Hello all, i have nutanix 3460 g7 4 nodes and also have disk and tape drives for backup and archival. to make it short is there any way that i can connect the disks and tape drives to the nodes so that i can make automatc backup and archival? 

When installing ce-2020.09.16.iso, I get an error about: hdparmStandardError Failed Command [hdparm -z /dev/sda] with reason [BLKRRPART Device or resource busy]My config is as follows:  - Intel PC (Optiplex 9020)  - USB disk with the .iso to boot from - A single Harddisk to do the installation onThis is reproducable on an Intel-NUC, exact the same issue..Now, I add an additional Harddisk (two HDs and one USB). Note that both HD’s are not carrying any nutanix data, format or whatsoever.  After the boot I get a different error:Phoenix: ISO is already mountedFATAL: Couldn’t find a hypervisor and an AOS installed, please package phoenix with a hypervisor and a AOS.  Please refer to Nutanix support portal for more information about this.My questions:Why do I get an hdparm error in the first place. When adding a disk, apparently to get around the hdparm error, I suppose that the ce-2020.09.16.iso supposed to provide me the hypervisor and all this.Not sure if the hdparm error is related. Furt

Typically, while deploying a new Windows VM on AHV, the VirtIO driver ISO needs to be mounted to allow the Windows Setup to discover the associated vDisk. Therefore, for each VM that needs to be created, 2 ISOs need to be mounted (the Windows installation ISO and VirtIO ISO).In order to simplify and expedite the deployment process, the VirIO drivers can be injected into the Windows installation ISO to create a single customized ISO.The prerequisites for this process are the following tools/files:PowerShell Windows ADK (Deployment and Imaging Tools Environment) Windows installation ISO Nutanix VirtIO driver package (It is recommended to use the latest version which can be downloaded from Support Portal) Administrative privileges on your Windows workstation.For detailed steps and screenshots regarding this process, please review KB 10290 in the Nutanix Support Portal.

Many users will create a Linux VM on their Nutanix AHV cluster using default installation options, then configure and install any appropriate applications or services within the VM, and then move onto other tasks. While this approach is certainly acceptable, many users are unaware that there are additional modifications that can be made to the Linux VM OS which can enhance the performance or the overall functionality of the VM.For example, there are several Linux kernel parameters which can be configured including “vm.overcommit_memory” and “vm.swappiness”. If leveraging iSCSI connectivity, there are several parameters that can be modified within the iscsid.conf file which can increase performance.Regarding disk usage, volume group striping can be employed using LVM to further increase throughput. Hi, I have questions.We are considering whether it can be operated with IPv6 in our IT infrastructure.So,I found that the prism element can be configured with an IPv6 address.　However, I didn't know if components such as Prism central support it. Can Nutanix configure IPv6 addresses?　Does Nutanix support IPv6?

SFP give us freedom of choice and granular control over the media being used in the network segment. Mix and match optic fibre and copper of various throughputs and lengths of the segment. Very convenient and flexible solution and easily replaceable SFP modules.  When troubleshooting issues or during maintenance, the hardware details of the SFP module plugged into a host NIC may need to be identified and verified. Typically the useful information is printed on the SFP label but who has the time for this. I have an old G3 block that need to be installed for a demo.And after lots of failed tries from Foundation installation, I ended up installing the node manually. But unluckily after creating phoenix iso file for AOS installation and mounting it to the node, an error occurred with message below:“Unable to match system information to layout module”Has someone seen this happened before?

Hello Nutanix CommunityI have a VM that is running CCTV operations. I record multiple video streams in a high resolution and frame rate. Old files get deleted when the space is used up. How can I make sure that the SSDs are not being used for the recording to avoid them to get too many write cycles too fast?Kind regards,Ibinema

Two Node Cluster creation Failed  It says Unable to reach SVM Ip’s but SVM Ip’s both ping fine.

Hi All,Just after some advice.  I’ve run the default ‘Four Corners Microbenchmark’ against 2 x identical All Flash clusters and I get very different results and not sure why.The average random read IOPS differ by around 60k, and the random write IOPS around 10k. I know running the test on both clusters will not provide an exact match, but these results appear very different.  Please note these are both 2-node clusters, both are identical in specification so not sure if this matters.I also get the same on 2 x identical 6-node Hybrid arrays, random read IOPS differ by 200k and random write IOPS by 40k!The same X-Ray appliance was used on all clusters, using the default settings in the test itself.Just after a possible explanation to these queries, if somebody could be so helpful.Thanks very much.

Ubuntu Cloud Images are pre-installed disk images that are customized by Ubuntu engineering to provide Ubuntu Certified Images, Openstack, LXD, and other features in public cloud environments.Due to the pre-built image and customization the OS requires specific virtual hardware such as a serial port that AHV does not include by default. AHV creating disk with 4k physical sector size. I have a requirement to create 512-bytes sector size. Finding no options parameter with vm.disk_create. Is there any other way to achieve this requriement. 

I created a Project in Prism Central and assigned a bunch of users to it, expecting them to be able to provision their own VMs with cloud-init configs customised to their liking.I found this awesome example code https://www.nutanix.dev/code_samples/create-linux-vm-customised-with-cloud-init/ which shows it can be done with API calls, however, as a user in the Project, there does not seem to be any options in the PC UI that allow me to specify a custom script when creating a VM.Are custom scripts deliberately hidden when using Projects? How are my users supposed to customise their VMs?

I’m looking for a way to expand storage a 6-node VMware cluster (ESX 6.7 U3), adding one or more Storage-only node could be an option. But, as I know, Storage-only nodes come with AHV, so I’d like to understand how I could add those nodes to the existing cluster.Trying to picture the idea, I'm assuming that SO nodes would work as new storage pool and cannot be expanded the existing one, am I right? I'm looking for documentation that give me some direction about the idea I have in mind.Any idea about this?

Nutanix AHV is a bare metal Type-1 hypervisor developed by Nutanix.
