My grandmother used to make the best chocolate chip cookies, her recipe was unbeatable! I’d love to leave the story there, but one not-so-fine day she thought she’d try a different recipe, just to mix things up. What was she thinking! The new cookies tasted nowhere near as good as her original recipe. Ok, she could’ve spent hours upon hours in the kitchen refining the new recipe, experimenting with ingredients and so on, but what would be the point? She already had a tried-and-tested recipe for choc chip cookies that everyone loves, chocoholic visitors knew exactly what they were getting… so, why change? Fortunately in the end she saw it that way too - the new recipe was ditched and the original one was back in the oven, much to everyone’s delight. So why am I talking about chocolate chip cookies? Nutanix object storage replication

I have been recently exploring the solution around syncing the nutanix object storage with AWS s3 bucket and GCS bucket. I have gone through the object replication to move data from onprem to cloud Move On-Prem Data to the Cloud with Ease | Tech Bytes | Nutanix University which is pretty straight forward and impressive. My usecase is if I update the content in AWS s3 bucket or GCS bucket will that be replicated on nutanix object storage as well?

Recycle bin stat in nutanix v5

Hello, How can I check the recycle bin in Nutanix v5? I’m facing a space issue with the default container. When I delete a VM, the available space in the container doesn’t seem to change. Regarding the snapshot files, I have snapshots that I can’t delete located in the path /default-container-/.snapshot.

Did Nutanix API authentication use NTLM v1?

Dears: Currently, I found a problem when using Prometheus to monitor Nutanix Objects according to https://prism IP:9440/oss/api/nutanix/metrics. This works fine for a long time. But when our AD team disable NTLM v1 in domain controller, problem happened, Prometheus could not work as before to get the data from API. Current Prometheus config is like below: - job_name : ' object_exporter_bucketname ’ metrics_path : / oss / api /nutanix/metrics/[object store name]/[bucket name] scheme: https scrape_interval : 90s static_configs : - targets: ［https://Prism Central IP:9440］ tls_config : insecure_skip_ verify : true basic_auth : username: ［Prism Central service account ］ password: ［ Password of service account ］ Anyone know if NTLM v1 is used during API authentication?

How to backup objects which is located Nutanix Objects?

Hi team: We are doing POC for Nutanix Objects. So far function testing has no problems, but we have a question about backup: How to backup objects which is located Nutanix Objects? I don’t know if there are 3rd backup software supports to backup objects in Nutanix Objects. We now use IBM TSM and EMC Networker for on-premises backup for VMDK, file and DB. Thanks!

When deploying Nutanix Objects on ESXi, is NSX-T essential?

Dears: I have a POC plan to deploy Nutanix Objects on ESXi, on the Objects guide, it mentioned “The minimum supported version of NSX-T is 2.4.” I want to know if we do not use NSX-T, is it OK to deploy Objects? How to implement IPAM? Will Nutanix implement it by itself? Thanks!

Objects Sizing & HA

Hi, We are looking to take an application which is currently running in AWS using S3 storage and deploy it on-prem on Nutanix. So I'm looking at Nutanix Objects, not because we need massive scale or throughput (a few TB and a few operations per sec), but simply so we get an S3 interface so don't need any application changes. However high availability is important, the service needs to stay up through VM crashes, node failures, upgrades etc. I can't seem to find any advice on sizing or much specifics about HA in the docs. Going through the create object store wizard, if I select 2 worker nodes I get only one load balancer which is presumably a single point of failure, when you get to 3 worker nodes you get 2 x LBs. So would I be correct that 3 x workers & 2 x LBs is the minimum HA setup? This wants a total of 104GB & 34 cores which feels massively excessive for a small deploy. Any advice is appreciated. S3 object store over multiple clusters with single namespace

L.s, First time here with a question (there must be a first time) We want to create a environment with a Splunk/Nutanix combination. The storage for Splunk will be smartstore, so the warm storage is S3 compliant storage, something Nutanix can provide. The question comes from the fact that we will span Splunk acros two site’s. So each site will have a storage cluster and a compute cluster (multiple clusters because more then 3 hops). Site A has a compute cluster and a storage cluster, site B has the same. The Storage cluster will be synced between eachother. Splunk validated architecture says to have a loadbalancer between the Splunk indexers and the S3 storage. So when the storage in Site B fails.. Site B can use Site A as storage. But also the loadbalancer sends the compute cluster to the nearest storage available. Does Nutanix has something for this loadbalancer question? Can two clusters be adressed by one ip, ore is it indeed necessary to use a external loadbalancer? Thanks in adva

Nutanix AOS Feature Violation

Hi Team, What if some random people run a feature like Nutanix Object without having a proper license for it, what they just have is only for AOS license. 1. will they successfully use it in the cluster? ​​​​​​​2.will that Object feature be affected when the active AOS license expires? 3.Nutanix license is perpetual right? so when it expires all features are still working except support from TAC but what about the features that runs illegally, will they be affected once active license that doesnt supports the feature they enabled expires?
