I have a Hyper-V VM that I want to migrate to our Nutanix AHV cluster. This VM has a C Drive and 2 ISCSI mounted drives that are mounted within the VM through the Windows ISCSI Initiator. Will Move migrate those 2 disks as well or do I need to plan to copy data after the migration has taken place?
Hi everyone, Is Nutanix Move 3.x is available for download in CE Edition ?
Nutanix Move Can't migrate vm (SQL) in vmware it show PCIE pass-through not support only 1 Server. Thank you for answer.
Nutanix Move is a cross-hypervisor migration solution to migrate VMs with minimal downtime supporting three types of sources for migration: migration of VMs running on an ESXi hypervisor managed by vCenter; migration of EBS backed EC2 instances running on AWS; migration of VMs running on a Hyper-V hypervisor. Nutanix Move also supports the migration of AWS EC2 VMs to AHV on the Nutanix cluster. You can perform the following operations with Nutanix Move. Migrate powered on or powered off VMs. Note: For AWS, the migration takes place in powered on state. For ESXi, the powered state is retained. Pause and resume migration Schedule migration Schedule data-seeding for the virtual machines in advance and cut over to a new AHV cluster Manage VM migrations between multiple clusters from a single management interface Sort and group VMs for easy migration Monitor details of migration plan execution even at the individual VM level Cancel in-progress migration for individual VMs Migrate all AHV c

Hello; When i try to migrate a Vm from Esxi to AHV with Move, the operation is being failed sometimes. Migration Status steps go well until last step "install device drivers". The error is this: "Failed to execute guest command: 'msiexec.exe /i C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware174\Nutanix-VirtIO-latest-stable.msi /quiet' ExitCode: '1603'." My AOS version is 5.10.5. The OS is windows server 2016. I logged in with Built-in Administrator account and i installed VirtIO 1.1.4 manually. I can migrate some Server 2016 Vms but there is a problem about some Vms.
Hi; I have an ubuntu server on vmware and i want to migrate it to AHV with Move. when i type "uname -a" output is: Linux TKMAPP1 4.2.0-42-generic #49~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 29 20:22:11 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux when i type "grep -i virtio /boot/config-`uname -r`" output is: CONFIG_NET_9P_VIRTIO=m CONFIG_VIRTIO_BLK=y CONFIG_SCSI_VIRTIO=m CONFIG_VIRTIO_NET=y CONFIG_CAIF_VIRTIO=m CONFIG_VIRTIO_CONSOLE=y CONFIG_HW_RANDOM_VIRTIO=m CONFIG_DRM_VIRTIO_GPU=m CONFIG_VIRTIO=y # Virtio drivers CONFIG_VIRTIO_PCI=y CONFIG_VIRTIO_PCI_LEGACY=y CONFIG_VIRTIO_BALLOON=y CONFIG_VIRTIO_INPUT=m CONFIG_VIRTIO_MMIO=y CONFIG_VIRTIO_MMIO_CMDLINE_DEVICES=y As i see VirtIO drivers are installed. And then when i start to migrate on Move an error pop up is appears: SCSI VirtIO device driver not found. Please download and install the appropriate device driver before retrying the migration. What can i do for this issue ?

Hello evryone, I want to migrate a Linux VM from VMWare ESXI infrastructure to AHV infrastructure. I use Xtract for do this. But when the plan is created afer a certain time the status plan becomes "failed" and I have this error message : "Internal target agent error '[Container="SMI_DS_NUTANIX_JAG_1", Err="exit status 32", Location="/root/workspace/xtract_vm_qcow2_builder_prod/go/src/tgtagent/ahvtargetprovider.go:985"] Container mount failed (error=0x4012)'" Thank you all for your answers Xtract version : 2.0.2 ESXI version : 5.5 AHV version : 20170830.185
I wanted to clarify if Xtract is just for converting from ESXi / Hyper-V /AWS to AHV or if ESXi to ESXi conversions are suppported with Xtract 2.0 / Move 3.0. We have about 100 VMs we'd like to move from one ESXi cluster to another ESXi cluster and I know we could use VM Converter or cross cluster vMotions (where supported) but wanted to see if the native Nutanix tools are also an option for this type of migration. I had thought it was mainly for migrations to AHV, has that changed?
We have a couple production SQL servers on our ESXi Cluster that need be transitioned to our new Nutanix Cluster. Nutanix Best Practices indicates that the SQL servers should be created new on the Nutanix Cluster instead of doing a VM move from ESXi to AHV. I am aware that Nutanix had Xtract Db for awhile that was supposed to make moving a SQL instance possible but they have since discontinued the product. I must assume they had issues with it. My question is what are the technical implications of using Nutanix Move to "move" the SQL VM from ESXi to AHV? I have used the tool to move a number of non-SQL VMs without any issues. Knowing that the underlying Hyper-visor components are changing and the VirtIO drivers must be installed before the move and then NGT installed after the move, what might the issue be that discourages or prevents a SQL VM cross-hyper-visor move? The SQL version is 2016 Standard with no mirroring or Always on Availability. Just standalone SQL. We hav
Good Day, I am new to Nutanix, so this may be a very simple question to answer. How do you move VMs on hyper-v 2008 to AHV. The AHV version is 20170830.270. I thought of Nutanix Move, but move does seem to support hyper-v 2008. Any guidance would be welcome, thank you.
Hello, I want to migrate vm from vmware vsphere 6.7 to AHV. When i create source and target i find that connections to vcenter and ahv are ok. But, number discovered vm's on vsphere is 0 and "create a migration plan" button is greyed out. What is a problem? xtract 2.0.2. Regards, Mindaugas
I am preparing to migrate several Windows Server VMs from VMware vSphere into Nutanix. Most of the VMs use physical RDM virtual hard disks which are unfortunately unsupported by Xtract. As I understand it, this leaves me with two options for migration: Option 1: Convert RDM to VMDK Steps: Power off VMware VM Convert each RDM virtual HDD to VMDK Power on VMware VM Begin Nutanix Xtract process Schedule and perform Nutanix changeover How to Convert RDM to VMDK - The Ultimate Guide With this option, Nutanix Xtract still automates and handles most of the the migration into the new environment, possibly reducing the chance for issues. However, I would need to plan for two potential downtime windows. Option 2: Import Underlying VMDKs into Nutanix Steps: Power off VMware VM Create Images in Nutanix by uploading each underlying VMDK (from RDM storage) Create a Nutanix VM from each new image Power on Nutanix VM With this option, there is only
Hi everyone, I tried to setup lab for migrade UVM from ESXi 6.5 to AHV 5.10 using Xtract VM. After data seeding completed I select to cutover VM. However, migration was failed with error "Failed to create VM snapshot 'XTRACT-VMSnap-31'. Error: Snapshot hierarchy is too deep.." So, I've checked in snapshot manager and found many snapshot was create by Xtract tools. Does anyone face this issue before? How did you solve this problem? Thank you.
When migrating vm with xtract migration hangs in step 'Cutover'
hello when reaching the 4th step the wizard keep showing loading for both source and target network without progress.
