Can know impact of SSD failure if each node has 2 SSDs in slot0 & slot1: 1. Slot0 SSD failure 2. Slot1 SSD failure 3. Both SSDs failure (Know this will be CVM failure)

Hi all! Is anyone out there running Cloudera in a Nutanix environment? Not just Hadoop, but specifically the Enterprise Cloudera Hadoop implementation. We're in the process of migrating our Production Cloudera cluster to Nutanix VMs and having a host of issues related to disk latency. I'm aware of the Nutanix Hadoop reference documents, but our configuration doesn't quite fit because it started on physical devices, and the existing production configuration would be challenging to change at this point. We're not running YARN yet, still on MapReduce V1, for example, though we're in the process of moving that direction in our dev environment. We have a storage container devoted to our HDFS directories, with virtual disks carved out of it in VMWare, but we're seeing vdisk latencies *averaging* 300ms with frequent spikes to several seconds. Hi,we are running 20 Nutanix Nodes with AOS 5.0.1 and ESXi 6.0 as hypervisor. Normally we using passwordless login to the ESXi host using SSH Keys. So we copy our public key as usual to /etc/ssh/keys-%u/authorized_keys, but after a reboot of the ESXi Host our keys are removed.So I modified the sshd_config on the ESXi host to use multiple authorized_keys- AuthorizedKeysFile /etc/ssh/keys-%u/authorized_keys+ AuthorizedKeysFile /etc/ssh/keys-%u/authorized_keys /etc/ssh/keys-%u/authorized_keys2But even with this config, the authorized_keys2 is also deleted.Can anyone assist me to solve this issue in case of our internal security guidline to use passwordless login.Best regardsMarkus

Hi all, I just started to write a deployment script for VMs on AHV cloning from a template. Using Sysprep lots of OS Customization is already possible. However, I would like to know if there is a possibility to run a (powershell) script in a Windows 2012 R2 VM on AHV while it has not configured any NIC yet. I know I can easily login via console and start every script I want, but I would like to run it fully automated within my deployment script from my client (for several VMs). Any ideas?

Is anyone utilizing Unitrends as a backup solution? I was looking at their appliance offering with cloud offloading since they do not charge for recovery. I also have a 3 node Nutanix block running VMWare 6, but still have a few physical servers that will remain physical for a little while longer. Thanks for any feedback.

As a pre-step to a planned failover, I want to take a snapshot of each of my Metro PD's (4 total). Together, they are over 5 TB in used storage. Since they're all in the same Storage Pool I plan on doing one at a time so as to not compound the i/o load - does this make sense? Also, can anyone provide a *rough* estimate of how long a PD snapshot should take to complete? Thanks!

As all Nutanix Acropolis users know Veeam Backup and Restore (VBR) does not yet support Acropolis (AHV). I had migrated from Vmware so I lost the ability to make VM backups. I found out about Veeam Endpoint Backup Free (VEBF) so decided to try it. The Free version does not work with the Veeam Backup and Restore Free version (I tried) so I had to build my own repository accessed by a network share. I first built a repository using an old Dell 2950 server with six sata slots. I picked up some refurbished 2TB enterprise drives (the largest the 2950 would take) for $50 each from Amazon. I installed Windows 2008 R2 on an SSD for the boot drive. Even though the server is quite old the dual Xeon processors were still pretty fast and the SSD didn't hurt. I installed VEB on one of my Win 10 VMs on my Nutanix with AHV. I mapped a drive letter to the repository. Is it ok to install Nutanix Guest Tools in a guest vm template before the template is Sysprepped? I need to deploy a bunch of Server 2008 r2 VMs that will need NGT. I'm aware that it's easy to automate NGT install AFTER vm deployment and I do that for most cases; however on Server 2008 r2 builds there's a techinical limitation that prevents this from working. So I'm wondering if there is anything in NGT that will break if the vm is Sysprepped afterward.

The customer I currently support has a pair of Nutanix clusters running on the Dell PowerEdge XC630-10 harward platform. They have really enjoyed the performance and overall gain (simplicity of the design, reduction in administration/alerts, etc.) since moving to the Nutanix platform. The topic of a server refresh has arisen, and we're beginning to collect all the different metrics we will need to analyze to support this effort. After that's done, though, the planning and designing will begin. In the past, I've used the Nutanix Sizer. That since seems to be locked away behind a Nutanix/Partner Login page now? Does this still exist? Is there one that supports the Dell hardware platform line? Any other workload sizing resources for the theoretical migration planning would be much appreciated. Hello All, We recently deployed ESXi Nutanix Clusters in 2 locations, site "A", and site "B". We have setup a Nutanix Protection Domain, and are replicating VM's from site "B" to "A". We have a requirement to backup several replicated VM's from site "B", to tape, with CommVault for long term retention, at site "A". While I have been able to accomplish this by "manually" browsing the datastore, and sifting through the .snapshot folder, and adding the VM(s) to inventory, I was wondering if this process could be automated or even simplified? Does anyone know if the numbered folders inside the .snapshot folder change regularly? If they do not, then I could possibly automate with a script.

What is the best approach to migrate data to a nutanix hyper-v failover cluster from a normal hyper-v failover cluster. I used export from the old host (Whitelisted in PRISM) and it succeeds fine but as the data is exported to the cluster FQDN, how do I know which node to use to import the files to make best use of data locality? is there a way to have the VM exported to a specific node?

We have a fresh Windows Server 2012R2 VM that we ran CHKDSK /SDcleanup on. After running for a period of time, the server VM turns off with no errors logged other than the fact that it was an unexpected shutdown. At first we thought something was corrupt, and since it wasn't in production yet we decided to just recreate the VM from scratch. Immediately after creating the new VM, we ran the same command and got the same results. It crashed while running on the C: drive running on boot up as well as on the 4tb data drive with zero data on it yet. So far we have been able to duplicate it everytime. We have a Xen Server with a Server 2012R2 VM on it and there is no issue running this command. Any ideas? Driver issue? Thanks Steve
