Hello Families,i have configures nutanix File server on my environment and it’s up and running perfectly, now i want to create a directory inside my share and i use “/share/dir1/dir2” format but it keep saying “invalid share/export path”
I changed AHV and CVM ips. But Nutanix File Analytics is still pointing to the old cluster ip. Does anyone has a guide howto change this so File Analytics is using the new cluster ip? Deleting the file analytics and redeploy it is not working. As you first need to disable file analytics. But this is not possible as it gives the error that it cannot access prism (pointing to the old ip).
I am trying to deploy a new File Analytics VM and it keeps failing with the following error“One or more services are not running, please check logs for more details”I have been looking all over the system for the correct log. Can you please point me in the right direction to find the log that might tell me why this deployment keeps failing?Thank you
This might be an obvious question but I’m very new to Nutanix. When reading the deployment guide for Nutanix Files Analytics, it doesn’t explicitly say to enable Files on the cluster. I imagine this process will be two steps, the first making sure Nutanix Files is deployed prior to deploying File Analytics?
We ran into a problem with a Nutanix File Server using SSR. (We never enabled it)We ran out of space for our profiles, and when we started deleting old ones the Snapshot grew, basically meaning we didn't clear any space at all. Some of the profiles that got deleted (robocopy script gone wrong) are actually needed. So we are going to restore those on a need basis. But, we need to remove the old ones still that are from users that are gone from the company. Is there a way to permanently delete them off the snapshot somehow? Please ask for clarifications if none of this makes sense. My Nutanix isn't strong.
Can we create a “Nutanix Files” as a FTP server?
Nutanix Files, formerly known as AFS, is the company’s File Server and File Sharing solution on a Nutanix cluster. By provisioning Nutanix Files within the Nutanix cluster, we have essentially eliminated the need to deploy a dedicated Network Attached Storage (NAS) solution for Windows/SMB file services. Nutanix Files operates as a clustered, distributed File server driven by a set of File server VMs commonly referred to as FSVMs. A customer or user new to Nutanix Files and its orchestration could feel intimidated by the plethora of possibilities and intricacies in managing the Nutanix Files infrastructure. Let me try to help you make a start by providing you some commands to get a jumpstart in handling this product. I will use the following conventions to differentiate between running a command at the CVM layer as against running the command inside a FSVM:nutanix@CVM:$ nutanix@FSVM:$ Here we go: List the FSVMs and their IP addresses --- a few alternatives as well:nutanix@CVM:$
Hello, I try to activate the SMB Protocol for a Nutanix Fileserver Deplyoment. (Prism Version 5.19.1). Join AD failed with error - Failed to join domain: failed to precreate account in ou OU=….: Invalid DN syntax. The uses User has permission to create a computer Object in this OU, but is not a Domain admin. Perhaps the reason can by that the user do not have permission to Read/Write service principal names. (A more precise Error Message could be helpful) I can not get the permission for SPN. For ohter Services f.e. SSO I have request a SPN with a KeyTabe File. Is something like this Possible with the Nutanix Fileserver too?
How to Migrate AFS (Nutanix Files) from one AHV cluster to another AHV Cluster. we want migrate our AFS environment on another cluster with all existing configuration.Any Lead or Help
Hi folks! We’re implementing Nutanix Files and we are not sure how to handle following scenario:Let’s assume, we create some File Server with some Shares. We set the size of the File Server to 2TiB. Now we create a lot of share that are used by a lot of endpoints. The usage of the File Server is growing some dozens of GiBs a Month - now worries here. Suddenly some system/user is filling up space rapidly, let’s say 100GiB an hour for the sake of drama. Now, the Cluster wont warn us until it’s almost too late. Maybe this happens in the middle of the night of a holiday that is on a weekend while half of our staff is on vacation and the other half is somehow indisposed/slow/unwary.It would be cool to have some alert, that warns us from extreme usage growth. and it would be great to have some (limited) autogrow featureSo my question to the community: Is there something like that? I know the example is extreme. But from our experience something like that happens from time to time. And if it ha
Hello, Would like to ask, What’s the use of this particular Windows in Settings “Scan File System” , I have noticed that Some of my Folders are marked as Completed but some of them are Marked as “Never Scanned”. What does this mean.. Thank you..
Hi there. I would like to know if this information about space used / total of a Nutanix Files is possible to get by PowerShell or rest API.Thanks in advance
Hello, We have the VM with the file serber on installing on one of the node of our Nutanix. For now the size of the disk is 3.5 TB, but we wanted to extend this size up to 4.5TB. Is somebody knows if VM will work correctly with the such big size of the disk?
hello,I configured nutanix files, after deploying 3 server files and I can configure share / export but I have a problem when configuring directory service.can you helping thanks

We are running on SMB NetApp and I’m curious to finding out how to implement the Qtree/Quotas in Nutanix files?
We have an Oracle EBS web server on IBM AIX. Server storage is obtained through the Nutanix Files service. The observation is as follows: Our users have reported repetitive disconnections while working on the application since migrating server storage from old FC storage to Nutanix Files "ISCSI" storage. We followed many leads like timeout settings, patch and update Apache WEB server version and JVM ... until we come to the conclusion that after the connection of more than about 90 users, the disconnection problem arises.I wanted to know, if there are any recommendations, workaround for an Apache WEB server with non FC storage such as Nutanix Files?
Mike McGhee demonstrates Nutanix File Analytics, which provides insights into file and user activity including audit trails and anomaly detection for your SMB and NFS shares with Nutanix Files. Hi,Can you please point me to a document with _detailed_ description of networking requirements for Files for PD recovery to work, as well as _detailed _ description of how the networking is being handled during the failover? The reason I’m asking is that I’m planning PD for Files, and I need to understand the networking side of that, i.e. how Storage and Client networking are being handled during the failover to the other cluster, where the networking is different (different datacentre). Do I pre-configure portgroups to connect to in advance, as well as the IP-s to assign?, and AOS/Files handle this automatically during the failover? Or is this a “wizard”-driven workflow where I specify portgroups and IPs? Or is there a requirement for stretched VLAN-s for both Client and Storage networks? I wasn’t able to find and deatiled information on that, so am askign for your help.Thank you, Victor
Hello everyone,I’m trying to install the Nutanix File Analytics application.I got a message ‘ File Analytics server deployment is in progress’ when I click the link ‘Deploy File Analytics’.Before this happened, I’ve tried same link and configured File analytics options and clicked the ‘Deploy’ in filnal. It was something that there was no problem. But the installation was stopped in 1% progress, means no more advance.Anybody could help me, please…
Hi,Can you please help me with any recommendation and/or point me to any documentation around running Nutanix Files alongside other types of workloads (on ESXi)? I.e. server virtualisation, VDI, other Files instances, sustainability for resource contention, resource reservation, etc. While I do understand that in an extreme case of a dedicated HCI cluster where only FSVM-s are spread across the nodes, Files would surely perform well, I’m after more real-world scenarios, where Files still deliver.Thank you, Victor.
I’m in the process of installing Nutanix Files on Esxi but I’m stuck at Add Network (through vCenter)We found this link but it is no more availablehttps://next.nutanix.com/nutanix-files-71/failing-afs-pre-check-deployment-add-network-through-vcenter-27924?postid=42955#post42955Any help is appreciated
In the course of changing the containers to RF3, I noticed that unlike the containers with VMs, the Usage metric on Files containers drops by 20% after the change. I.e. normally (a VM container), right after the change the Usage drops by 30% and then gradually returns to the original value. But with Files containers, after the same 30% drop, it returns to a value of 20% less than the original. That was consistent for two Files containers, very different in size and type of stored data. Could anyone please help with an explaination? Thank you.
Can you explain the safest way to upgrade Nutanix files product please. 3 nodes cluster, with 2 files servers. Current version 3.6 on Esxi 6.5 and AOS 5.15.4 LTS. I can have if needed a little down time to snapshot in vmware the Nutanix files VM maybe before the upgrade process?I got some commvault backup but it a long process to restore 7TB of files… so i want a quick and easy way to back off it the upgrade process fail.
I am unable to delete a Citrix user profile which is hosted in Nutanix AFS share…Getting error as already in use by another program
