When will GovCloud be supported for Remote Backup?

What options are available within nutanix to speed up replication to a remote site? The best i am able to get on a single stream is about 20MBps (160mbps) with an aggregate speed of about 60MBps (480mbps) spread out over several streams. However, we have a 10gbps link between sites, so i expected to get better throughput.

Hi everyone, I´m trying to export the VMs from AHV in vmdk and qcow2 formats directly from a CVM. Sometimes I get the errors bellow: qemu-img: NFS Error: NFS: Write failed with NFS3ERR_JUKEBOX(-11) qemu-img: error while writing sector 44426880: Resource temporarily unavailable In other situations Putty just close in the middle of the copy. After several retries, I finally made backup of two big VMs (around 50 gb). The commands that I am using are: qemu-img convert -O vmdk nfs://127.0.0.1/TKWORKSTATION/.acropolis/vmdisk/d9759595-6dee-4138-bcc0-bad7bf8e1075 nfs://127.0.0.1/Backup_VM/TAIPEI.vmdk qemu-img convert -c nfs://127.0.0.1/TKWORKSTATION/.acropolis/vmdisk/d9759595-6dee-4138-bcc0-bad7bf8e1075 -O qcow2 nfs://127.0.0.1/Backup_VM/TAIPEI.qcow2 Nutanix Community lastest version. Hi, Our customer would like to utilize the snapshot feature on Nutanix AHV as backup solution. They would like to know if they could create Application Consistent snapshot. I did some research. 1. In the Web Console Guide which mentioned about Application-Consistent Snapshots "This option is available for ESXi only; it is not supported for Hyper-V or AHV. However, athird-party product could be used to invoke VSS when the hypervisor is Hyper-V or AHV." 2. QEMU should have guest agent and which the VirtIO Driver should have included. So, my question is. Can Nutanix AHV support Application Consistent snapshot. Thabnks

Hi, I'm struggling with backups while using KVM. We've been using snapshots for our standard backup process and these work just fine within the cluster. I can recover a VM either as a new clone to retrieve lost files or to directly replace the original in case of a major crash. My next problem is exporting those snapshots to another cluster (since DR isn't available for KVM yet) or to a non-Nutanix archival server. That appears not to be possible. Everything I've been suggested so far involves backing up the VM internally or copying the iSCSI device with dd which would involve us having two completely separate backup processes running in parallel. Not fun. Is there a way to export the Nutanix drives to another server? Logically they must exist somewhere so should be copyable.

Does anyone know if/how I can get a count of all vDisks in my cluster, including vDisks associated with snapshots? We want to increase our data retention and it appears the limitation on snapshots is the number of vDisks so I need to figure out how many we have with our current number of VMs and snapshots. Running AOS 5.6, NCC 3.5.2, Hyper-V 2012r2. Any help appreciated, please let me know if there's more info I can provide. Thanks! David

Hello, When I try to do a consistent snapshot I get this: Warning : Vss snapshot failed for the VM(s) xxx, protected by xxx because Quiescing guest VM(s) failed or timed out. Impact : Crash consistent snapshot is taken instead of application consistent snapshot. Cause : Guest is not able to quiesce VM due to internal error. The servers has the NGT installed, are alone in the consistency group. Before I open a case, I'd like to have your hindsight. Thanks.

With this new product comes a change to how Veeam licenses their products. All new products released this year will be per VM only and socket licensing is gone. As I understand it, customers who already have socket licenses will be able to renew their product, but what if they jump to AHV? I'm pretty sure Veeam counts this as a new contract as you purchase Veeam with your Hypervisor type. This means you too may likely move to a per VM model of licensing. But, isn't this a good thing? Doesn't it reduce my costs? That is up for debate per environment. I just wrote my Veeam account rep about this licensing change and gave him the reasons why I don't want a per VM licensing model as a Veeam customer. Here's a copy of that message. Hi, Im currently looking into a 3-node Cluster layout with NX-1155 hosts and PRO license as Remote Site for DR. I would like to go for 3 nodes instead of a single node configuration because it can withstand block/node failures. But Im trying to keep it low on the price scale. The one thing that keeps bothering me is that I want to be able to start a few user vms on the Remote Site. I know its possible but 64GB of RAM per host isnt much especially when the CVM blocks at least 24. It has to compete against a 3node CE installation which im not in favour because i would like to have support/production grade software. But I could get hosts that supports more RAM and start more VMs if I need to. What do you think?

Hello, New to Nutanix. I'm trying to add VM's to a protection domain via the webconsole, but some VM's I want to add aren't showing up. What's interesting is on the VM sumary page in Prism shows I have 66 VM's, but vCenter shows 81. Is there an easy explanation for this? I am on Esx 5.5 and AOS 4.5.2 Thanks!

Ok Everyone, I am fairly new to the Nutanix system as our company recently decided to upgrade all server hardware to a Hyper-Converged system. Because of this, my knowledge of the backupsnapshot systems used by Nutanix is very limited, so please bear with me. So heres the issue; yesterday afternoon one of UPS burned itself up and caused a sudden power outage in our core datacenter. This location houses our primary Nutanix 4 node cluster. This is also the location where all employee profiles are stored using the Nutanix File Server system. After power was restored and th Nutanix system powered back up (took roughly 30mins) all services seemed to be restored. The next morning however, we started recieving calls about users not being able to login to the system. They are getting errors about network profiles not being available. Hi All, (Async DR, Nutanix-to-Nutanix) One of our customer are moving their DRC site to a new location, which will require IP addresses reconfiguration (to a totally different set of IPs) to their DRC Nutanix cluster. As there are already current PD snapshots in the DRC cluster (~5TB disk space), they wouldn't want to lost them upon IP addresses reconfiguration/DRC relocation. Kindly advise for any risk; and if there are risks to current PD snapshots' availability/reliability, kindly advise for any workaround.

Hi guys, Is there a way to change the min. snap retention count for local site AND remote site? We have a PD wich has two schedules. -every 60 mins - keep 3:3 -every 24 hours - keep 4:4 The problem now is that if for example the replication of the 60 min schedule fails because of network problems, or because the replication takes longer than normaly, the snapshots on the remote site expires. So let's say the disaster happens monday night at 1am. If the first admin arrives at 7am, every 60min snapshot will be expired and we can only work with the older 24hour based snaps. Hello, we switch from NetApp to Nutanix and I want to know how could an AFS Backup look like. I have read that ABS is underneath AFS to deliver the data, hence no File Services Data resides inside the AFS VMs doing the client side. So a VM-only backup would not reach any data that we migrate from our Filers to AFS, right? We have Veeam B&R Enterprise Plus but doing File-level backups gains around 200KB/s. The VM-Backup on the other hand gets over 100MB/s so there is someone pulling on all brakes with file-level backup. Are there any other options to get the data in a timely manner? Nutanix 5.11.2 Ultimate Licence VMware vSphere 5.5 According to the Nutanix Knowledge base Restore Snapshot (2 options) , I shoud get the option to overide the existing vm when recovering a VM via a Snapshot. However I only see the option to restore to a clone (see attached). Can anyone advise?

Hello, I connected a CE Edition to our nutanix to test async data protection. A snaphot from the remote side always show "processing" in Async Dir -> Local Snapshots -> Row "RECLAIMABLE SPACE" also if the snapshot was done days before so "processing" is suspicous. Is this a known issue, limitation of ce, bug, or config problem. /Greetings René
