Create VM on different container using image service

Hi, In 5.5 when you upload image using prism central it gets uploded at selfservice container. If I want to create different container using image stored in selfservice container how to achieve that?

Distributed object storage on Nutanix

Hi, we're starting to look at using Spark on our Nutanix cluster. Not in a huge way but to run some ETL processes in parallel. I'm under pressure to install Hadoop, or at least HDFS on the cluster but the entire concept of adding a distributed, resilient "filesystem" (actually I think it's more an object store) on top of the one already provided by Nutanix seems somewhat off. Is there a recommended way of doing this? I know that containers are exported to ESXi via NFS. Would that be usable? Would that be able to leverage stargate to access from anywhere? All I really need is a globally available volume shared between all my nodes.

AD DC on Nutanix Hyper-V

Hi I found the KB below stating you can't virtualize domain controllers on Nutanix Hyper-V. Because Hyper-V wants to contact the AD server before it can power up any VM on Nutanix storage, and the AD server would not be available because the VM cannot be booted." I am of the understanding that this might have been a thing in up until 2008 R2, but this should not be a problem when running Hyper-V on 2012 R2. Anyone that could shed some light on the matter? Would like to call the support line, but that is not an option right now since it has nothing to do with our own nutanix nodes. EDIT: Solved. Found out it is due to the SMB3 share of the nutanix cluster, which requires authentication from the domain.

PC 5.5 not opening prim element

Post depoying Prism Element 5.5 we added Nutanix cluster which are running AOS 5.1.3 & AOS 5.1.2. But while launching element from central it shows error unable to access prism element. Windows Server 2016 RRAS Role and VirtIO Compatibility

NUTANIX & NSX

Hi guys, I'm still digging to give corrects answer to my manager who is puting pros and cons for nutanix on the table. As I need to make a design without knowing exactly where he want to go, I'm making assomption on it. I understood that they wanted to put NSX on it VRA and vCloud SP. I've found a couple of recommandations / tips on NSX over NUTANIX but nothing that can be used on design part (more on implementation which is quite cool !) Do someone have integrated it on a 4.5 cluster ? do Nutanix plan to give us a technical note / any other cool stuff on NSX ? sheers,

what about memory management on ahv

Hi everyone, I'm struggling to find some documents about how ahv manages the virtual machine's ram. As far as I know, it doesn't share ram among vms....but, for example, what about overhead? Is it necessary to consider some overhead in addition to guest ram?Thank you all

Hi I am an absolute noob so please be gentle to me. Can I know if Nutanix supports applications built that run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux? Basically, I have many applications that run on RHEL 7 that I am in the process of virtualizing using RHEV. SAP Hana certified on Nutanix?

Hi, As per SAP Note 2428012 - SAP on Nutanix (Version 10 from Mar 15, 2017 in English), it states that " [b]HANA Support[/b] As of now, no Nutanix hardware is certified to run HANA workloads. However, if you wish to leverage a fully supported solution for HANA alongside Nutanix, only a Bridge to HANA solution is supported. For more information". Whats the latest new on this, is HANA supported now, if yes can you please let me know the SAP note or any source assosiated with it Regards Sreeram

Veeam One VM heartbeat alerts nightly in a chain by host

This is really weird, every night we are getting veeam one "Heartbeat is missing for VM" alerts from every guest in our protection domain, in a chain, by host. For instance, one host starts at 6:30pm and is all resolved by 8:50pn, then the next at 12am and resolved by 5am, then the last at 8am and resolved by 820am. We don't have backups going at 6pm (they start at 8) and the snapshots go all day, hourly, so it can't be those causing it. Seems like some sort of nightly maintenance on the hosts that would be causing the issue. Any idea where I could look to see those logs?

AHV VM CPU Usage consumes higher % than ESXi?

My customer reported that in their test, the CPU Usage of AHV VM always consumes 10% higher than ESXi so I am going to find out what is the most suitable reason behind this problem I have searched around and find out this blog below that having a paragraph pointing about hypervisor bottleneck: "The Nutanix Controller VM (CVM) runs on top of multiple hypervisors and delivers excellent performance, but there is always room for improvement. With our extensive experience with in-kernel and virtual machine based storage solutions, we quickly learned that the [b]biggest bottleneck is the hypervisor itself[/b]." Migrate VMs with boot firmware set to UEFI from VMware ESXi 5.5 to AVH

I have a large number of VMs created with the boot firmware set to EFI. As I understand it, AHV cannot convert "out of the box" The options I have been told include the following:- [list] [*]Use VMware Convertor to perform a virtual to virtual VM conversion to change the boot firmware back to BIOS [*]Use an import tool to bring in the VMDK files over and run a CLI command to accept the UEFI setup[/list] Does this sound right? Is there an easier way? Can new VMs under AHV be created with UEFI ?

Replace HDD/SSD with different capacity

Hi, I would like to ask if Nutanix support replace SSD/HDD with different capacity. The reason I ask is that I want to keep the certain Hot Data ratio when data growth but without a growth on compute capacity. My concern is that if I just add the NX-6035C could allow me to growth my data, but the SSD may not enough for maintain the ratio of required Hot Data. Thanks.
