Deployment Success

Hi. New to Nutanix for only a month, doing testing as a VMware replacement. One we thing currently do in vCenter is have very granular permissions. Only Linux engineers have access to Linux VM, and Windows engineers to windows. And Linux and Windows templates already have pre-defined category attached. I can build an authorization policy based on the “virtual machine admin” role and apply the scope to only AHV with category of linux and apply it to a linux user. However they cannot seem to build any new VMs, etc. Only manage what current VM has that category. I have tried to all other entity types as full access, but that doesn't seem to work, they can manage both sets of VMs. I am probably doing a terrible job explaining this, but if someone can tell me this can be done and give some hints, I can keep trying. I am certain I must be able to duplicate these permissions we already have.Thank you!

We are currently Migrating over our servers using move and now our patch management system is reporting issues with the current version of VirtIO I can see that move is still using 1.2.4.6 is there a way to update this.

We're currently running low on available storage in our Nutanix environment, and I’d like to ask for your advice on how we can free up space effectively. If there are recommended steps or best practices we should follow, I’d really appreciate your guidance 

As a Nutanix partner, we are currently planning to migrate part of our workloads to the Nutanix infrastructure.We have already completed internal sizing for our environments and would like Nutanix's assistance to validate and optimize the sizing on Nutanix.Could someone from the Nutanix team or community guide us on the recommended process and tools for accurate infrastructure sizing?Thank you :)

When physically configuring the DR center, we plan to set it up through migration. Would it suffice if only the Prism VIP has network connectivity? Or should communication also be established between each node?

Hi everyone!Today the password of the our PC admin’s account expired. I looked for the setting that allow modify it in PC GUI but i didn’t found it. Also, appears an advise password expiration in a secondary superadmin account. How can we change or disable or change the pwd expiration in these accounts?Many thanks in advance for you time! 😀

Hi all,I have some NX-3155G-G7s which were purchased from Nutanix some time ago and the business has stopped using the Nutanix HV OS and the support contract that went with it.I am looking to upgrade the BIOS and firmware etc. on the servers and am having a hard time finding helpful information on how to go about it exactly.Is it possible to find the correct instructions on how to go through this on the platform along with the relevant binary downloads please?Sadly, the business has no appetite to renew their support contract with Nutanix so I’m in a bit of a bind.It would be super helpful if anyone has any information on this.Thanks in anticipation 

We have a 4 node VMware-Nutanix cluster it has the following limitationsvCenter server is running on the same cluster and is not managing any other cluster Prism Central VM is deployed on the same cluster Nutanix Files is deployed on the cluster Prism Central  2022.6.0.6  AOS  6.5.3.7  File Manager  4.4.0  VCenter Server  7.0.3 u3n / 21958406  ESXi  7.0.3 u3l 21424296   I am planning to upgrade Nutanix Files to version 5.0 first.

I have a host I need to re-assign to other purposes. This host is part of an AOS cluster, running ESXi as a hypervisor. So basically, I need to remove the host from the ESXi cluster, then also gracefully remove it from the AOS cluster, so I can re-use the hardware elsewhere. Ive been reading this page:https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Web-Console-Guide-Prism-v7_3:wc-removing-node-pc-c.htmland it’s still unclear to me. It sems I have to first remove the host from the ESXi cluster (I can look up how to do that), but the instructions on how to then gracefully remove the node from the AOS cluster aren’t clear (to me). I’ve opened a ticket with Support, but while I wait for them, does anyone have any experience doing this? Or a page with step-by-step screenshots, perhaps? I’ve had to remove an ESXi host from a cluster once (long, long ago), but have never done so in an AOS cluster.Thanks! 

So we installed a Nutanix three-node cluster at our primary datacenter a couple years back. We had always been a VMWare/ESXi shop, and we needed a new cluster to replace the aging Cisco UCS we had running on ESXi.We debated when we installed it whether we should go with AHV, or if we should stick with ESXi on the new cluster. We ended up going with ESXi because of familiarity and trust. When I ran Perform Inventory it created "LCM root task has been created" and it got stuck at 0%. When I checked I saw that there was a NCC alert for idf db to db sync, which was resolved by following KB-5582 and KB-13381. But the task is still at 0%. I am trying to install ubuntu 24.04 and Almalinux 8.10 . in Both case console show “Press F2 to EFI Boot manager”. I tried to press F2 but not success. I am set UEFI boot. Help me Please.

I will upgrade the hardware with these material. I have doubt on the SSD part, will 1 X 800 GB SSD and 2 X 1.2 TB HDD, allows me to install Nutanix Foundation,. 

Hello community. I am new to Nutanix, we just got a 3-node POC to evaluate a move off of VMware. Regarding Nutanix tools, it appears unlike VMware which the clone from template will keep a functional tools, Nutanix does not work that way. You have to install Nutanix tools after the clone or during the deployment. Is there a good KB or blog on this? We are very well versed in Red Had. We use Ansible and Satellite for our Red Hat management. I found a gzip for the Tools you can install, but how do you get it registered to the cluster? Is there a json file or something that we need to include in our clone that has the cluster ip, etc. Any help to get me started on this is appreciated. I will need to tackle Windows later, but I am not versed in Windows very well.Thank you!

Hello Nutanix community,I'm working on a cluster refresh project and need some confirmation on a compatibility issue related to API changes in AOS 7.3. The Details  Source Cluster (Old): AOS 6.5.6.1 (PE-Only, older G6 hardware, EOL soon). Target Cluster (New): AOS 7.3.1 (New hardware, registered to Prism Central 7.3.1). Migration Method: Nutanix Move (recommended tool). Hello,I’ve been trying to begin my journey with APIs. After some reading and cross-checking with my feature requirements I decided to use APIv4 (as v3 doesn’t allow interacting with Templates, for example).For all I know (someone please correct me if I’m wrong) my current version of Prism Central [pc.7.3.0.6] as well as other components, like AHV [10.3.0.1] or AOS [7.3.0.5] should allow for apiv4 calls. Checking “about Nutanix” link in Prism Element gives out “Version 7.3.0.5 - STARTER License” but this starter license should allow for apiv4 - the internet says. Unfortunately all I can get at the moment is api v1,v2 and v3 and no there are no api v4 endpoints available at all.Can someone please tell me what’s going on? I’ve even started Prism upgrade from 7.3.0.5 to 7.3.0.6 to then go to 7.3.1 hoping that maybe the update will enable api v4, but the more I read about this the more I think this won’t resolve my issue.Thanks!

Does anyone have a checklist for implementing NKP in a customer's Nutanix environment?

I am a newbie to Nutanix and after successfully installing CE 2.1 on generic PCs and would like to go beyond CE and want to get into the commercial product just to get acquainted in my home lab. Bought an used NX-1175s-G7 with only the original 240GB NVME stick on the motherboard but no SSDs and HDDs and memory. Installed on hand 64GB memory and tried with some drives but the installation is failing always at this point. If someone has the exact model, I appreciate if you give me the above requested make and model part numbers. There are the last few lines of the installer.
