Hi Expert, I would like to seek your assistance with regards to the capacity planning for Nutanix. Our prism cluster is not license so we can’t use the built in capacity planning tool. Is there any other way where i can get the historical value of CPU, memory and disk per AHV cluster? I’m a little bit new in Nutnix so I’m still curving up my skills. TIA

Recently my customer is configuring snmp monitoring in their infrastructure to monitor their nutanix clusters. As their Administrators are trying to capture keywords from the snmp traps, they found that the snmp trap messages and the alerts messages found in the web console guide are different. Is there a document which can help to indicate what are the exact snmp trap messages /format for the different alerts sent?

Hello, Very new to the Nutanix CLI and I am doing a lot of PD testing to a DR Cluster and restoring them with the default prefix. I was wandering if someone could help me with a script to shitdown all VM’s with the name starting ‘Nutanix-Clone-”. I found this : for vm_name in `acli vm.list power_state=on | grep -v ^'VM name' | awk '{print $1}'`; do acli vm.shutdown $vm_name; done which is excellent but Im not sure how to further filter it by VM name? Any help appreciated. Note: Id also appreciate any help with a script that then deletes any VM and associated snapshot starting with ‘Nutanix-Clone-’ - doing 80 or so through the web console is hard work. hi team, i want to ask something, in my understanding nutanix can tolerates 1 node failure if I use rf 2 where the data will be replicated into 2 pieces, what happens if I have 10 nodes, how much nutanix can tolerance of node failure at the same time? it still tolerates only 1 node failure or any other mechanism? Hi Experts, Im new to Nutanix. I’d like to know why my guest OS build from my physical HP server can’t get an ip address? My physical server is connected to network however, on the created guest os, i can’t get an ipaddress from my dhcp. appreciate any help on this.

Hello guys,  I am a new Nutanix user and I wonder something about snapshots. I created two scenarios in  AHV. In the first scenario, I created a VM, created a PD with this VM and deleted the VM in Prism.I restored one of the snapshot and was able to restore the VM. Question : Will the PD be able to still work despite that the VM was restored with the same name (obviously some ID might have changed ?!).  In the second scenario, I created a VM but this time without PD. I created a snapshot using take snapshot within the VM options in Prism. Then I deleted the VM (with the option to delete snapshots not selected). I was able to see the snapshot using acli but the only way to recover this type of snap would be to specify the VM name which obviously does not exist in Prism anymore. Question : How can you recover from this situation ?  Sorry if the questions sounds stupid or if it has been answered before.

AOS 5.5 through 5.5.6 requires the use of log_collector. Logbay is not supported with EOL versions of AOS and PC. Hi Probably a very simply question and more of a sanity check. I have many Win 0S servers to perform OS upgrades on. Looking to do the following..   Ensure VM has ngt installed Power down VM Clone VM Power up clone, perform OS upgrade 2 weeks later delete original VM   I assume the powered down VM doesn't actively contribute to CPU usage but storage will be ring fenced. Therefore I will see storage decrease whilst I'm upgrading VMS and before I delete the original.   Any disadvantages to making the cloned VM my new production VM rather than the other way round?   Is it ok to delete the original VM which the clone is being based off?      

I’m running PC Scaleout (5.16.1.2) on ESXi and need to migrate all 3 nodes to a new datacenter cluster and datastore (same vcenter). Is there a recommended process for this or can I simply power down one of the 3 nodes, migrate it, power it up and wait for all cluster services to start, and then move on to the next one?

Hi Guys - Looking for some info with the powershell cmdlets I am writing a powershell script to list out all the ahv host name and ip address| cvm  name and ip address impi host name| ip address in a cluster What is the command to get the cvm name and their ip address in a cluster. Have you always wanted to get a peek into the network traffic flowing in and out of your Nutanix infrastructure? Anyone have any insights to share about using the filter option in the /alerts/list API method in Prism Central? Here is that method in the documentation: https://www.nutanix.dev/reference/prism_central/v3/api/alerts/postalertslist/ It looks like there isn’t much information available about the filter option. I have found a (very) little bit of information online about FIQL, but I have no idea what field names are available for alerts in Prism Central.
