/bin/bash# change the tar ball name, otherwise there will a failure when customer uses the install scripIt looks like the bash shell (/bin/bash) is no
My head is spinning and I don’t know where to begin. Perhaps this community can help?I’m new to Nutanix and a new admin. We recently turned on File Analytics and since then, I’m getting alerts every 30-60 minutes about about file PermissionDenied (Count 38,640, Threshold is 10k) from 779 users. Similarly, FileRead (Count 15,733, Threshold is 10k) from 703 users.According to the Excel attachments and FileAnalytics dashboard, desktop.ini appears most frequently. We do have our desktops “locked” to prevent users from adding files to the desktop. I’m thinking about removing that “lock” to see if that improves the statistics.Another thought was indexing… I’ve already enabled the “Prevent automatic adding shared folders to the Windows Search index.” but still not seeing much of an improvement. We are still using MS Sync… maybe I should turn that off?Any one else see something similar? Any suggestions where to look for the cause? This is the 3rd day and I’ve lost sleep over this! LOL. T
Scenario:I am setting up Nutanix CE inside an ESXi host that has a public IP. My goal is to ensure that VMs created inside AHV can access the internet and Prism central should also get installed and should be accessible through jump host for API testingCurrent Setup:ESXi Host: Has a public IP. DHCP Network on ESXi: I created a DHCP network and set up a DHCP server inside ESXi. Nutanix CE VM: Installed using Nutanix CE ISO inside ESXi. Assigned to the DHCP network (no static IP set for AHV or CVM). Access to AHV & CVM: Using a jump host (Windows VM) with a public IP, I can access AHV and CVM consoles. What I Want to Achieve:Install Prism Central (to use v4 APIs). Create a VM inside AHV, assign it a DHCP IP, and ensure it can access the internet.Questions:How should I configure networking so that AHV VMs get internet access? What network settings should I use for Prism Central? Should I create a NAT, bridge, or a different setup? How should I handle routing & external connectiv
I have a Riello UPS which takes the CVM username and password, but does not like our particular password because of characters it deems to be illegalThis is a working CVM password but the error on the UPS is:Insert a valid password (chars allowed: a-z A-Z 0-9 , . _ + : @ % / - ) (1-63 chars)How do I create a user with enough rights to shut down all the VMs and then shut down the hosts? User Management within the CVM doesn't allow this… and I am still very new to Nutanix.
Hi All, I am very new to Nutanix. I am looking to size our environment on Nutanix platform which is currently on VMware. I am looking to size 50TiB of storage in the Nutanix cluster(3 node cluster at beginning) and how many disk are need for achieving so. The cluster will be all NVMe. Does Nutanix need cache disk for All NVme cluster as well like VSAN OSA or it’s same as VSAN ESA. I will be very grateful for any suggestions or link for correct documentation. Thank You
I have a Riello UPS which has a Nutanix shutdown option. I am trying to get it working but, since upgrading the OS of the UPS the console will not accept my Cluster CVM password…The error isInsert a valid password (chars allowed: a-z A-Z 0-9 , . _ + : @ % / - ) (1-63 chars)This CVM password is perfectly fine for accessing nutanix but how do I create a user that the UPS will accept? I am not able to create a user from the CVM web console and I am fairly new to nutanix. Before the UPS software was updated it accepted the CVM root user and my Admin credentials from AD, but now I need a new static user and it’s not clear how I achieve this.
Hello Dears,I want to clarify the best practices in the process of Nutanix foundation AHV on Lenovo HX650-Storage V3 IS?lenovo have 2 network cards- ThinkSystem Broadcom 57416 10GBASE-T 2-port OCP Ethernet Adapter- ThinkSystem Network Adapter 10 GbE PCIe Ethernet Adapterand in foundation should connect one port from XCC management port and one from data port in dummy switch to avoid customer network .in this case we have problem in adding the network card with fiber ports because of don't find the gateway and NTPwhat is the best practice advice to avoid this problem ?Do their is any other way to foundate nutanix on lenovo hardware ?
We have a customer with Windows VM and running Symantec Anti Virus in it, we are not able to migrate those VMs to AHV using Move tool as it gives an Access Denied Error. We are able to RDP into the Server with the CredentialsWe have disabled UACEnabled Local Admin credentialsInstalled VirtIO DriversAny suggestions or recommendations would be helpful
The ESX hypervisor option is not available in Nutanix CE during Installation, is there any requirement for this option to be available? Screenshot taken from the internet with ESX option Screenshot taken from my installer without the ESX option Thanks
Hi all, I have receive my hardware lenovo hx630. I can configure 2/3 with network_crashcard. But the third, I receive a error message : “The mode may be in a cluster...” How can I proceed. Normaly the node are completly new, so there isn’t in a cluster.Kind regards,
Hi, I have a question about exporting BOM.I have troubles when I tried to download BOM. An error show “Cannot invoke "com.nutanix.sizer.persistence.domain.BlockDistributionData.isExistingModel()" because "blockDistributionData" is null”” and download failed. What should I do for fix this problem? Regards,
Hi. I’ve just deployed a new CE instance and configured it to the point where I am accessing the CVM via HTTPS:9440 from a browser. Once I put in the admin username and password, I am of course asked for my NEXT Credentials, the credentials I used a few minutes ago to log in here. Also the credentials I have used for three other CE instances a few weeks ago.As soon as I submit these, I get “Cannot validate the credentials provided” in red and can go no further. Obviously I’ve checked for typos a number of times and am confident the credentials are correct. The only clue I have is from a firewall log that shows the very second I am submitting the credentials, the CVM is trying to access 23.214.153.160 (an Akamai owned IP I believe) and getting a deny (as it should). My question is what is this endpoint, why is CE trying to access it and why isn’t it documented as a requirement to run CE? It is not next.nutanix.com, my.nutanix.com, nsc01.nutanix.net nor nsc02.nutanix.net, the only URLs I
Hi all, We have receive ours 3 nodes based on lenovo HX630. Nutanix are already install on it. I need to configure the network on all node, I found in this community, that I need to use network_crashart. I launch it on two node perfectly and configure the network card, but on the third node, I have a message :This node may be in a cluster. What I was wrong ? Kind regards
How to add more network interfaces on a nutanix community edition (nested on ESXI)?
Hello Everyone,I have been having some difficulty with installing CE on my Mini PC. The hardware that I am using is a Bosgame Ryzen 7 5700U. It has two 1 TB NVMe, I also have two 64 GB 3.2Gen1 SanDisk USBs that I attached to the PC, where one has the Phoenix iso and the other which is for AHV boot. After assigning the IP information during Node creation and accepting the EULA, The installation seems to be good all the way until it gets to [2402/2430]. It then will show the info log messages seen in the attached photo. The only thing that I have been able to think of t-shooting wise was just to reformat the USB drives and restart the installation process, but the same thing occurs. I did see a post that talked about editing the installer_vm.py file and increasing those values, but it then throws me even more errors ( Attached screenshot of that as well).Any suggestions on what I should try next here? Also a side question, would it be a simpler set up if I used VMware Workstation and part

Hello, As part of our Metro availability setup (two Nutanix clusters with 10 nodes per site), we plan to implement network segmentation for DR traffic and storage/RF traffic on each cluster. For the DR traffic, the guide suggests you can use a stretched Layer 2 network configuration without requiring a gateway. This is our preferred approach, to have one VLAN/subnet stretched across the sites dedicated to Metro traffic. To set this up, I plan to:In Prism, create the IP pool using half the subnet and specify the service being isolated (in this case, DR). Specify the port group in ESXi to be used for DR traffic. Repeat the same steps on the other cluster, using the upper part of the IP range. Specify the same port group used in step one. Run the commands outlined in the KB below on both clusters.https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Nutanix-Security-Guide-v7_0:sec-network-segmentation-enable-l2stretch-ns2-t.html My questions are:Are my steps correct? Why do I need
Hi all, I'm in the process of creating two new Nutanix clusters and configuring Metro availability for replication. Our network uses a spine-leaf architecture, with 10 nodes on each site. Latency for site-to-site connectivity is under 5ms VLANs can be stretched between sites for seamless failover of all VM workloads. Additionally, I plan to use network segmentation to isolate storage/RF traffic for each cluster. I’m aware the all ESXi hosts need to part of the same ESXi Cluster for a supported Metro Availability configuration.I would like some advice on whether the ESXi hosts should be on the same stretched Layer 2 network or if they can be independent. For example, having ESXi hosts on site A use 192.168.5.0/24 and ESXi hosts on site B use 172.16.2.0/24.Are there any downsides to this approach? It feels more straightforward not to stretch the VLANs for host management networks. Has anyone else managed something similar? Any insights or best practices would be greatly appreciated. Than
HelloWe have a Nutanix cluster that we decomissionned, we want to delete all the storage data before unplugged it, but for some reason after deleting all the VM the storage cannot be deleted because its say there file on it (I check on with winSCP and nothing present on one of the storage, and on other its old snapshot associated with no vm.How can I delete all the stuff within Nutanix?
Hello community,I’m attempting to install single node AHV server with CVM on bare metal rented from CSP. The hardware compatibility is confirmed from the AHV HAL. Following the guide, I was able to complete the installation however the networking isn’t getting configured correctly. Seeking help in debugging and resolving the issue. Issue: After installing Nutanix Community Edition (CE) 2.0 on bare-metal, the network does not get configured correctly. Inbound and outbound connectivity with AHV & CVM not working.Procedure Followed:Downloaded the Nutanix CE 2.0 ISO: phoenix.x86_64-fnd_5.6.1_patch-aos_6.8.1_ga.iso. Installed using IPMI interface on the physical server. Uploaded the ISO and followed the bare-metal installation instructions outlined in the official deployment guide: Nutanix CE Deployment Guide. During setup, configured the IP and gateway details for both AHV and CVM. The following were assigned: AHV: IP: (Public IP) DNS: 213.186.33.99 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
