I am a Linux Admin, trying to understand if nutanix smb share can be mounted from REDHAT Enterprise Linux 8 Client.

Appreciate if someone can please advise.

If Linux client can be used for Nutanix smb share, any steps will be really helpful.

Hi Abdul,

What you mean by nutanix smb, are you referring to Nutanix container or Nutanix Files NFS?

Nutanix Containers should not be mounted as NFS to guest operating systems as these are not general purpose shares.

Nutanix Files with NFS shares can be use for general purpose Linux use case. refere to following KB as reerence.

It is possible.

Thanks Jeroen.

Is there a test case in particular example  nutanix and rhel

When i check the documentation from nutanix.

There is mention of Files does not support mounting of smb shares on linux.

I have been able to mount the nfs shares on linux.

This is the reason i cannot find any test case or examples.

I also noticed in the https://download.nutanix.com/documentation/v60/Files-v4_0.pdf.

The SMB protocol ideally for windows client.

Does it mean that RHEL 8 or Linux based systems are discouraged to use smb mount?
