AHV - Hypervisor installation is failing with the following error and terminating! (please see enclosed)

Please let me know what I am missing, I have tried installing inside vmWare ESXI 8.0 or bare metal Dell powerEdge 110 II server, both attempts are failing, multiple tried, I am using USB bootable drive, and following installer:https://download.nutanix.com/ce/2023.03.01/phoenix-ce2.0-fraser-6.5.2-stable-fnd-5.3.4-x86_64.iso Many Thanks!

Moving PC from ESX to AHV

I posted last year about moving PC from a non-nutanix cluster running ESX to a nutanix cluster running ESX but we didn’t do the work at the time.  Now the goalposts have moved a little, or will be and I think things will be a little bit more complicated!So to recap;currently PC (pc.2022.6.0.9) runs on a non-nutanix cluster ESX 7.xwe have 2 nutanix clusters running ESX 7.xwe will be purchasing a new cluster which we intend to run AHV onwe will then migrate all the VM’s from the two nutanix esx clusters to the new AHV clusterwe will possibly also be migrating our native Azure VM’s to Nutanix NC2 in Azure.  We want to move our current PC to the new AHV cluster once its purchased. So the question is how? I was thinking of using MOVE. AIso note we AREN'T running microservices on our PC

Creating a VM with customization(answer file) with the Powershell cmdlets v2.0

Nutanix data not being deleted even if VM is deleted.

Hi All,I am new to Nutanix Environment. I have been tasked to troubleshoot a customer Nutanix environment. In the Nutanix cluster storage utilization is at a critical stage, and Customer VMs are behaving strangely.  VMs are gradually becoming unresponsive and we are greeted with 2048 screen stating VM boot disk are not found although the cluster storage shows 2 TiB available (I know its extremely low, things might not work). The most important part is we have already deleted almost around 15TiB of storage but we are not seeing an increment in the available storage resource. (its stuck at 2TiB). The customer environment is out of support subscription, and they are not able to renew due to their internal financial issue. Cluster version: 5.10.5 LTS Pro LicenseStorage: 2TiB free of 55TiBNumber of Nodes:  4RF=2Data Resiliency Status: Critical I will be very grateful for any help and suggestions. Thank You

Ansible issue - Upgraded to pc2004.1 and ntnx_categories_info returns 401

Hi,My team have just upgraded our lab to pc2004.1 and my Ansible role to retrieve category information has stopped working…  It now returns:ok: [localhost] => result: changed: false error: 'HTTP Error 401: UNAUTHORIZED' failed: true msg: 'Failed fetching URL: https://gbh-pcs-l01.fqdn:9440/api/nutanix/v3/categories/list' response: null status_code: 401the play used is as simple as it gets:--- - name: test getting all categories ntnx_categories_info: nutanix_host: "{{ prism_url }}" nutanix_username: "{{ prism_user }}" nutanix_password: "{{ prism_password }}" validate_certs: false register: result ignore_errors: true - debug: var: resultit worked on our old version, and my equivalent ‘get_subnet_info’ and ‘get_vm_info’  still work fine, so I’m leaning towards a change in permissions for Categories in pc2004.1?The team has tried randomly applying permissions to the account used without luck.  Any thoughts gratefully received!

Many disks hardware

Hi,Nutanix friends,I’m considering to choice many disks hardware using NCI Edge license.In actually I need 800TB effective capacity.However in my recognation,using NCI Edge licence is not over 5nodes each cluster.Which hardware shoud I choice?Perhaps,NX-8055-G9 is the most disks installed,180TB hdd per node.

How to kickstart file in AHV nutanix

Hello Colleagues,. I am trying to create golden image with customized parationing in alma linux with packer. how can i acheive that can somebody suggest please. I have  tried to customized the iso file during installation , it worked but when i extracting this as a ova or qcow2 image it is not working. Regards,Jatinder kumar

probleme cluster start

hello i hope everyone doing well am trying to install Nutanix community on VMware i follow the same steps in documentation of my friend Jeroen Tielen but when i try to run cluster with commande cluster start command enter in loop but the services remain in down what i can do to resolve this problems          this this state of cluster all service are down here when i try to start cluster i get this message cluster down cluster start command enter in loop but the services remain in down

Active Directory field mapping in Prism Central

Hi all,I’ve enabled AD authentication on Prism element and Prism Central. All is working, but I saw a little artefact.When I connect with my AD user, the name written in the right top of the screen is the concatenation of two AD fields : Display Name and Last Name. So, It shows my first name and twice my last name (display name field is already the conactenation of first name and last names fields).Is this the same thing for you ? I didn’t see any settings option for AD fields mapping (as for OpenLDAP)thanks !

How do I inject Virtio drivers that are compatible with Oracle Linux and AHV?

Hey everyone, I have an ova which is designed for VMWare. The OVA is 2.7 GB in size and is Oracle Linux 9.3.When trying to deploy the OVA in Nutanix PC, it fails and doesn’t work. I’ve been researching and it seems that the vmdks inside the OVA need to be injected with the Virtio drivers that are compatible with AHV.  I want to mention that I have used Nutanix Move to migrate a Virtual Machine from VMWare to Nutanix. The problem is that I need to redistribute these images and Nutanix Move creates images that are 120GB combined (which is the disk sizes but not the vmdk sizes, obviously).  Any help will be much appreciated.

Import larhe VMDK into AHV

Hello,on a new Project we need to import a large VMDK - around 14T of data. Is there a way to import the vmdk directly without usage of the image service.My expaction was to add the Media which contianed the VMDK to a seperate Host and import using a CLI - is this possible? Best regards

Nutanix CE Add Storage only node

Is this a possible option? I currently have a single node (MS-01) running nutanix CE and would like to add storage to expand Files.  Is it possible to bring in additional hardware in nutanix CE for a storage only node?

Interfaces do not come up with host

Does anyone know why a host would fail to bring up network interfaces after a host reboot?  I have to go in and manually bring them up using IFconfig then everything is fine.

Installation

Hello,I am desperate, I have 2 disks and the USB stick with the ISo on my server.If I now want to install Nutranix, I get to the disk selection, but even if I assign the disks to the respective letters, only Phoenix ISO is still mounted at the endThen the install aborts and I can go back to the disk selection.If I enter H,C, or D, the system says either I need SSD's, or I must have 2 disks, which I have.Do I need ESXI on the server, not really if I use the AHV version?

Nutanix AHV VM disk accidentially deleted ...

Ok, let’s get straight into the topic. On one of our VMs, we had 3 local disks and 5 NICs and we intended to remove 4 of the 5 NICs, which are no longer necessary. Instead of deleting the NIC in the last row, a disk in the last row has been deleted and no, a snapshot of the VM has unfortunately not been created. Is there any possibility to recover the deleted VM disk from this specific VM with AHV/CVM command line? Thanks in advance for any help! Regards,Didi7

Can I create affinity rules for VMs in an AHV cluster?

I’m fairly new to AHV and Prism.  We’ve been running Nutanix for a few years but our hosts are running ESXi.  We’re setting up a new cluster with AHV and we’re planning to migrate everything there.  One issue we have is that some hosts have the NVIDIA GPU card in them.  In Vmware, I have affinity rules so that the VMs that use the GPU will only run on the hosts that have the GPU card.  Can I do the same thing with AHV?  Going through KB articles, I get mixed messages. One KB article flat out says that it’s not supported.

Nutanix Sizer - HPE hardware

Hiya - I’m just wondering how do I go about (who do I ask :)) getting HPE hardware in the Nutanix sizer ? By default the sizer only has NX hardware and it’s my understanding that adding additional nodes (from the likes of HPE/Dell) can be enabled  Thank you muchly :)

Amending the subnet of multiple VMs using Powershell or API

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to amend the subnet associated to the NIC of multiple VMs via Powershell or API. Reading the documentation on PowerShell it appears this is maybe not possible without deleting the NIC and adding it. When attempting this via the API I am getting incorret uuid errors even though they are copied straight from the NIC.Many thanks,R
