SCSI disk 100gb, 16gb mem, Server 2016 standard desktop experience, dual xeon icelakeLikely other configurations, as this has happened with multiple VMs, still collecting data, but wanted to get something started in case others have experience with this.My first thought is obviously some uefi configuration with boot order or something, but doesn’t really make sense, since it only *seems to happen* right after tool updates. *updated as it’s not like we reboot often, maybe it will happen without updating as well.
Hello, I completed the install of the new and shiny X-Ray 5.3Nice addition for the certificate, thank you to the Team in charge.A another new feature I was eager to try is Windows, So A followed the preparation guide, got a golden image and launch a test scenario Peak Performance Microbenchmark.Unfortunately it failed preparing the VMs : group_0: Preparing VMsCause: Cause:fatal: [169.254.217.84]: UNREACHABLE! => {fatal: [169.254.252.231]: UNREACHABLE! => {fatal: [169.254.146.81]: UNREACHABLE! => {fatal: [169.254.122.189]: UNREACHABLE! => {fatal: [169.254.37.135]: UNREACHABLE! => {fatal: [169.254.178.209]: UNREACHABLE! => {fatal: [169.254.54.182]: UNREACHABLE! => {fatal: [169.254.253.253]: UNREACHABLE! => {Impact: Ansible command did not finish cleanly. Hello Nutanix Community,I'm trying to install Nutanix Community Edition (CE), but I'm encountering an InstallerVM timeout issue. The installation keeps retrying, and the hypervisor setup does not complete successfully. My hardware setup:1 HDD (480GB) → Intended for data storage. 1 SSD (2.8TB) → Assigned to CVM storage. 1 USB Drive (32GB) → Used for the hypervisor installation.Issue Description:The installation starts but gets stuck with repeated messages: INFO Hypervisor installation in progress INFO InstallerVM timeout occurred, current retry 0 I have already disabled RAID and set the SATA mode to AHCI in the BIOS. The disks are correctly recognized when using lsblk and fdisk -l. I tried wiping the disks (wipefs -a and dd if=/dev/zero), but the issue persists.Troubleshooting Attempts:Checked system RAM → I have more than 32GB available. USB Boot Media → I recreated the bootable USB with a fresh Nutanix CE ISO.
Hello,After 3 node cluster deployment, I can see 4 CVMs.Two of them looks like the same VM but duplicated. How to fix it and remove one of them? I cannot update vs0 on the node where two CVMs are placed.AHV/CVM reboot did not help. And I cannot use acli on that node. nutanix@NTNX-b7617012-A-CVM:10.170.0.11:~$ ncli vm list Id : 00062cfc-0318-cd70-17eb-005056b90eac::7fa39b58-506c-40f9-b5b8-54146d84855e Uuid : b452d890-a399-49b3-b415-e975c489d577 Name : NTNX-b7617012-A-CVM VM IP Addresses : 10.170.0.11, 192.168.5.2, 192.168.5.254 Hypervisor Host Id : 00062cfc-0318-cd70-17eb-005056b90eac::5 Hypervisor Host Uuid : f20c4224-3d4f-4472-bb79-2e8aa0968bc5 Hypervisor Host Name : NTNX-b7617012-A Memory : 20 GiB (21,474,836,480 bytes) Virtual CPUs : 2 VDisk Count : 0 Protection Domain : Consistency Group : Id

Hi TeamI am trying to setup Prism Central in Nutanix CE. I have configured the required details in Prism Console for deploying prism central. My deployment is failing repeatedly and getting the error saying it’s failed in tarball extraction phase. I have tried multiple times and every time I saw the issue in UI. I went through the /home/nutanix/data/logs/genesis.out logs to get more details on the issue. I found something interesting there. When we start the Prism central deployment, it first tried to download the prism central tarball and unzip it. One it’s unzipped then it’s start to convert the qcow2 file to image. when it start to convert the qcow2 → image , the command is configured with a timeout of 1800 sec. Please have a look into the below log line. 2024-07-01 08:55:17,702Z INFO 25030000 uvm.py:1606 Running cmd ['/usr/bin/timeout', '1800', '/usr/local/nutanix/bin/qemu-img', 'convert', '-p', '-f', 'qcow2', '-O', 'raw', u'nfs://127.0.0.1/default-container-40804253832490/pc.2022.
Hello,We are working on provisioning and deploying Cisco Firepower Threat Defense Virtual (FTDv) on Nutanix AHV using an API-based approach. Previously, we used Nutanix API for ASAv deployment, and now we want to validate whether FTDv can be fully provisioned using Nutanix API alone, without requiring manual steps during deployment as discussed in following https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/quick_start/consolidated_ftdv_gsg/ftdv-gsg/m-ftdv-nutanix-gsg.html. What We Are Trying to Achieve: Upload Cisco FTDv Image – Since FTDv requires a QCOW2 image, we need to upload it to Nutanix Image Service first. Deploy FTDv VM – We must create a VM using the uploaded FTDv image and assign networking. Apply Day-0 Configuration (Cloud-Init) – FTDv requires a Day-0 file (for IP, DNS, authentication, and FMC registration). Power On & Validate – Ensure FTDv boots with the correct settings and is ready for FMC registration. What We Need to Confirm:Nutanix API v2 vs. v3 – Nutani
We are planning to renew license for below nodes Nutanix(HCI) NX-1265-G7-2 Nodes Nutanix(HCI) NX-8135-G7-3 Nodes But in the same cluster we have four G5 nodes as well, When we try to apply core license through PC, It doesn’t allow us to only license G7 nodes and we need to select all the cores from all the nodes, It seems that we need to separate the G7 nodes from the cluster just for the licenses to apply, Are we missing anything ?
Looking for best practices or examples for enabling port-forward traffic from Nutanix AOS/AHV hypervisor to the VM. Here is my setup:Successfully provisioned Nutanix AOS/AHV hypervisor on the PowerEdge server. Enabled OS to iDRAC passthrough using PowerEdge iDRAC settings as per the document Accessing redfish API via OS-iDRAC interface is successful as shown below: # curl -k https://169.254.0.1/redfish/v1{"@odata.context":"/redfish/v1/$metadata#ServiceRoot.ServiceRoot" …., Next step I would like to perform similar redfish query from the VMs. How do I enable port-forward using NAT on AOS/AHV; so that PowerEdge iDRAC redfish service network is accessible from VM? Thank you.Viswanath
Hello,After 3 node cluster deployment with CE edition. After fresh installation, I am trying to use LCM to install Software upgrades. (NCC, Foundation and FSM).Any software I try to upgrade, all finish with failed status and at the end some drives are marked as offline: How to find:the reason why all those upgrades fail? way to bring the drives back online?
A client has requested to migrate a Windows Server VM (Domain Controller) installed in a VMWare ESXi cluster to the Nutanix cluster with AHV. I have only migrated Windows and Linux VMs with Nutanix Move, in this case I do not know if it is advisable to do the migration. I have not found any information on this matter. I would appreciate if you could tell me if it is possible to migrate the Domain Controller without any problems or if it is advisable to create a new VM configured as a Domain Controller in Nutanix. If it is possible to do the task with Nutanix Move, how should I do it? Thank you.

Hi all,my Question concern the Version missmatch between Production Vmware Version VMwareESXi 7.0 Update 3oand the offered Version in the Hypervisor Support in Nutanix, here ist the latest Version VMwareESXi 7.0 Update 3f Is this a problem ?Regards Uwe
why is there feature gaps between, https://github.com/nutanixdev/zerotouch-framework?tab=readme-ov-file and the terraform provider, https://registry.terraform.io/providers/nutanix/nutanix/latest/docsfor example, allows you deploy prism central using https://github.com/nutanixdev/zerotouch-framework/blob/main/config/example-configs/workflow-configs/pc-deploy.yml but there is no terraform resource for prism deployment. why>
Hi All,so i maintain a nutanix AHV Cluster since years, but i never expand the cluster myself. Now i hat to expand a Nutanix cluster on HPE wih ESXi7 with new nodes. When trying to download file server 5.0.0.3 or below the download starts the automatically stops and goes to retry, i click on retry and it goes to resume download, i click on resume download and starts all over. I’ve tailed my firewall logs, it’s not getting blocked at the firewall. I’ve already done all the upgrades and patches on the system. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi Friends, I have 3 x Dell XC blocks which are almost 7-8 years and we have plans to migrate them to XC 660 x 3 blocks.Hypervisors running on VMware. Nutanix starter license.May I know what are the procedures on migration? Heard from reddit folks that is to update existing cluster to latest Nutanix software. Then add the new blocks into the existing cluster. Then let it replication and once ok, slowly remove the older blocks. Then move the VMs to start on the new hypervisors? Thanks
Hello! This is my environment:LENOVO LHX5521 (ThinkAgile) - Type 7Y90 - (6 Nodes)AOS 6.10ESXi-8.0.1C-22088125Each server comes with a X722 LOM card (4 NIC ports), One or two NIC ports go down if the Lenovo server is restarted. The workaround is to power off and then power on the server.I've seen on Lenovo support sites that updating the LOM card driver to the latest available version is the recommended approach to fix this error. I've downloaded the binary (.BIN) file to the ESXi 8 server (BEST RECIPE 5.5) and extracted it into a temporary folder, but when I try to run the update script, I get an error.[root@NODE1/temp] ./install-nvm-linux-x64-updated.sh-sh: ./install-nvm-linux-x64-updated.sh: not found The first line of the script shows that the Bash shell is required to run it. My head is spinning and I don’t know where to begin. Perhaps this community can help?I’m new to Nutanix and a new admin. We recently turned on File Analytics and since then, I’m getting alerts every 30-60 minutes about about file PermissionDenied (Count 38,640, Threshold is 10k) from 779 users. Similarly, FileRead (Count 15,733, Threshold is 10k) from 703 users.According to the Excel attachments and FileAnalytics dashboard, desktop.ini appears most frequently. We do have our desktops “locked” to prevent users from adding files to the desktop. I’m thinking about removing that “lock” to see if that improves the statistics.Another thought was indexing… I’ve already enabled the “Prevent automatic adding shared folders to the Windows Search index.” but still not seeing much of an improvement. We are still using MS Sync… maybe I should turn that off?Any one else see something similar? Any suggestions where to look for the cause? This is the 3rd day and I’ve lost sleep over this! LOL. T
Scenario:I am setting up Nutanix CE inside an ESXi host that has a public IP. My goal is to ensure that VMs created inside AHV can access the internet and Prism central should also get installed and should be accessible through jump host for API testingCurrent Setup:ESXi Host: Has a public IP. DHCP Network on ESXi: I created a DHCP network and set up a DHCP server inside ESXi. Nutanix CE VM: Installed using Nutanix CE ISO inside ESXi. Assigned to the DHCP network (no static IP set for AHV or CVM). Access to AHV & CVM: Using a jump host (Windows VM) with a public IP, I can access AHV and CVM consoles. What I Want to Achieve:Install Prism Central (to use v4 APIs). Create a VM inside AHV, assign it a DHCP IP, and ensure it can access the internet.Questions:How should I configure networking so that AHV VMs get internet access? What network settings should I use for Prism Central? Should I create a NAT, bridge, or a different setup? How should I handle routing & external connectiv
