Hi, The Additional Stats introduced in 4.5 for the Virtual Disks, such as Working Set, Random IO and the like, are they available for Hyper-V? I've seen three of our clusters, all running 4.6.1 where we have 0 Additional Stats which makes me wonder if they are actually working. Any input on this? Kind Regards
Does nutanix have a place that states what the release dates for specific json released? I am looking to use the one-touch upgrade to go to ESXi 6.0.0 Update 2, but i only see 6.0.0 update 1b out there.
Hi, My SCVMM server and my Nutanix CVMs/VIP are in differents VLANs separated by a firewall. I need to know the ports required between SCVMM and CVMs/VIP (like the TCP5989 for CIM-XML) and in the other way from CVM to SCVMM for the setup_hyperv.py setup_scvmm to run correctly. I can't find it in the documentation. Regards, Alex
Hi, We are planning a new install where: we only have 1G BaseT (RJ45) ports on switches for now we are arranging 10G fiber ports which may take some time we want no changes later on in terms of configuration as we see no downtime I understand we can add 2 x 10G and 2 x 1G ports in single Team (link speed will be 1G) So once we have 10G fiber ports available we will simply disconnect 1G portsPlease advise if above workable solution without any downtime or re-configuration requirement? Thanks, Noman
Hi Guys, I have running foundation to image my Nutanix Box, but one node stuck at 94% the last entry i get from the log looks like the following: 20160413 152058: INFO: Success running ls /tmp/svm_boot_succeeded 20160413 152058: Hyper-V first boot successful. 20160413 152058:INFO: Restarting host... The node is about 2 hours in this state - nothing changed till now. The other two nodes are imaged well without any problems. What are my possibilities? Reimage the whole cluster? Regards, Freddie
We are using Apache Cloudstack 4.4.0 with Xenserver to control client VPC VM's for DRAAS and IAAS solutions. Is it possible we can implement Nutanix to work with this infrastructure?
Hi Team, I would like to know if i turn off the HA on my SCVMM Virtual Machines and when the host down , will all the virtual machines in the host HA to the next available host? NDFS : 4 node cluster. NOS : 4.5 Hypervisor : Hyper-v The question arise because i am unable to turn on HA on the microsoft level in SCVMM due to host need to be patch to latest update. I am enquiries here that does Nutanix cluster itself provide HA to hyper-v ndfs cluster?

We are getting ready to deploy our first set of clusters and in the preinstall brief we hit a little snag regarding power. The specs state that with dual power supplies you need 208 volts per power supply. I have read in other post that the 3000 series should be OK with 120V if you only have 3 nodes. Can anyone confirm this? My goal is to have redundance if power was lost to a single power supply. If we get the 4th node we will go with 208V, but currently I just don't have that kind of power or mainly a 208/240 UPS.

Customer has two small VMware environments, each with only 2 Dell servers. First environment is running roughly 15-17 VMs for things like Active Directly, SQL Server and apps under VMware Essentials License which provides upto 3x dual socket servers. Second environment is running virtual approximately 30 virtual desktops under VMware View licenses for 30 seats. This license doesn't restrict how many sockets, just 30 active desktops. Since this is such a small environment, even with a conservative sizing, it can easily fit on a single cluster. The main issue is licensing. Now for the question - Is it possible to mix licenses on a Nutanix cluster with some nodes licensed VMware Essentials and some nodes licensed under VMware View?
I do not see an explaination as to why a single container is the best practice. Does having multiple containers cause more overhead(other than the memory use)? It seems like an obvious choice would be to put your OS VM's that are virtually identical in a deduped container to maximize space savings. Then put any user data vDisks in a compressed container. Just looking for some input on why this is not a good idea.
Hi folks ! My client asked me a quite though question today : since we are bounded to CISCO Nexus for physical switches, we digged on a low latency nexus with SFP+ connection. It seems that 3064-X is a good choice but as far as I know, Cisco SFP+ compatibility with 3rd party is azardeous. 2 questions : Are there some kind of hardware restriction w/ Nutanix Supermicro stuff appart from SFP+ cable (MOLEX 074752 series as far as I know) ? Is there a compatibility matrix of this granularity level somewhere ? best regards,
What is the recommended CPU performance setting for AHV? Im curious if AHV has the ability to interract with the Intel throttling or if it's better to just have it run full speed all the time. The CPU power options are: Performance Per Watt DAPC Performance Per Watt OS Performance Acropolis Hypervisor 201602173 Dell xc730xd nodes with 2 X Xeon E5-2630 v3 @ 2.40GHz The Dell Active Power Control (DAPC) mode allows the BIOS to manage the processor power states in order to achieve Performance/Watt maximized at all utilization levels and workload types while still meeting performance requirements. In the OS (Demand Based Power Management (DBPM) mode, the operating system (OS) controls the processor’s power management. In the Maximum Performance mode, the processor runs at the highest frequency all the time. Performance Per Watt Optimized (DAPC) This mode allows the BIOS to manage the processor power states in order to achieve Performance/Watt maximized at all utilization le
I've searched and cannot find documentation on maximum vCPUs, RAM and disk can be allowcated to a VM on Acropolis. Also looking to see if there is a limitation to how many VMs can run on one host. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Hi , has anyone encounter any issue regarding firefox running on foundation 3.1 or 3.1.0.1 ? I've tried deployed or even upgrade my foundation from the older version to 3.1 and it seems that the same issue still happen on firefox. Regards, Edwin.
Hi , I would like to know how can I access the new created VM (windows 2008R2) running on AHV platform? is there aVM console in the prism to view the OS and enable the remote access? Is nutanix require any tool to be installed on VM OS like vmwaretools to in vmware platform ? Regards,
Hi guys, trying to image 3 nodes with hyper-v 2012 R2 using foundation but 1st and 3rd node fails at 4% and 2nd node completes with 100% success. I am losing my patience :( Need some help. Thanks
Hello Guys Any question? I have cluster Nutanix with VMWare ESXi 6.0 in a LAB, but I need the version 5.5. Is possible run a downgrade of ESXi version or is necessary reinstall Phoenix and VMware Thanks for your comment Regards Sebastian
I have a cluster in China running 4.5.x Because I upgraded my prism central to 4.6.x and didn't realize the older 4.5 was not supported I have to upgrade the cluster too. the unit in Mexico was able to download and install from the GUI. The download in China seem to get stuck, so I clicked the cancel download button. now I'm trying to upload the latest 4.5 code from a machine in china through the GUI. But it just errors out. The alerts say the download is still running. Not sure how to move forward from this point. Thanks,jb
Hello, is it posible to create a streched Cluster with Hyper-V? Is there a site awareness, so one side of the Cluster can go down? Or a workaround? Ideas? Best Wishes Johannes
Hello Guys, I need your help because I run into a strange issue with my Nutanix cluster (NOS 4.6). Nutanix generates a warning as below: "Data Protection > Protection Domain > Container Mount > Containers are not mounted on all nodes". We've got only one container and it's properly mounted on all ESXi 6.0 hosts. NCC (ncc health_checks data_protection_checks protection_domain_checks container_mount_check) returns: Detailed information for container_mount_check:Node 172.30.10.13:FAIL:Container ntnx-ds not mounted in : 172.30.10.111 172.30.10.112Node 172.30.10.12:FAIL:Container ntnx-ds not mounted in : 172.30.10.111 172.30.10.113Node 172.30.10.11:FAIL:Container ntnx-ds not mounted in : 172.30.10.112 172.30.10.113Refer to KB 1888 for details on container_mount_check I've checked all tips from KB article 1888 but everything seems to be OK. Furthermore the cluster has been restarted, warning is still presented. Except the warning the cluster works just fine. When I've deleted
Hi, I have ploblem with foundation installation(3.0.4). In hypervision image page i choose esxi iso but when process completed, the result display AHV instead of exsi. What is the problem and how to solve it ? :D
Hi All, According to my material on hand that Nutanix will keep a copy in local storage for local data required. So if there are some storage intensive VMs running in one node and the local storage in that node is not enough for data of all local VM, some data should still need to be retrieved in remote node? would like to know the exact behavior. And one more question for DR. If I use vsphere, I still need to buy SRM license or SRM is optional (e.g. for some dedicated features?). For Hyper-V, since the DR feature of Hyper-V is not as rich as VM, can we still use the "Protect Domain" feature in Nutanix for DR in Hyper-V? Thanks a lot in advance! Best Regards, Teru Lei
Nice write up from on the Nutanix sizer Check out his blog post here Lots of great screenshots and good explanation. In case you didn't know, The sizer lets you create scenarios that can be tailored to your requirement.
