I went about updating a couple ESXi hosts the old school way with using zip files and doing vib installs. My first host worked without a hitch. My second victim... I mean host is having problems. In total I installed 4 zips per host. After bringing the second one back out of maintenence mode, and having the CVM start, a few minutes later I keep getting errors about the CVM not connecting. Then I check the console on the CVM in question, and it keeps rebooting, after a kernel panic. Here's the beginning of the output: Any insight on what I can do?

Hi Folks, Got something wiered happened today, might be a bug or something. I was to change current time zone setting by Get-NTNXCluster | Set-NTNXCluster -Timezone "Australia/Sydney" However it throw me an error: "The cluster name may contain only English letters, decimal digits (0-9), dots, hyphens and underscores. Set-NTNXCluster : The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error." Then I thought it might be because I did not include cluster id, so I ran below command : Get-NTNXContainer -Id xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx::4769 | Set-NTNXCluster -Timezone "Australia/Sydney" Apprently you will find instead of using Get-NTNXCluster, I used Get-NTNXContainer which I copied from command I previously ran without double check, you would assume that will throw me an error, but it did not, it finished with a "Success". Yes, it did change the timezone on the cluster, however at the same time it changed cluster name to the Container name as wel
Hi Folks, I'm in the middle of a deployment and have a question. We have a pair of Nexus 3548's acting as 10 G edge switch to our Nuntanix Clusters who are trunked up to a pair of Cisco 4500's We have 4 nodes in the cluster with a total of 10 nics all 10 gig and assigned to the VDS in Vsphere. On the VDS we set the MTU to 9000 Is there a way to separate the CVM traffic from the management traffic? I would like to keep the CVM traffic from going up to the 4500's however we needed to create an SVI on the 4500's so we could manage them. I'm getting Jumbo frame errors on both the Nexus and the 4500's and when I set the MTU on the VDS back to 1500 the errors went away. My guess is the CVM traffic is what's causing the issues and I would prefre not to mess with the MTU settings on the 4500's. What is best practice here? What are other doing? Thanks
Hi all! I'm currently working on a Nutanix Template for Zabbix that I will share with community once it's finished. I've a little problem with some SNMP answers Zabbix receives from prism. I'm asking for OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.41263.11.1.3.1 This OID is the cstControllerVMStatus.1. It should return Up or Down if the CVM with index 1 is Up or Down. When I run it in Zabbix, the answer is "55 70 00". Is "55 70 00" a value that means 'Up'? In this case what is the value for 'Down'? Regards,
Hello Nutanix community, Yesterday, I tried installing a Nutanix block by Foundation PC to change the hypervisor from HyperV to AHV. But unluckily error occurred with 3 nodes per 4 nodes and one node had been successfully installed. Although all 4 nodes had already run with the same configuration before, why this case happened?! After 1 day troubleshooting, I had finally and luckily installed 3 nodes left by resetting IPMI on these nodes. As I already followed the Foundation document from Nutanix, "please have a look at the logs files at /data/logs/foundation... on each nodes" to get the details of problem, but actually, in my case those log files did not contain any data that related to the errors occurred?! So how could I dive deeper into the problem that I had? They were still there but no words, to sentences, no data?! I really need a document that explains in detail how Foundation works, so that I can troubleshoot it easier than I had yesterday. Can Nutanix publicily post it

Hi Team , I would like to know if my Nutanix 3 x nodes cluster has 64GB RAM each , can i provision a single VM with 128GB RAM in a single host or do i need to manual remove physical RAM and put all in a single host to provision the VM? NOS : 4.5.0.2 Hypervisor: Hyper-V
Hi, i have been using Foundation 3.0 to reimage 6 new nodes, they are separate in 4 blocks. There are three 6035-G4 and three 6035-C. While using Foundation i have selected to install ESXi 6.0 and the NOS version is 4.5.2 For a weird reason (im new at nutanix) three of them (6035-C) where intalled with AHV and three of them with ESXi 6.0 (6035-G4). Is this an expected behaviour? Regards. Francisco.-
Hi all, finally, after a long POC i'm a new Nutanix customer :D I'm waiting N°2 NX-1365S with 6 nodes and the idea is to create a new vsphere cluster version 6 and migrate the existing VM's from the old vsphere 5.5u2. I've just check the Nutanix support page and i see the latest supported version is 6.0u1a build 3.073.146. This version seems to be affected to CBT issue, is it possible to install the correction patch (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2136854) after the the installation? Or install directly the 6.0u1b? Thanks in advance, and have a good w.end!

Hi All We have a customer whose workload is currently fully virtualized on VMware integrated over a Legacy Three Tier Architecture. Most of their hardware devices is EoL, and after an audit of the infrastructure, we have recommended them to go in the direction of Hyper Converged Infrastructure, focussing on Nutanix They are potentially looking at a configuration of 1TB minimum per node of memory. Is there a work around to configure my SSD as an extended memory area to able to match their requirement? Kind Regards
HI Guyzz, recently i used foundation 3.0 to image nutanix nodes with hyperv.but imaging got stuck at 82%.then i imaged node using 2.version of foundation. Then i came to see the 3.0.1 release note in which it is mentioned the problem with hyperv imaging is removed in 3.0.1 version so if you have any base version upgrade to latest version and check the release note before using foundation hope this will help cheers

In regards to deploying ESXi 5.5 or 6.x hypervisor in the field. The most recent version of Phoenix available for ESXi appears to be 2.0.4. Does that mean I need to download Foundation components 2.0 and not 3.x? Also, the file name for Phoenix version 2.0.4 is "phoenix-2.0.4_ESX_NOS-4.1.1.4.iso". Does that mean it is for ESXi 4.1, and is not supported for ESXi 5.x or 6.x? Thank you.
Hello, Nutanix article 000001037 (Configuring VMware Distributed Switch (vDS) on Nutanix Platform) only has ESXi 5.1 and earlier as "versions affected", does anyone know if there is anything special / extra to configure on ESXi 5.5? Thank you.
When trying to upgrade NOS or NCC I'm getting this error: "Error while executing HTTP REST request: Could not connect to Genesis" The updates have already downloaded. This occurs even if I pick a lower version to upgrade to. I'm going from 4.1.4 to 4.5.1.2 (NOS) and 2.01 to 2.1.4. Any ideas? Is there a service I should restart or something? Thanks! Mike
