Hi, Can we create cluster using only two nodes ? eg NX 6235C Regards Budi
We're in the process of deploying our new VDI environment, using View 6 & UniDesk ontop of our Nutanix MetroAvailability Clusters. We will be balancing the number of production desktops running at both sites to spread the load around (we'll have some containers active in site A, some active in Site 😎, and want to ensure VM's do not get vmotioned to the 'standby' site. Although we do have significant bandwidth (10Gbe via dark fibre) & low latency (~1-2ms) between sites, we'd like to avoid the additional overheads where possible. Is there a way for us to easily create DRS rules within vSphere to ensure VM's on Active Containers at Site A should always run on those hosts & vice-versa for Site B? I vaguely remember coming across a PowerCLI script somewhere that did this (or something similar), but have been unable to find it again. Ofcourse it would be amazing if this could be natively handled by Nutanix, but for now i'd be happy with a script we can run on a schedule to update
Hello we have a brand new cluster (4 nodes) and did some failover testing over the weekend prior to placing the new gear into production. We have 2 cisco 4500x 10GB switches and have the nodes split between the two switches for redundancy. We simulated a switch failover by pulling the plug on one of them and experiened some very bad results. Some CVMs became unresponsive and we lost connectivity to most of our VMs. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? Or can anyone point me in the right direction for configurations to double check? Would appreciate any insight!
We are spinning up some new ESXi 6 clusters and have encountered some strange behavior on 1 of these clusters. The CVMs periodically contact the host machines to gather various stats. All logging seems to indicate this process is working properly, but every few hours to few days we will have a host lose connection to vCenter, and stop responding to all remote management requests (SSH, etc.) It appears that the VMware hostd service simply runs out of resources and stops responding. The only way to remedy that we have found so far is restarting the host completely. In some instances the host console was still responsive, but attempting to restart the management services was unsuccessful. We have ensured all passwords are congruent and have regenerated the certificates used to secure hypervisor to CVM communication. Has anyone seen anything similar?
Hi everyone Somebody have guides and best practice by implement NSX with Nutanix, I want use all Ports 1gb and 10Gb. But I don´t sure what traffic type I can exit for interfaces 1Gb, obiusly configure active-active all interface and load balance. (Type of traffic as FT, HA, Vmotion, Management, etc.,) If any have some diagram or guide's please can share please. Thanks
Hello, We have just recently stood up a brand new cluster and our prepping it for production use. Currnetly we are using acrpololis verion 4.5.2.3 + vsphere version 6.0. Curious to hear if anyone has any feedback in regards to any upgrades that we should consider prior to putting this into production. I know there are some CBT bugs w/ vsphere 6.0 and have also heard that there are some issues with certain combinations of acropolis + vsphere. If you've had stability with a particualr combination it'd be great to hear your feedback. Thanks in advance.
Hi Team , may i know can i install use hyper-v with GUI as hypervisor on Nutanix? Is there any technical limitation? Will it still under support with Nutanix if i install GUI on my hyper-v hypervisor? Kindly advice
Hi, Do we need to configure a quorum (File Share Witness) for an Hyper-V Cluster on Nutanix ? Regards, Alex
Hi, I am currently trying to expand our existing Nutanix cluster but need to downgrade the version of ESXi as the one installed from factory (Dell) is too new. Unfortunately I'm unable to use the latest Dell customized ISO (5.5 U3) because it's not in the Nutanix iso whitelist. Following documentation I'm supposed to download the latest version of the file from the Nutanix portal but I'm unable to find it. It would be nice if someone of you would be able to assist me with this. Thanks, Dieter
I have two nutanix clusters both are using Dswitches. We have a widows based Vcenter 5.5 I want to move the VCVA 6 What is the best method to move my nutanix clusters to the new vcenter?
Good morning. We are trying to size a new Cluster of Nutanix, we don't have a lot of money. We have 2 datacenters connected through 1 GB ethernet. We will have 25 virtual servers on the system. How manu Nutanix servers we need to buy to get HA and Disaster Recovery in the other Datacenter? It's possible to have 2 nodes in Datacenter A & 2 nodes in Datacenter B? Thanks a lot for your help
Using AOS 4.6 on Hyper-V. I will setup Hyper-V host to join Domain. When read manual, I think setup_hyperv.py change Hyper-V hostname. Is it correct? I already name Hyper-V host. How to run setup_hyperv.py? Thanks
Hi All , How can I verify the total RAM use on specific VM using Nutanix AHV?
Hi All, I wonder is it possible to change the internal communication IP (192.168.5.x) to different network segment? The reason being i have my existing server infra, all in 192.168.5.x segment. Anyone have encounter similar case , can share some thoughts on this? Thanks, Jackie
The customer I'm supporting has an internal Information Security/Information Assurance requirement that whereever possible, centralized authentication for privileged use/access should be deployed. For our Prism and Hypervisor environments, this is accomplished with Active Directory/LDAPS integration with the Enterprise Microsoft domain. However, with not being as versed with the Nutanix CVMs and not wanting to 'break something' trying to incorporate them, we have elected for individual local user accounts on each CVM. In our environment today, that's not a huge undertaking, but it's certainly not convenient, and it's definitely not in-line with the customer's requirement for a single centralized privileged user administration. I've scanned the Nutanix Bible and the Nutanix Support documentation, but nothing has jumped out at me yet. Is anyone else aware of a documented (and supported) method in order to integrate the CVMs with Microsoft Active Directory?
Hi, The Additional Stats introduced in 4.5 for the Virtual Disks, such as Working Set, Random IO and the like, are they available for Hyper-V? I've seen three of our clusters, all running 4.6.1 where we have 0 Additional Stats which makes me wonder if they are actually working. Any input on this? Kind Regards
Does nutanix have a place that states what the release dates for specific json released? I am looking to use the one-touch upgrade to go to ESXi 6.0.0 Update 2, but i only see 6.0.0 update 1b out there.
Hi, My SCVMM server and my Nutanix CVMs/VIP are in differents VLANs separated by a firewall. I need to know the ports required between SCVMM and CVMs/VIP (like the TCP5989 for CIM-XML) and in the other way from CVM to SCVMM for the setup_hyperv.py setup_scvmm to run correctly. I can't find it in the documentation. Regards, Alex
Hi, We are planning a new install where: we only have 1G BaseT (RJ45) ports on switches for now we are arranging 10G fiber ports which may take some time we want no changes later on in terms of configuration as we see no downtime I understand we can add 2 x 10G and 2 x 1G ports in single Team (link speed will be 1G) So once we have 10G fiber ports available we will simply disconnect 1G portsPlease advise if above workable solution without any downtime or re-configuration requirement? Thanks, Noman
Hi Guys, I have running foundation to image my Nutanix Box, but one node stuck at 94% the last entry i get from the log looks like the following: 20160413 152058: INFO: Success running ls /tmp/svm_boot_succeeded 20160413 152058: Hyper-V first boot successful. 20160413 152058:INFO: Restarting host... The node is about 2 hours in this state - nothing changed till now. The other two nodes are imaged well without any problems. What are my possibilities? Reimage the whole cluster? Regards, Freddie
We are using Apache Cloudstack 4.4.0 with Xenserver to control client VPC VM's for DRAAS and IAAS solutions. Is it possible we can implement Nutanix to work with this infrastructure?
Hi Team, I would like to know if i turn off the HA on my SCVMM Virtual Machines and when the host down , will all the virtual machines in the host HA to the next available host? NDFS : 4 node cluster. NOS : 4.5 Hypervisor : Hyper-v The question arise because i am unable to turn on HA on the microsoft level in SCVMM due to host need to be patch to latest update. I am enquiries here that does Nutanix cluster itself provide HA to hyper-v ndfs cluster?

We are getting ready to deploy our first set of clusters and in the preinstall brief we hit a little snag regarding power. The specs state that with dual power supplies you need 208 volts per power supply. I have read in other post that the 3000 series should be OK with 120V if you only have 3 nodes. Can anyone confirm this? My goal is to have redundance if power was lost to a single power supply. If we get the 4th node we will go with 208V, but currently I just don't have that kind of power or mainly a 208/240 UPS.
