We have a 4 node VMware-Nutanix cluster it has the following limitations

  • vCenter server is running on the same cluster and is not managing any other cluster
  • Prism Central VM is deployed on the same cluster
  • Nutanix Files is deployed on the cluster

Prism Central

2022.6.0.6

AOS

6.5.3.7

File Manager

4.4.0

VCenter Server

7.0.3 u3n / 21958406

ESXi

7.0.3 u3l 21424296

I am planning to upgrade Nutanix Files to version 5.0 first.

Involve support when vcenter is on the same cluster. See my blogpost about this: https://next.nutanix.com/community-blog-154/convert-your-cluster-to-ahv-and-configure-leap-for-disaster-recovery-40970

For files I dont know if this is supported.

@JeroenTielen We are trying to get additional Nutanix block, and we will migrate the Nutanix Files and vCenter to the new cluster and try out your way.

Do you have experience in migrating Nutanix Files from Nutanix on VMware to AHV?

for us the conversion was not that smooth, so we had different clusters, we migrated VMs and just did a fresh installation of nutanix cluster.

a longer path but it was fine at the end.
