Wondering if anyone has seen with Windows if I boot a legacy BIOS VM with an attached Windows ISO it automatically boots to the Windows installation. If I try to boot it as UEFI it still boots to the ISO, does the ‘Press any button to boot from ISO’ but then tries to go to PXE/network boot. If I press a button it does boot into the Windows installation. Just curious why this difference between BIOS and UEFI and if anybody knows.
I have an incident with a new 3 Host cluster with NCE 6.8.1: In Dashboard show Please enter your NEXT account information to access the cluster. When I log in with my mynutanix credentials I get the following error message: Cannot validate the credentials provided The CMV IP has internet access, pinging google.com or nutanix.com resolves without problems.Could someone help me with this problem, since the Prism dashboard won't load.
Is there any way to increase the number of source ports that can be configured in a Traffic Mirroring Session? If not, does Nutanix plan to increase the number at some point?
Hello,Just wanted to know if anyone else here experienced this issue where the host in my single node cluster is not schedulable. Here is the output from acli host.getnutanix@NTNX-CVM:~$ acli host.get REDACTED172.xxx.x.xx { cpu_usage_ppm: 0 host_overhead_bytes: 0 logical_timestamp: 1 max_mem_ha_reserved_bytes: 0 mem_assigned_bytes: 0 mem_usage_bytes: 0 memory_size_bytes: 0 node_state: "AcropolisNormal" num_cpus: 0 pool_size_bytes: 0 schedulable: False uuid: "REDACTED"} Initial issue I had was that I cannot power-on the VM due to this error:NoHostResources: No host is schedulable: 14 And after checking this host scheduling thing is what I thought of the culprit on why I cannot power-on my UVM. Already the following:1. Enter/exit maintenance mode2. Restart the CVM / AHV HostAlso noticed that the Prism element Hardware tab shows 0 usable CPU/RAM capacity on this AHV host. I use the version 6.8.1 and it is installed as a VM in an ESXi host.

I can’t start VM. I checked the status of the host with “acli host.get” command. Here is the output: 0.0.2.10 { cpu_usage_ppm: 0 host_overhead_bytes: 0 logical_timestamp: 1 max_mem_ha_reserved_bytes: 0 mem_assigned_bytes: 0 mem_usage_bytes: 0 memory_size_bytes: 0 node_state: "AcropolisNormal" num_cpus: 0 pool_size_bytes: 0 schedulable: False uuid: "22deb90e-cd1c-48af-af43-5a3192775999"} The host is not in maintenance mode. Is there any command to flip “schedulable” to True?
We have Nutanix AHV clusters and need to automate VMs snapshot process with Ansible. It require to take snapshot of VM before certain maintenance activity and restore the same in case of rollback. Need to understand considerations and steps involved in it.
Howdy y’all,I am working through getting NGT installed across our fleet of 250 VMs and need to be able to mass add cdroms to each VM in our fleet.I’ve been able to generate lists of VMs but have yet to be able to add a cdrom to any of them.I’ve been getting Bad Request Errors (400) so I’m sure it’s how the payload is being created, but no combination of settings has worked for me.I’m obviously frankensteining from across the web, but I offer you my meager script for scrutiny.Any help is appreciated!Thank you!import urllib3import getpassimport sys import ntnx_vmm_py_clientfrom ntnx_vmm_py_client import Configuration as VMMConfigurationfrom ntnx_vmm_py_client import ApiClient as VMMClientfrom ntnx_vmm_py_client.rest import ApiException as VMMExceptionimport ntnx_vmm_py_client.models.vmm.v4.ahv.config as AhvVmConfig #Disable SSL Checksurllib3.disable_warnings(urllib3.exceptions.InsecureRequestWarning) #Get the credentialspc_ip ="<Prism Central IP>"username = "<Username>"cluste
Hi Anyone have a playbook that I can use accomplish the subject feat? I have to power cycle 470 VMs in groups. i.e Group1 has 45 VMs, Group2 has 45 vms and so on.
Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas! 🙏🏽😇 Last month, I concluded about a month of extensive tests and validations in Nutanix-Senate Lab with latest versions of AHV, AOS, and Prism Central verifying the following capabilities:(1) Ability to easily mass-deploy 100+ Windows 11 Virtual Desktops (Win11 VDs) in one workflow via Nutanix Prism Central,(2) Ability to quickly backup all 100+ Win11 VDs in one workflow via Prism Central “Protection Policies” to Remote Site with RPO of 15 minutes,(3) Ability to rapidly failover all 100+ Win11 VDs to Remote Site via Prism Central, and(4) Ability for users of Win11 VDs to speedily restore their own local data via Nutanix Self-Service Restore (SSR).Many thanks to Nutanix Team (Adam Farry☁️| Simon Motture, Tim Fisher, Neil Mantle, and Kevin Bacon 🥓) for all their help and engagement on this! 🙏🏽
Currently when orchestrating the creation of Network Function VMs, I am using a Prism Element V2 REST API to set VM/Host Affinity as instructed by the Nutanix team a few years ago. Is this still what is recommended or can Affinity Policies be used instead? It seems that in order to use Affinity Policy for service chaining each Affinity Policy would need to have 1 VM (the network function VM) and 1 host.
What are some good options for replacing XiLeap for DR. We use AHV and want to protect a cluster with 4 nodes.
I have some issue connecting PrismCentral using powershell. In UI I can login using AzureSSO. But I need to use to able to pull-out some report.
Hello , I am trying to understand what is the role of SMCIPMITool , as I am abled to reach the IPMIs from the foundation VM yet not sure what is causing the failure , I am attempting to re-image AOS 6.5.6.6 on 2 nodes .What I have found so far it is responsible to reboot , power on / off the hosts via IPMI not sure why it can not power them back on. during the foundation the nodes are powered off then the below traces are seen Traceback (most recent call last): File "foundation/imaging_step.py", line 160, in _run File "foundation/decorators.py", line 78, in wrap_method File "foundation/imaging_step_init_ipmi.py", line 289, in run File "foundation/imaging_step_init_ipmi.py", line 129, in boot_phoenix File "/home/nutanix/foundation/lib/foundation-platforms/foundation_bmc-2.16+r.2114.64ba09cb-py2.py3-none-any.whl/bmc_utils/boot_media.py", line 47, in wrapped return fn(self, iso, *args, **kwargs) File "/home/nutanix/foundation/lib/foundation-platforms/foundation_bmc-2.16+r.2114.6
I have customer having 2*NX3235-G9 nodes and want to have separate cluster. customer have existing Nutanix cluster where witness VM will be installed.I’m using windows portable foundation.1st- Can someone guide me complete steps to create a cluster including IP subnets for host, CVM, IPMI and cluster.2nd- Witness VM will be installed first then create cluster?3rd- In Nutanix download, there’re 3 files that are Boot image, data image and home image. so which file have to be downloaded and used?4- Witness VM IP address should be in the same subnet of CVM and cluster?
I have several Citrix clusters with NX-8170-G8 and NX-8170-G9 nodes. I want to perform updates but the VMs will not migrate. VMs need to be power cycled in order to get the VMs revert to the lower CPU in the cluster.I was looking for script that i can run in the intelligent ops playbook that will Identify the VMs that needs to be power cycled, and power cycle them. Can assist with script to get the state of the VMs that needs to be power cycled? Power cycle the VMs which don't have APC configured. Power cycle the VMS which don't have APC configured to ensure CPU compatibility. Power cycle all the VMS in the cluster to ensure CPU compatibility. How do I find VMs that do not have APC configured? This one of the VMs affected that needs to be power cycled.{ can_clear_removed_from_host_uuid: True config { agent_vm: False allow_live_migrate: True annotation: "Updated 4/14/23 to match Xen Snapshot 35" apc_config { apc_enabled: False } bios_uuid: "71ca6758-0ee3-49d
hmmmmm so templates are nowhere near as good as Vmware customizations! Not used to have to be messing with sysprep and I’m already having issues 😥! Our customisations for windows servers in VMWare just worked. Once the template was built we just deployed from template and filled in name and IP’s along with the usual hardware configs and the VMs deployed and joined our domain.
We have just had a new cluster installed and its running AHV, I have used Nutanix for about 6 years but always with ESX so its all a bit new to me!I’m sure I’ll have a few questions but currnetly I have this annoying issue! I have uploaded a few images to PC, qcow2 files, but when I deploy a VM using the images it always creates the VMs in the selfservicecontainer storage container, which is a tad annoying as I then have to move it manually using acli vm.update_container vm-name container=container name wait=false In PC the storage container drop down box for the VM is grayed out so I can’t change it in the PC web GUI. the cli works but I would like to create the VM in what ever storage container I want without having to move it after the event! Is this possible?
I have seen a couple posts from 2017 and 2020 stating that the option to backup\restore the Prism Central\Element configuration is still in the pipeline. Is this option available now? If so, are there instructions online on how to do it?
Greetings everyone,I have been successful at creating a rest api call to ADD a category to the VM. The issue is we only want 1 category per VM, so if the VM already has a category assigned we want it to REPLACE the value and not ADD it. With my current code (ie: use GET command of VM, remove Status, replace categories and categories_mapping then use PUT command) the JSON object looks good before uploading but afterwards I see the new category and the old one. I tried using a PATCH command but AHV doesn’t like that (and it isn’t in the documentation either). New Category = NEW_CATVM Original State: "categories": { "OLD_CAT": "OLD_CAT", } VM Post My Update State: "categories": { "OLD_CAT": "OLD_CAT", "NEW_CAT": "NEW_CAT" } VM Desired State: "categories": { "NEW_CAT": "NEW_CAT" }Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,I bought this network card to replace the one on my motherboard which was giving up the ghost (loss of speed). But this one is not detected on my host, I think it's a driver problem, but I don't understand how to install them.https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0CF1Y9WXV?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Hi,I upgraded AOS 6.8.1 to 6.10 but now I have a version incompatible with AHV and it is impossible via LCM to upgrade AHV. In the related KB 15185 there is a workaround but it does not work in my nested environment. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks
Hello Community, I'm exploring options for executing an Unplanned Failover in a Prism Central-based Disaster Recovery setup and would appreciate some insights. Our environment consists of two sites, each configured with its own Prism Central instance in an AZ-to-AZ architecture. Is it possible to successfully perform an Unplanned Failover without a Witness in this setup? If anyone has experience or best practices to share for handling failovers under these conditions, I’d be grateful for your advice! Thanks in advance!
Hello,I can’t get a Win11 ISO to boot on CE 2.1 using vTPM and Secure Boot. It will boot without the secure boot enabled, but it won’t pass the checks the installer runs for compatibility. I tried with and without the e1000 NIC workaround for UEFI.
