I would like to ask for some help on identifying why I receive below error prior to installing Nutanix Community Edition on a HPE Gen9 Server. We want to install Nutanix Community v2.0 for some LAB testing on a single 1U server.Steps we have taken for the install.1. I have created a bootable disk on a USB with version: phoenix-ce2.0-fraser-6.5.2-stable-fnd-5.3.4-x86_642. After boot all looks OK and we are configuring the disks as below: Attached is "Disk_config.PNG" - This is what we have as a Disk. Only C is SSD. The 16GB is the Install Media.3. I accept the EULA and scroll to the bottom4. Here is where the issue appears. We receive an ERROR Please supply 'Serial Number'. I have checked in NEXT and online but no luck..5. When I hit Enter it goes back to EULA.I was able to install the same way when I do it on ESXI, but on bare metal it looks like we are failing some king of S/N check..
I’m testing Nutanix on an old server (1065-G5 generation). The connection between Prism and vCenter is registered, but not established. I’m using AOS 5.20.4, ESX 7.0.3, NCC 4.5.0.2. The port 80 is opened and redirected to HTTPS. What could be the cause?

I’m developing Ansible playbooks to deploy Linux and WIndows servers from disk images and using cloud-init (already working) and sysprep (forthcoming, I’m not a Windows specialist)The NGT Tools are pre-installed in images. The problem is that new VMs show NGT : “Not Installed” in Prism. Is there something else to do ?Thx
Hi AllHavoc struck this morning when I tried to move my AHV cluster from old switch stack to new switch stack - the hosts, I think went into panic mode and started to restart various VMs.The background to this is: I have 2 x Dell X4012 core switches and 2 x Dell N3024 ToR switches, currently due to moving VMware environment to Nutanix only 1 x X4012 is connected to NIC 1 on each of the 3 hosts. From the X4012 there is a cross connect into the old VMware network Core blade switches (Dell 8024 x 2) which are connected to the old ToR N3048 switch stack, these are then connected to the router for VPLS and DMZ. So to move the connectivity, I thought I could add the second NICs of the hosts to the second X4012 and disconect the crossconnect and the first NICs thus using the newer switches, albeit on the opposite NICs. I planned to reconfigure and update the first X4012 and add back into the stack with a LAG to the N3024 stack and no crossconnect. I moved the NIC connections and lost all
Hello Nutanix Community,We are running Nutanix HCI on Lenovo servers having three-node cluster & currently the cluster has less capacity. We have 2 empty HDD slots on each Lenovo serves and we are planning to insert same capacity HDD drives on all 3 servers. So totally 6 HDD with a capacity of 2.4TB each.I would like to know how to configure and expand the storage? Please note that I’m new to Nutanix so kindly help me from scratch:-)Thanks in advance to everyone.
Hey guys, newbie to the forum here. I recently setup a ce version of Nutanix in our work lab environment on vsphere. Up until last week I was able to log into the gui, I can still login via putty. When I try to log into the gui now, via xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9440/console/#login - I get the above message.I have also had the message "server is not reachable”I did think about trying the install again but thought I would ask the question first and see if anyone else has had the same problem and if so how they got around it? Thanks in advance.

Hello,We used compression and deduplication for a while but now it is not necessary.I disabled these functions in the storage settings but the cluster is still showing the dedup space savings with no changes. This is after a week or so of turning dedupe off.I can’t find any documentation around disabling dedupe and what is required to ‘unoptimize’ the data.I’m using AOS 5:15.5.1 LTS and this is an old NX-1050 3 node system.TIA
Hello, I have a Nutanix 1175S-G8 and I need to enter the IPMI to see the status of the system hardware. I would like to know if I can enter the IPMI without doing the initial configuration or installing a block, it would help me a lot to know, thanks!
Hello,Does "Host Boot Disk Repair" require IPMI and cvm/host to communicate with each other? Is IPMI cable connection required?Does it fail if there is no communication? Thank you.

We want to configure Nutanix Flow Security for which we would like to whether we need to consider configuring anything major on NTX Flow networking side or the micro segmentation will do the intended job ?
I just created a new cluster but there is no default virtual switch created (vs0).Is this something expected ? Ventura
Hi All,We currently have an 1 Block, 3-node cluster (NX-1065-G5) with approximately 50 VMs on it. It is approaching end of life, and we are replacing it with another 1 Block, 3-node unit (NX-1065N-G8). At end-state all of the VMs will be on the new hardware, and the old hardware will be powered down.Would we be better to…Build the new unit as a brand new cluster, and move all the VMs to it using Nutanix Move. Expand the existing cluster by adding the new hardware to it, and then remove the old hardware from the cluster. Has anyone gone through either of these processes?Thank you for your suggestions.Marlon M.

Using LCM to update Foundation to version 5.4 I am finding that it consistently fails on Lenovo hardware.I’ve tried two clusters so far that were both at AOS version 6.5.2 but both LCM updates of Foundation to version 5.4 failed.Ominously there is mention in the Field Installation Giude for Foundation 5.4 (link below) that “Software Update” should not be used to update Foundation on Lenovo platforms, and advises to use the command line instead. It worked when using the command line, so my question is: what’s going wrong when LCM attempts this?https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Field-Installation-Guide-v5_4:fie-upgrade-foundation-vm-c.htmlWhat tends to happen is that most nodes except 1 or 2 are successfully updated, with the remaining node neeing to be done by hand from the command line.
I want to create a configuration in Sizer that takes a snapshot once a day. However, an error message is displayed on Sizer and configuration is not possible."Cluster: 'Cluster-1' nodes with SSD capacity less than 7.68TB are not allowed when configuring Hybrid nodes with RPO of 6 hour and node capacity ranging from >96TB upto 136TB. For more info, refer to Nutanix Maximum Configurations & Snapshot Frequency Field Requirements"Sizer's workload only has Daily Snapshots set."Hourly Snapshot Retained" is unchecked. However, for some reason, the condition check for 6 hours RPO is caught, and the hardware cannot be configured. What should I do to remove this error?
HiNutanix 6.6.2.5What is the difference for the following storage containers, except the replication factor, compression, etc..) ? I mean what is meant to be placed for the certain containers. For example, when I deployd Prism Central, then there was an option between “default-..” and “SelfServiceContainer”, so my question is, which is for what (images, VM’s, etc..)..?Thanks.RegardsRaul

Hi, I’m trying to make some changes to a configuration I put together for a customer, in relation to the Mine backup. I am trying to alter any aspect (in particular I’m trying to change the retention to be longer, wtih fewer VM’s) - but each time I try I get the error “ The number of Server Virtualisation VMs in cluster: CLUSTER should not be more than total nodes in the cluster. “ Anyone know what this is please?
Dears:We have a 3 node pure NVME SSD clusters with RF 2. Now we plan to expand more 5 nodes and change the RF from 2 to 3. We have a little worried about the performance on :(1). During conversion phase from 2 copies to 3 copies.(2). For BAU usage, if RF3 performance will slower than RF2 because every write need do 3 times compared of 2 times. I got the question 1 answer from Nutanix Resiliency – Part 2 – Converting from RF2 to RF3 | CloudXC (joshodgers.com) and want to see any more experience. For question 2, any experiences could be shared? Thank you very much! P.S. We have enabled compression feature.
