Hello All,

I will like and understanding of the Nutanix system accounts Admin/Nutanix etc.

We have a cluster of 3 nodes.

I’m able to login via Gui with admin account on PC. (not a problem)

I’m able to login via ssh to each CVM node with admin account. (not a problem)

If i try to login to same ip via GUI with the admin account i get this error (Unable to authenticate. Please contact the Nutanix administrator.)

Is the CVM admin account different from our Prism Element admin account?

(we can’t login to PE with our admin account)

If so which account can i use to change the password for PE admin account?

No, PE admin account is the same account used to ssh into cvm. If there is something wrong try changing the admin password via ssh: passwd admin

Update.

After calling support.

We tried changing password and that didn’t work.

Logs pointed us to a device in our network continuously trying to login to Nutanix with our admin account. We know which device this is and our team can’t think of where in this system has the admin account being used. Of course we would use a service account instead and not the admin account which is a local Nutanix account. We don’t have an admin account in our AD so it will be useless to us due that it would not authenticate. Anyways, we shut down the server and then we saw that the authentication error with admin account stopped. We reset the password again. Unlocked the admin account and we were able to login. Today we powered on the server again and it continued to authenticate unsuccessfully but at least our admin account is not locking.  That’s the update i have.
