How to Edit RVTools before import to Sizer

I’m attempting to import an RVTools into the Sizer tool. I want to exclude some of the VMs before import by editing the RVTools file.  When I edit the file and try to import, I get an error “Host cluster cell not found”

There are more than 300 VMs, so I can’t import on the VM level and just disable the individual workloads there.

Any ideas or methods anyone would suggest to editing the RVTools beforehand?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Brent,

Thank you for posting your query here. Couple of questions to help you on this one:

  1. Can you please let us know the edits you made to the RVTools output file?
  2. Which version of RVTools was used to gather the information?

Would be great if you can share us the edited file and the original file to speed up the resolution.

Thanks,

Arun Vijapur

I basically just updated the Powerstate field across the vInfo, vCPU, vMemory, vDisk, vPartition, vNetwork, vCD, vSnapshot, & vTools to poweredOff so that I could exclude powered off systems during the import.

Is it possible to share the edited file with us? If not I will have to check with engineering team on the possible root causes.

I can share the file.  Where should I send it?

You could email it to either Sizer Help <sizerhelp@nutanix.com> or arun.vijapur@nutanix.com

On its way!

It is failing since there are missing entries in ‘Cluster’ column of vHost sheet. Once it is filled the import works fine.
