Hello everyone What is important to be aware of migrating Windows VM from ESXi to AHV?Is the version of AOS important? Anything else? Please help me.
I have recently upgraded my vCenter from 6.0 -> 6.5u1, and I'm not looking to upgrade my ESXi 6.0u3 installs to 6.5u1. My first attempt was to use one-click hypervisor upgrade, and I was able to uploading the ISO and MD5 checksum, but the pre-upgrade check errors out pretty quickly with a fairly generic error message saying "unable to determine version of bundle." Did a few re-download and re-upload attempts to verify my file integrity but the error persisted. I then tried to do the upgrade old-school style using VUM which is conveniently baked into my VCSA as of 6.5, and I got another generic error message inside of update manager, "The upgrade contains the following set of conflicting VIBs:" with nothing but blank space following the colon. Typically I would have expected to see an individual VIB called out in list form, but there is just nothing there. I am fully patched to current using Nutanix LCM, so I suspect it is probably one of the LSI HBA updates that LCM has slipped in
Hi All, I'm trying to take an image level backup on Hyper-V nutanix by Networker (EMC backup appliance). It succeeds to backup the VM but fails to backup the config files and the below error shows up (Most probably it is a nutanix access issue): ============================================= suppressed 3077 bytes of output.Creating files/directories on container template for VC_FS_MPATH_MFILES backup.Backup of Hyper-V config files failed with error Unable to get size and security information for \?UNC**Container name**@{531954875}w-test-01Snapshots5445BBE0-9B98-4E91-814F-59035D01C282.xml, reason = The specified server cannot perform the requested operation...Save-set ID '2402477366' (client '** Client name ** ': save-set 'APPLICATIONS:Microsoft Hyper-Vw-test-01ConfigFiles') is aborted.nsrnmmsv: APPLICATIONS:Microsoft Hyper-Vw-test-012D20C6CE-9416-4F18-8D14-50E2863D5D62 level=full, 15 MB 00:02:56 1 filePerforming the cleanup of 'APPLICATIONS:Microsoft Hyper-Vw-test-01' to avoid inconsist
We wanted to look at deploying teradata on to our vmware / nutanix environment. Does anyone have expereince with this? I'm hearing that Teradata does nto support nfs for datastores when virtualized, but the way nutanix handles disks negates a lot of the typical nfs problems. Are there any best practices to follow for teradata, and has anyone had experience with this?
Hello, New to Nutanix. I'm trying to add VM's to a protection domain via the webconsole, but some VM's I want to add aren't showing up. What's interesting is on the VM sumary page in Prism shows I have 66 VM's, but vCenter shows 81. Is there an easy explanation for this? I am on Esx 5.5 and AOS 4.5.2 Thanks!
Is there a definitive list of guest operating systems that are supported on AHV?
Is anyone using compression? If so, for which workloads and what is the experience like on your cluster?
Hi, We are runnning PC at 5.5.0.2 & NX cluster with AOS 5.5. While uploading meta & binary it showing error as "NOS binary version is incompatible with Registered PC" whereas on software upload showing warning as "There was a problem in retrieving the compatibility information. Please make sure that the upgrade version is compatible with your PC version."
Hi... I can't create a Instance in Availiable Zone on openstack portal with this error. PS: Hypervisor is an AHV on Nutanix Hardware with Nutanix openstack component (OVM)
Is it possible to download AHV vm disk in AOS 5.5 using 2222 scp?
Hi, In 5.5 when you upload image using prism central it gets uploded at selfservice container. If I want to create different container using image stored in selfservice container how to achieve that?
Ok Everyone, I am fairly new to the Nutanix system as our company recently decided to upgrade all server hardware to a Hyper-Converged system. Because of this, my knowledge of the backupsnapshot systems used by Nutanix is very limited, so please bear with me. So heres the issue; yesterday afternoon one of UPS burned itself up and caused a sudden power outage in our core datacenter. This location houses our primary Nutanix 4 node cluster. This is also the location where all employee profiles are stored using the Nutanix File Server system. After power was restored and th Nutanix system powered back up (took roughly 30mins) all services seemed to be restored. The next morning however, we started recieving calls about users not being able to login to the system. They are getting errors about network profiles not being available. Quicking checking the HomeShare location, we quickly determined the users home profile folder is suffering some issues. Properties shows 0bytes and all tabs a
Hi, we're starting to look at using Spark on our Nutanix cluster. Not in a huge way but to run some ETL processes in parallel. I'm under pressure to install Hadoop, or at least HDFS on the cluster but the entire concept of adding a distributed, resilient "filesystem" (actually I think it's more an object store) on top of the one already provided by Nutanix seems somewhat off. Is there a recommended way of doing this? I know that containers are exported to ESXi via NFS. Would that be usable? Would that be able to leverage stargate to access from anywhere? All I really need is a globally available volume shared between all my nodes.
Hello all, can i use Veeam Replication from VMware ESXi Environment to Nutanix AHV Environment ? is that applicable Thanks
Hey you splunkers – with Splunk conf right around the corner, bet you are all jazzed up and ready for the show. Wanted to let you know that Nutanix is participating in our first ever Splunk Conf and we are sure excited to be here. We have some amazing giveaways and some exciting events planned for the week. We have demos at our booth #G10, a Breakout Session at 12:05 on Tuesday Sep 26, 2017 and a great Happy Hour on Wednesday Sep 27 from 6:00- 8:00 PM. First off, if you don’t know Nutanix- we are a company founded with a vision to simplify the datacenter. Making it super easy and efficient to run Splunk software with the performance and flexibility you need to solve your business challenges and focus on the app, not the infrastructure, is the continuation of that original vision. We are pronounced “Newt-Anix” and no we are not a health cereal and granola company, we are an amazing technology Enterprise Cloud Company. For those of you who know us, you probably already love all our g
Hi All, (Async DR, Nutanix-to-Nutanix) One of our customer are moving their DRC site to a new location, which will require IP addresses reconfiguration (to a totally different set of IPs) to their DRC Nutanix cluster. As there are already current PD snapshots in the DRC cluster (~5TB disk space), they wouldn't want to lost them upon IP addresses reconfiguration/DRC relocation. Kindly advise for any risk; and if there are risks to current PD snapshots' availability/reliability, kindly advise for any workaround.
Hi I found the KB below stating you can't virtualize domain controllers on Nutanix Hyper-V. https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/kbs/details?targetId=kA032000000TTGWCA4 Quote: "Why? Because Hyper-V wants to contact the AD server before it can power up any VM on Nutanix storage, and the AD server would not be available because the VM cannot be booted." I am of the understanding that this might have been a thing in up until 2008 R2, but this should not be a problem when running Hyper-V on 2012 R2. Anyone that could shed some light on the matter? Would like to call the support line, but that is not an option right now since it has nothing to do with our own nutanix nodes. EDIT: Solved. Found out it is due to the SMB3 share of the nutanix cluster, which requires authentication from the domain.
When will Hyper-V 2016 be compatible?
Hi, While tring to upgrade PC from 5.5 to 5.5.0.2 getting error as "Cannot upgrade PC cluster with non-PC image Failed to find version 5.5.0.2 in proto."
Post depoying Prism Element 5.5 we added Nutanix cluster which are running AOS 5.1.3 & AOS 5.1.2. But while launching element from central it shows error unable to access prism element. This happens with IE & Chrome
Do you know if Avaya Aura is already supported on Acropolis (AHV)? - If yes, where can I get more information about? - If not, do you know when? Thanks folks!
Hi, How many vLANs are supported per open vswitch in acropolis open vswitch? Is traffic shaping is possible in acropolis open vswitch? Thanks in advance. Regards, Vivek
I have been banging my head against the wall for the last week with the same issue described here: https://serverfault.com/questions/843346/windows-2016-rras-installation-initialization-hangs I was so excited to see someone had the same issue, however, their resolution won't work for me, unfortuantely. Or maybe it will, that's why I am here. Has anyone here had the same issue? Were you able to install different NIC drivers to resolve the issue? Or how did you resolve the issue?
all - how to use a VMs console if both Master and Subordinate nodes serve out? Thanks !
Hi guys, I'm still digging to give corrects answer to my manager who is puting pros and cons for nutanix on the table. As I need to make a design without knowing exactly where he want to go, I'm making assomption on it. I understood that they wanted to put NSX on it VRA and vCloud SP. I've found a couple of recommandations / tips on NSX over NUTANIX but nothing that can be used on design part (more on implementation which is quite cool !) Do someone have integrated it on a 4.5 cluster ? do Nutanix plan to give us a technical note / any other cool stuff on NSX ? sheers,
