Nutanix files command to see who owns share

from cli whats the command to see which Nutatnix files VM owns a share? i’ve done this before and i cant remember what the command was we’ve had issues with copiers not being able to scan when we use the host name but it works fine with the IP

Missing folder after FILES migration

I have encountered a peculiar situation here. I am synchronizing two file shares, and everything appears to have been copied successfully. However, there is one folder that doesn't show up in the target file explorer. I am certain it was copied because I can see it in the log. Additionally, if I attempt to create the same folder in the target location, I receive an error stating that the folder already exists, and it creates a new one with a '(1)' appended at the end. I have ensured that the hidden view is enabled in the file explorer. Any thoughts on what might be causing this issue?

Nutanix Files failover using REST API

I am trying to automate the process of Files failover/failback using REST API. I did test through Prism  Central GUI.  Looked into PC REST API explorer, but I am not finding a URL to make an API call. I am at file 4.2 version. Any ideas ?

One or more File Analytics VM components have failed.

I need assistance in resolving a problem with File Analytics, which indicates that my memory has exceeded 90%. I update the VM and add 8 GB after it displays the critical error "One or more File Analytics VM components have failed." I did a power reboot, but nothing changed. Please assist.

deploying Nutanix Files on Community edition 2020.09.16

Hello everyone,I have downloaded the Nutanix Community edition(2020.09.16) from Download Community Edition | Nutanix Community  and installed on my system and  now I want to deploy Nutanix Files on it . How to delete a file on Nutanix AFS share?

Good evening, Following problem:I do have a single folder sitting on one of my shares, and I tried literally everything to get it deleted.When trying to delete, or move to a different share, I only get the error “An unexpected network error occured”, so, not very helpful on that front.I was able to change said folders owner (logged into CVM via ssh → logged into FSVM) via afs share.get_authorization_info <share> <folder>However, this didn't help.To make a long story short: Is there a way to delete a folder within a share on a FSVM directly?Thanks in advance!

Veeam Backup for Nutanix File server SMB Share backup - From Snapshot path?  Currently we are backing up the Nutanix file share backups using Veeam backup (NAS SMB file share) Current settings:Backup Directly from FIle shareThis option is skipping some of the locked files whcih is expected…Would like to change it to Backup from storage snapshot at the following path:? I would like to know what would be the snapshot path for Nutanix file SMB shares? what I need to give here? Can someone suggest so that I can avoid skipped files issue on the backup jobs

Nutanix Files Report

I have what, I think, should be a simple request, but for the life of me I’m struggling with it.  My boss would like a list of all file shares in Nutanix Files with a count of files inside those shares.  I cannot seem to find a way to report on this via Files Dashboard or Analytics.  A simple .csv export would be fine.  If I drill down into an individual share, I can see the data I need, but I am not really keen on doing that for approximately 100 shares.

File Share audit trails

I have a customer currently deploying Nutanix Files and they are looking to use File Analytics in place of their current audit tool, Lepide.They are happy with the file-level audit trails in FA, but have asked if the same audit trails are available for Shares - e.g. Is there a log anywhere of who created a specific Share, who last modified it, or who deleted it?  I can’t find an answer to this in the documentation, and if I create a share in the Files Demo all I get is an “Event” in the Files console which doesn’t tell me who did it.

Does Files NFS Require DNS?

Linux server requires NFS volume allocation. Volume allocation due to Nutanix Files configuration. The client company does not have a DNS server. In this case, I wonder if there is an error that can occur when DNS is set to an arbitrary domain name that does not exist.

Hi, When I try to open the Files console, I can see the following error: Actually I don’t know why the url is 127.0.0.1. I think it stopped working after upgrade Files to v4.Thank you.

Level of traffic or bandwidth of iSCSI by Analytics

Hello, We are trying to find out the level or bandwidth of the iSCSI traffic that Analytics requires. This is because we have allocated Analytics in a different network than the CVMs (Data Service IP) so the traffic will be managed by the firewall. We don’t want to overload the firewall with this kind of traffic that could affect to the rest. Any experience with it?. I haven’t been able to find this kind of detail in the documentation. Thank you!

Renaming a top level directory (TLD) on a distributed file share might fail with error “invalid device”

A distributed share spreads the workload by distributing the hosting of top-level directories across FSVMs. The issue is due to the fact that Nutanix Files uses DFS namespace to provide shares to the Windows clients, meaning that the client will be connecting to the generic DFS namespace and not, in particular, the FSVM which serves the share that is which holds the VG for the share. So if the client connects to an FSVM where it just holds the re-parse point within the DFS namespace the rename operation will fail with an error of "Invalid device". The workaround is to make sure that you connect to the FSVM serving the top level domain (TLD). Please refer to the following KB article for the detailed process to connect to the FSVM serving the TLD. Once connected to the serving FSVM the rename operation can be performed successfully. https://portal.nutanix.com/kb/000004187

IO Breakdown for a Files instance Performance

Hi,If we look at Files instance → Performance → IO Breakdown → IOPS, do these numbers factor in RF for Writes (i.e. actually are the underlying HCI storage IOPS)? or are they the IOPS purely from the Files point of view?E.g., if we have 10% of Writes to an SMB share, but set RF3 for the underlying Files container, will we see 10% or 30% here in this graph?Thank you.

Hi, I need to open port 135 (Port mapper for RPC communication), because I have this error:  In the files server the port is closed: PORT     STATE  SERVICE80/tcp   open   http111/tcp  open   rpcbind135/tcp  closed msrpc445/tcp  open   microsoft-ds2049/tcp open   nfs5989/tcp closed wbem-https8000/tcp closed http-alt And, also I need to remove NFS option, but I can’t. Thanks!!

Nutanix Files - More networks clients

Is it possible to add more than one NIC as network client in a single deployment of Nutanix Files?I am performing tests in which Nutanix Files would serve 03 different networks and during Files' deployment it is only possible to add 01 network client. However, this test will serve 02 other networks besides the one already configured.
