Hello all, It seems that I am having issues with one of my ESXI hosts in my Nutanix. Nutanix G8ESXI 6.7 vSphere 6.7 This is a new set up, so not entirely devastated. Now the reason I believe it became disconnected is because in vSphere I see Network Adapter 1 VM Network (Disconnected). However the other 2 CVM’s are working just fine and are connected. in Prism when I click on the node I do see the host details, but nothing like the name I originally gave it, under the hardware tab and Host NIC’s there's nothing.Under Prism settings > Configure CVM I see 2 of the 3 and of course the one missing is the one I'm having issues with. Now I am able to see open the CVM VM in vSphere and Prism, but here's the other issue. When I set these up I used a password manager and gave all 3 CVM’s the same password, why I bring this up is because the other 2 CVM’s take the password and username, but the bad CVM doesn't. Even the default password for the G8 models doesn't work. So in other words I cann
Hello dear Nutanix community,A client of my company has purchased 3 HX Lenovo nodes and 2 ToR Cisco switches, each node was equipped with only 2 ports 10GbE (the LOM ones). However, with only 2 ports, I don’t know how to setup the cluster in a way that there is a redundancy. The current rack looks like this without any cabling yet: The IPMI port will go to a Management Switch, so there’s no issue there. But so far, I am confused as to how setup the cabling for the two interfaces; Should eth0 go to a port on SW1 and eth1 go to a port on SW2 for each of the 3 servers? or should both eth0 and eth1 go to the same switch? If I understood correctly the AHV Networking articles in Nutanix, eth0 and eth1 will form a logical bond (br0-up) inside the br0 bridge. And I’m guessing since we only have 2 uplinks per nodes (I’m going for the first scenario):> eth0 will go to SW1Port1 (for example), SW1Port1 will be configured as a Trunk port, for which the CVM/AHV VLAN and User VMs VLANs will be de

We have Red Hat Virtualization from where we are going to migrate to Nutanix AHV. Virtual machines in RHV are LVM, not disks, because we are using fibre channel. How can we migrate virtual machines from RHV to AHV?
Is it possible to enable RDMA nic manually in the CVM after manually passthrough the Mellanox network card to CVM in ESXi?It is not enable RDMA during foundation and the cluster is created. After passthrough the NICs to CVM in ESXi, I checked that the NICs are already in the lspci result but can not enable RDMA in Prism. So if it is not possible, that means if the cluster is created without RDMA enabled. there is no way to re-enable RDMA except re-foundation the cluster?
I have just changed disk 0 and disk 1 which were SSD SATA 480gb and now are SSD SAS 1.92tb - Prism still identifies them as SSD-SATA - Why? or have a missed something? Also how do I know if they are in a RAID config or whether the system has just picked them up as single disks? The new drives should run like hot snot, how do I check that they are running faster than the old SATA drives - still have 2 hosts with old drives , I plan to complete the change over tomorrow. Or will I only see speed increase when all hosts are complete?
Has anyone ever attempted a Host book disk repair and encountered this issue before? All cables and SFPs are plugged in as if it were still in production. Have not yet attempted to rebuild via foundation as these were the steps provided by Nutanix support: https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Hypervisor-Boot-Drive-Replacement-Platform-v510-Multinode-G3G4G5:Hypervisor-Boot-Drive-Replacement-Platform-v510-Multinode-G3G4G5 Steps Taken: Downloaded and burnt phoenix.iso to USB Booted USB into Phoenix Kicked off Repair Host boot Disk and uploaded whitelisted ESXi image Encountered error I have a case open with support and have escalated and figured that while i’m waiting I could ask the community. Will provide a response here once we figure out the issue. Cheers All! (Edit: I posted this in the CE forum by accident)
how can i change ssh port??
So - I have been trying to get some sort of automation of my Ubuntu VM creation in Prism, either by setting up a template machine that I would later modify using cloud-init custom scripts, or even better using a custom cloud-init script at creation to run through the “Ubuntu autoinstall” I have tried a few times now to install an Ubuntu server by clicking my way through the GUI and then using the resulting .yml file to try and install a VM from scratch… Using “clone” from a template I can use a custom script to change hostname and so forth, but still having some problems changing the network settings (saying they are disabled by system.cfg). I guess I will be able to figure that part out eventually, but my main goal is to be able to register a new machine in Netbox, and from the info I have entered there automatically create a cloud-init fileand use that to trigger VM creation in Nutanix… When I try to create a new VM - mounted with the Ubuntu 20.04.4 installer ISO and a 100GB disk -
I read that we can able to export the AHV VM in OVA format via Prism central GUI if we have both AOS and Prism central supported version. I need to know is there any way to do the same via PRISM CLI. If so,please share me any link for that. Thanks. -JAI
I’m trying to uninstall VMware tools from VMs running on AHV version 20201105.2244. I am following the KB to uninstall VMware tools: Unable to Uninstall VMware Tools in Windows after Migration by Move from ESXi to AHVI mount the ISO in windows on the VM and run the ‘setup64.exe /c’ command and immediately notice EventID 1000 and 1005 in the application logs. They are application errors not being able to launch the VMware installer process. I have tried this on two separate VMs on different clusters. Hi,I’m trying to update a Nutanix env, from Prism Element. Using the web, in LCM, I see version 5.20.2 being in there, but when trying to upgrade to 5.20.3, I get the following error:Update of nutanix.nos failed on 192.168.0.2 (environment cvm) at stage 1 with error: [Failed to perform AOS upgrade with error [Preupgrade task [57c7e9a1-ebc9-495d-a848-2ead17251730] failed/aborted with message Version 5.20.3 is same as the current version 5.20.3]]LCM is at 2.4.4.2. NCC check done previously, nothing to report. Here the LCM dashboard. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks a lot in advance. BTQ: I’m working within a lab environment.
Hi all, I’m trying to create additional admins accounts with LDAP authentication on Nutanix. I’ve got clusters up and running, got LDAP working, and the generic RBAC ‘VM admin/VM read only’ etc accounts (that I’m creating) are all good. But I thought Nutanix had added the ability to create a full cluster admin with AD authentication rather than creating local ones on something like prism central now? Or am I mistaken? (If someone has a way of doing this, it would be much appreciated). Kind Regards,SiW
Looking for anyone that has been successful with installing windows 11 on Nutanix AHV?I have tried, in my VM creation i have selected UEFI and Secure Boot. What I can’t seem to get to is how to enable TPM? When VM boots there is no way to get into bios to enable TPM. So how do you do that? Thanks
Morning,We have a 5 node cluster using the Lenovo HX series hardware (ThinkAgile HX3521-G).We changed our IMPI range after the installation had completed to an out of band IP range that all our IPMI NICs sit on. I made the change in BIOS and then restarted the genesis services on each node via the node CVM.The Genesis restart appeared to be successful. However when I look at the nodes in the hardware section of Prism element the IPMI address is showing up as a a generic self assigned 169.254.x.x address. What would be the best way to address this?Im new to Nutanix so forgive me if I have missed something super obvious...thanks Graham
Just in case this helps anyone else- I wasted a lot of time on this one this morning. I appreciate ovftools is a VMWare product...I was trying to convert an exported ovf vm folder to .ova as a single file for import into AHV.I was just getting a generic error- file "" could not be opened:trying to test or verify I got similar:c:\Program Files\VMware\VMware OVF Tool>ovftool --verifyOnly --machineOutput V:\Grid-lic-server\Grid-lic-server.vmxERROR+ <Errors>+ <Error>+ <Type>ovftool.io.file.open</Type>+ <LocalizedMsg>+ Failed to open file: V:\Grid-lic-server\Grid-lic-server.vmx+ </LocalizedMsg>+ <Arg>+ V:\Grid-lic-server\Grid-lic-server.vmx+ </Arg>+ </Error>+ </Errors>RESULT+ ERRORNot very illuminating.I tried setting a log output and for next to nothing useful even in verbose mode:However:When I navigated to the local directory and ran the same export / convert command where the .vmx file was located I got:C:\Program Files\VMwa
You have a nice OVF or an OVA image and you are ready to deploy that virtual appliance to AHV. There is just one more step required. Well, maybe more than one. It is not possible to import OVA and OVF files to AHV. Extraction of the files of the image as well as upload of the VMDK files is required prior to deployment. Please follow instructions provided in KB-3621 AHV: Import OVA and OVF image
We got three HPE DL380 Gen9 Server with the HP RAID-Controller H240ar Smart HBA 2-Port SAS 12G on which HBA is enabled.Accordingly to Nutanix this RAID Controller is compatible and should work:https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=HPE-Hardware-Firmware-Compatibility:mod-DL380-8-G9-r.htmlDuring the middle half of the installation via Foundation, we get the following error:StandardError: This node is expected to have exactly 1 AHCI controller. But phoenix could not find any such deviceAfter a quick search I saw this KB-Entry:https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA00e000000LIWmCAOI also made sure to set the SATA Controller Options again manually and rebootet the server multiple times. Also the boot order is set accordingly to the KB-Entry. But I still get this error and phoenix isn’t able to see any AHCI controller via fdisk -l.Do you have any ideas what else I could try?
If you have ever wondered, having a 1000 User VMs in your infrastructure is making administrative jobs pretty difficult for you! You are wrong when it comes to Nutanix HCI.Nutanix makes administration simple and easy.Let’s say you have 500+ User VMs in your system and want to install NGT on those VM, will you do it manually? Will you waste countless hours manually installing NGT on each User VMs?Definitely NO!Prism Central provides you with a feature to install NGT on multiple VM simultaneously with just a few clicks and you can even enable SSR and VSS service while installing NGT.Want to know the procedure?Just give the document a readNGT Installation using Prism Central Have queries regarding NGT or some doubts?Drop a comment and let us start a discussion.
Is it possible for PE or PC to send an email to me when a snapshot is created in the cluster?
Hello, I have installed prism central on cluster (AHV). But no cluster is registered (only prism central is deployed). Now i want to remove prism central. What is a correct way to do this? Thank you in advance. Mindaugas
I am cloning a VM using API V3, by default it was set to DHCP, I want to assign a Static IP via below code, but it is not working. i am not interested to do this Via sysprep file. I configured four Nutanix 3460-G7 nodes, and when they were installed, I tried to log in using the given link (one of the cvm), but since the new nutanix default password was changed to the IPMI serial, I had to try four times before it locked me out. and my pc was detached from the switch for some reason, which I reconnected, but now I couldn't access the prior cvm ip using the gui. Need help guys
NUTANIX documents on upgrading Microsoft OS from 2012 R2 to 2016 reference the need for both the OS ISO file and also the “metadata upgrade JSON file.” Where do I locate the JSON file? It says the Nutanix support portal but I’m not able to access it there. It also mentions the “Hyper-V ISO file” but it’s unclear what that is referencing? If it is referring to the Server 2016 ISO file there doesn’t appear to be any file like this. Upgrade using ISOs. The Prism web console supports 1-click upgrade (Upgrade Software dialog box) of Hyper-V 2016 or 2019 by using metadata upgrade JSON file. This file is available in the Nutanix Support portal Hypervisor Details page and the Microsoft Hyper-V ISO file.Anyone able to point me to where to get this file so I can perform this needed upgrade?
