Hi,Thoughts from the community please on this one.We have two clusters, in two different data centers with NearSync to replicate VMs. So my problem is when I do a unplanned fail-over I get a VM with a new GUID, all good, until my backup software (Veeam) sees this as a new VM and creates a fresh full backup. How do I deal with this in a better way? A full backup of all my VMs is going to need a lot of space and time!

I has install new Nutanix CE cluster, but in proceeds of installation i has lost connection.Whan cluster was installed i has check it and see these situation:One of node is not resolved, and show only IP.I has check CVMs VM in Prism Element and see this:Only 2 CVMs of 3.What i run cluster status from CVM 192.168.1.112, i see that all services is UP When i check network configuration i see this situation:And in switch configuration:All DNS records is fine. How can i register and add CVM into current cluster or what i can do to fix it?Please help with this situation.
Good afternoon. After running the NCC check, I received an error message:However, there are no errors on the disks themselves that formed the MD2 partition. There are also no hardware issues, I checked both in Nutanix and in the XCC.Is it possible to fix this problem using standard Linux tools? Here's a plan, might it work:Unmount the Partition: >umount /homeRun Filesystem Check (fsck): >fsck.ext4 -v -f /dev/md2Reboot and Remount: >mount /home
Since now 5 years i’m seeing requests for a drag n drop and/or copy paste function to be enable, all software around the are able to do it , could you please provide any valuable reason to not add this functionality to the console? I hope that you will not lose customers for a copy/paste function in the future.
Hi all, I am sometimes really wondering what programmers think when they implement features which work fundamentally different than on other similar software and are seemingly half baked. This time around templates. I would really like to know the number of templates rendered unusable because someone accidentally deleted the protection point used as base for the template, because of lack of better knowledge (ah we already deleted this VM and gone) or any visible guard rails. The expectation would be templates = (multiple) immutable images + settings. Hi all, Is creating a new image from for ex. a VMDK uploaded to an ADFS container via allow/whitelist still a thing as described in KB-2622? Uploading the image works without issues, but creating an AHV image via the AHV Image Service from the disk already located on the very same Prism Element cluster apparently not.All reference I found online was that source_url=nfs://127.0.0.1/<container>/foo.vmdk isn’t supposed to work anymore for security reasons (see KB-14160). In the KB it says to use a CVM IP instead. I however get the very same message on any of the CVM IPs as well:foo-disk-import: InvalidArgument: Address <Any CVM IP> is not supported as Remote HostAdding CVMs or AHVs IPs to the allowlist doesn’t make any difference - it just won’t work.Using acli image.create or Prism Element UI also doesn’t make a difference. Hello guys,I found this topic https://next.nutanix.com/ahv-virtualization-27/ssh-public-key-is-removed-from-esxi-18675 from @mstauder and have exactly the same issue.Since... like ever… 2022..I opened a FEAT-13832 request, but I don’t know how to check it.Nutanix need only to add a second and unmanaged authorized_keys file…Or add ssh-key define in the prism element to the ESXi … Don’t you all need this guys?
HiI now plan to have NCX so need to which course help me to facilitate the large part of the exam
Hi Colleagues,I am trying to collect operating system information for all virtual machines through the Nutanix Prism Central v3 API.I’m using the following API endpoints: POST /api/nutanix/v3/vms/list to retrieve VM UUIDs GET /api/nutanix/v3/vms/{uuid} to check detailed metadata per VM However, in all cases, the OS information fields (e.g. guest_tools.guest_os_version, guest_info.operating_system, runtime_os, etc.) are returning null or “Unknown”, even for VMs that have Nutanix Guest Tools (NGT) installed and are visible in the Prism UI with proper OS details.Steps I’ve taken: Verified that NGT is installed and running on the VMs. Queried both /vms/list and /vms/{uuid} API endpoints. Tried multiple fields including: .status.resources.guest_tools.guest_os_version .status.resources.guest_info.operating_system .status.resources.agented_info.guest_os_name .spec.resources.guest_os_id All these fields return null via API, but Prism UI shows correct OS information.
Hi NEXT Community,We're excited to announce Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) on OVHcloud!A Sovereign European Cloud OptionFor many of our customers, especially those in Europe, data sovereignty is a top priority. With this new offering, you can run your workloads in OVHcloud's European-owned and operated datacenters. This provides a clear path to ensuring your data and operations can remain under European jurisdiction, helping you address compliance requirements and avoid exposure to extraterritorial laws.Key Use Cases UnlockedBy extending your Nutanix environment to OVHcloud, you can treat the cloud as a seamless extension of your on-premises datacenters. This makes several key operations much simpler:Application Migration: Lift and shift applications and workloads to the cloud without the time, cost, and complexity of re-architecting or refactoring them. Disaster Recovery (DR): Easily build out a DR site in the cloud, using a predictable, cost-effective economic model that helps you avoi
I am following this guide: https://www.jeroentielen.nl/installing-nutanix-community-edition-ce-on-vmware-esxi-vsphere/ I am getting this error message: Operation failed: NoHostResources: No host is schedulable: 14There is no insight in the entire system to say why the host is not schedulable.I have allocated 100GB Memory, 16 cpu cores and 2.5TB of storage To CE 2.1. All health checks are green.VM i’m trying to run is Linux based, 2GB memory 128GB storage without any networking.I’ve started and stopped the cluster. Entered and Exited Maintenance Mode. The system is a Dell R720 with E5 2667 V2 processors running ESXI 7.0U3o I am at a loss for why this system won’t run a basic linux VM. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Hi Everyone, I have a use case within the business where a team wants to be able to leverage nested virtualization.I’m currently running some test within our test environment but wanted to understand if there are implications from nested virtualization such as:Does having VMs within cpu_passthru=true have any performance impact on that node / cluster Live migration considerations Replication considerations
Hello everyone,I am new to Nutanix and I have an on-premises cluster with multiple VLANs configured in Prism Central. My VMs are currently placed inside these VLANs.I am planning to migrate everything to a new NC2 cluster on Azure, but I need to keep the same VM IP addresses.I have a few questions regarding this scenario: Is it possible to maintain the same VM IPs when migrating to NC2 on Azure? Are there any prerequisites on the on-premises Nutanix cluster to make this possible? What if the on-prem VLAN is also used by other physical servers outside of Nutanix? How would these physical servers communicate with VMs in NC2 on Azure? How can native Azure components or other third-party networks connected to my Azure environment reach the servers in this stretched network? For example, if I have some VMs on-prem, some on NC2, and some on other physical on-prem servers. Is this configuration intended as a temporary transition, or can it be permanent? Regarding traffic from a physi
We attempted the following approaches to enable nested virtualization, but it still did not work.Approach 1:a. Created the VM and enabled cpu_passthrough=true before powering it on.Observation: We were able to log in to Windows.b. Enabled the Hyper-V feature inside the VM and restarted.Observation: The system failed to log in and entered Recovery mode.Approach 2:a. Created the VM and enabled hardware_virtualization=true before powering it on.Observation: We were able to log in to Windows.b. Enabled the Hyper-V feature inside the VM and restarted.Observation: We could log in, but the nested virtualization feature was disabled. Please advise on how to enable nested virtualization in CE 2.1
We try to activate our nvidia card in an ce 2.1, but we can not see the AHV option in the Download page.We I try to acces it directly with https://portal.nutanix.com/page/downloads?product=ahv there is always a popup asking for “Activation required”.As I only run the community edition I do not have any of the requested information (Serial Number or Service Tag or Software Registration ID).Is there still a way to get the drivers.
We have a customer running the following Nutanix cluster setup:1 cluster with 4 nodes – Dell XC650 model, each node with 512GB RAM2 clusters with 4 nodes each – Dell XC640 model, each node with 768GB RAMThe customer plans to deploy VMs with 64GB and 128GB memory configurations.Could you please confirm:Is this a supported configuration for VM deployment on the mentioned clusters? Will deploying VMs of this size cause any performance impact on other workloads in the cluster? What are the best practices or guidelines to follow in this scenario to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization?
Hello,I need to install NX-3060-G6 with the Foundation VM version 5.9, but I always get an error message. For your information, this G6 already has a system installed (Sangfor HCI). How can I perform a hardware reset of the Nutanix nodes in order to reinstall them?
Hello Nutanix Community,I am currently working with Nutanix Prism Central version pc.2024.2.0.8 and need to programmatically retrieve VM performance metrics (such as cpu_usage,disk, memory) via the Nutanix REST API.
Hello, what is SELinux protection policy (hawk armor) in Nutanix and where I can find ANY info about it? This seems to be new policy in AOS 7.3 and completely ommited from release notes.http://portal.nutanix.com/kb/17892
Hello All,I need some help on how to deploy Nutanix AHV, AOS and Prism element in newly deployed DELL servers. Also, need to check which version i should go with by following N-1 principal or something else here.If someone can help on below and have queries further as wellCVM FoundationFoundation for WindowsStandalone Foundation VM Please suggest.
I am using the New-NTNXVirtualMachine PowerShell cmdlet to create a VM on an AHV cluster. Up until now, I haven’t included the “-BootConfig” option and it has defaulted to “BIOS”. Now I need to specify UEFI and Secure Boot for Boot Configuration. AI gave me examples and information but it must be out-dated because the properties were not named correctly. Or maybe my cmdlets are out-dated. It gave me this:$bootConfig = New-NutanixObject -Name BootConfig$bootConfig.uefi_boot = $true$bootConfig.secure_boot = $true$bootConfig.boot_device_order = @("kCdrom", "kDisk", "kNetwork")New-NTNXVirtualMachine -Name "MyUEFIVM" -MemoryMB 4096 -NumVCPUs 2 -BootConfig $bootConfig -Cluster "MyCluster"When I tried it, I found there were actually no underscores in the name. But I did not find any reference to a property for “secureboot”.$bootconfig | get-member TypeName: Nutanix.Prism.DTO.Acropolis.BootConfigDTOName MemberType Definition---- ---------- ----------Equals
I’m setting up my DR site, will be using asynchronous/near-sync replication with Protection Policies in Prism Central (NOT Protection Domain) I don’t want to completely drown my WAN link in replication traffic during the initial VM seeding. Is there any way of throttling or controlling the replication traffic?

I am conducting a qualification of an application on AHV which requires certain SMBIOS values are set for the host VM to properly identify the platform and ensure operation. Specifically, values of smbios type 2 (baseboard) for “Manufacturer” and “Product Name” need to be set. This is normally populated by default in VMware. In Proxmox (another QEMU KVM based hypervisor) this can be easily set using the qm tool and passing the args string to update the values as needed. qm set <VmID> --args "-smbios type=2,manufacturer=<vendor>",product=<model>"Exhaustive searching leads me to acli vm.update “extra_flags” option but I don’t see any options to add SMBIOS information. Looking for guidance from the community while also working with Nutanix Support. Thanks!
