Hello,I´m new in this forum. In fact I´m new in the Nutanix world. We currently have a traditional VMWARE cluster with traditional FC SAN Storage and Catalyst 3850 switches (7 servers). We are planning to replace it with a brand new solution based on NUTANIX (with 6 nodes or so) but using VMWARE as hypervisor. The question that arise are:We need to install 2 new “top of the rack” switches for NUTANIX connections. If using Cisco (and taking into account our proposed cluster size) which one could we use ? I mean, Catalyst 9300 are ok ? Or they have to be the more expensive Nexus ? To reduce initial costs we are planning to keep the Cat 3850 to act as coreswitch and also because we need to conect other devices, but we need to ones for the new nodes. Our current VMWARE Servers have 2 x 10G connection for DATA/VEEAM BK and 2 x 1G for vSphere MGMT/vMotion. In order to cope with data traffic but also with “disk sinc” traffic, should we provide the new nodes with 4 x 10G (2 for DATA/veeam BK
Hi,Having an issue migrating a Windows Server 2019 OS into Nutanix. We are using version 4.1.0 of Move and we have successfully migrated one VM already. However this 2nd VM fails with a “Query Changed Page Ranges” failed message. It appears to be able to create a snapshot of the disk but then fails after a while. Any ideas?
hello all i am in this tight situation. as i have AOS PRO license i only can do is Async replication but i really need to make the RPO 0 so, i am thinking to leverage application level replication. for example in exchange application I want to leverage DAG replication method to be able to sync both main and DR site with RPO=0so my question if i do this configuration and take out my exchange server from any protection domain, do you think Nutanix would still give me support if the replication process have a fault after time?
Hi All, Would like to seek your advice/recommendation way to migrate physical linux/windows to Nutanix AHV via free tools ONLY without purchase third party tools or additional costs. Just wondering is there any tools that available for us or any alternative way without any additional costs? We have some requirements;5 physical linux servers. 5 physical windows servers. Appreciate it in advanced. Regards,John
Hi Nutanix Sizer tool development team,If you have possible, Could you enhance of notice mail function when the Sizer tool updated ?

I have AHV 5.11 cluster, i configured br1 with CVM eth2 interface attached and followed all the instructions via cli to configure CVM multihoming to segregate 1g and 10g network. My issues is inspite of attaching cvm eth2 interface to br1, i am not able to access cvm eth2 via br1 network but i can access it via br0.
I attempt to start a nutanix cluster service with command nutanix cluster. But the status is on waiting as below. any idea? I cant login to the nutanix web consoleWaiting on <ip address> (Up, ZeusLeader) to start:There is clusterhealth down on one of the node
Hi all,I’m trying to use terraform to create VMs on our Nutanix cluster and I’ve encountered issues when trying to define the project name i’m trying to assign the new VM to.I have created a variable that contains the project name and set the project_reference on the machine to point to that variable. When running terraform plan everything seems to be working as expected but when i apply the terraform, the terraform crashes with the following error:│ Error: Plugin did not respond││ with nutanix_virtual_machine.tf-build-project-test[0],│ on main.tf line 75, in resource "nutanix_virtual_machine" "tf-build-project-test":│ 75: resource "nutanix_virtual_machine" "tf-build-project-test" {││ The plugin encountered an error, and failed to respond to the plugin.(*GRPCProvider).ApplyResourceChange call. I’m attempting to import an RVTools into the Sizer tool. I want to exclude some of the VMs before import by editing the RVTools file. When I edit the file and try to import, I get an error “Host cluster cell not found”There are more than 300 VMs, so I can’t import on the VM level and just disable the individual workloads there.Any ideas or methods anyone would suggest to editing the RVTools beforehand? Thanks in advance!
We have a lab setup with 3 Nutanix nodes in one cluster with model NX-1175S-G6, this Servers have a 2x10GbE ports on each and we have a network switch which is unfortunately Gigabit Ethernet switch DGS-1210-52MP (does not have any 10 GbE switch available right now) for our lab setup. and I want to bridge successfully an active-active bond and LAG,LACP will be enabled and configured on the switch . and I want to make sure the speed is negotiated and to able to work with 1 GbE. Also has a need a no more massage from ncc check “CVM is not uplinked to any 10Gbps nics on bridge/vSwitch br0”. So any expert advice will be taken seriously. Thanns in advance for your suggestions.
AHV supports GPU-accelerated computing for guest VMs. You can configure either GPU pass-through or a virtual GPU. Let us say you have an AHV host with GPU compatible hardware and looking for a simple way to install the required drivers. Nutanix recommends a specific method for installing the Nvidia GPU host driver in AHV hosts. The method involves a script which is used for installation or upgrade of all the hosts in the cluster. Go through the following document to understand the process in-depth Installing AHV GPU Drivers Have questions regarding the usage of the script? What will happen if one of the nodes doesn’t have a GPU? What will happen if the driver version is different on one node than the rest of the cluster? How can I install the driver onto the new nodes only, without affecting the currently running nodes? Can I install different versions of the driver onto different nodes of the cluster? The following knowledge base article can help you to
X-Ray is an automated testing framework and benchmarking application for enterprise-grade data centers. The X-ray application is a downloadable virtual machine (VM) with a user interface and complete documentation. Once installed, X-ray can test and analyze several different systems and report comparable information for your use. X-ray provides test scenarios for hype converged platforms that demonstrate variations in areas such as performance, data integrity and availability. Note: X-Ray is a tool for test environments and not intended for production environments.X-ray runs one test scenario per target at a time.Do not install the X-Ray VM on a cluster that you are using as an X-Ray test target, or a cluster that you are planning to use as an X-Ray test target. X-ray test scenarios: Availability: X-ray tests how a hype converged solution tolerates a node failure during a workload. X-Ray can measure how the failure of one node affects the availability of the whole system. Performa
Nutanix Objects is deployed on top of the Nutanix platform, it can take advantage of AOS features like deduplication, compression, replication and more. I need some help for understanding Prism Central Image Management. When I read Prism Central Guide (Limitations) I don’t understand “During the copy operation, cluster A becomes unavailable.”This comment in Prism Central Guide mean that can’t use “cluster A” Prism Element ? Also that mean All acting is suspend like VM Provisioning Operation in "cluster A"?I want to know side effect and exactly what act is occurred using “cluster A” when becomes unavailable. Please help me.Thank you for your help :)
We’ve been recently exploring upgrading some code that interfaces with our Nutanix prism element from the v1 API to v3 and we are having issues retrieving the CVM from the v2 or v3 of the API.Looking at the response from the: /vms/ call on the v1 API we receive 10 total entries which include our CVM:v1 vms API resultv1 vms CVM resultYet when we make the equivalent API call on versions 2 or 3 we are only receiving 9 entries back and the result set does not contain the CVM:v2 vms API resultv3 vms API resultAfter searching through the API documentation nothing immediately stands out as an appropriate endpoint to get the CVM. My question then is how do we retrieve the CVM when using the v3 or v2 API?
Files supports AOS software encryption and in-flight message encryption for SMB3 shares. You can only apply AOS software encryption to files by activating it through Prism. Refer to the file release Notes to ensure that you are running a compatible version of AOS. SMB3 Message Encryption: After enabling message encryption, the file encrypts messages on the file server side and decrypts them on the client side (only on the new connections for the share). Clients that do not support encryption (Linux, Mac, windows 7) cannot access a share with encryption enabled. Authentication: Active Directory with Kerberos provides secure authentication. File supports the following Kerberos encryption types. Advanced Encryption Standard 128 with the Keyed-Hash Message Authentication code and Cryptographic Hash Function SHA1 Advanced Encryption Standard 256 with the Keyed-Hash Message Authentication Message Authentication code and Cryptographic Hash function SHA1 (AES-256-HMAC-SHA1) Rivet cipher
To update the directory services configuration, do the following:Procedure: Go to the File Server dashboard, click the File Server tab, select the target file server and then click Protocol Management Click Directory Services In the Directory Services window, select the protocols you want to use and complete the fields for the selected protocols. You can select SMB, NFS or both. Each protocol contains more fields to complete. 4. When all the fields are correct, click the Update button. Authentication:Depending on the primary and secondary protocols configured for your file server, access and authentication configuration vary. File servers using SMB protocol must configure Active Directory (AD). File servers using the NFS protocol can use Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), AD, or unmanaged authentication services. LDAPWhen you configure LDAP as the authentication service, Files uses Netgroups to control client access. The Files LDAP setup is based on the RFC 2307 st
Hi Team,Am a beginner in learning Nutanix, please guide me in getting understanding the below!. if we have a Esxi Cluster using Prism Element, we can manager the operations?each host in the Esxi cluster will have CVM!if we connected to <a.Esxi host> from the cluster to execute a command using "aCLI", why the commands, will pass to other CVM's (CVM - inside hosts)?
I have a 20+node cluster and 2 nodes had multiple hard drives go out between them ( 1 SSD and 6 SATA). They are all showing stuck. I do not see any replication happening when using this command: curator_cli get_under_replication_info summary=true. All nodes show up good when using this command:nodetool -h 0 ring | grep Normal Would it be a good idea to kill the tasks with this command:cvm$ progress_monitor_cli --entity_id="<Entity_ID>" --entity_type=<Package_Name> --operation=<Operation -delete
Once we run out of the space while deploying new VM, why we need to Deselect Enable HA (it must be set within the limitations or Admissioin Control must restrict to deploy beyone the threshold), where the VM's going to reboot on other hosts (which will be a production impact)
Hi All, I’m sorry if asking questions on group. I have new deployment with HPE DX360 via foundation portable 5.0.1 and flat switch but somehow it run into error and error message prompted during installation via foundation which im not so sure why. Im using foundation 5.01 and upload with aos 5.20. Interested to test Nutanix Move on my CE installation in my lab. But I didn't found how to download it without registration on portal , that require real Nutanix serial number. How may I download Nutanix move? Please provide needed link.
Hi I’m new to nutanix with ESXi. I recently deployed a 4 nodes nutanix with esxi. I’ve created containers and add the nodes to the vCenter. I have not add the vCenter to the Prism. I check at prism and there’s a warning saying the hosts are not connected to vCenter. Anyone encounter this issue before?
Hi I would Like to add 2 Different group of user from my Active Directory access Nutanix System. Can advice me the step i need to do in Nutanix System.
