Do you have a VM that you suspect may have been compromised or infected by malicious software (i.e. ransomware) and want to have a means to quickly remove it from your network (so as to not infect other entities)? Do you also want to be able to inspect and work on this VM from a “safe distance” using available forensic tools? Using Flow Microsegmenation, you can accomplish both of these objectives through the use of Quarantine Policies. When configuring Quarantine Policies, you can specify the “Quarantine Method” as either “Strict” or “Forensic”. The “Strict” option isolates the VM from all inbound/outbound traffic entirely. The “Forensic” option allows the limitation of inbound/outbound traffic to that which is specified from the “Add Forensic Tools” tab. For example, this could allow the infected VM to communicate only with another entity that maintains tools for further analysis of the VM. Hi, We purchad Huawei servers end of last year (check compatibility matrix brought by Nutinix itself https://docplayer.net/136878906-Huawei-hardware-compatibility-list.html and due to Covid19, we were not able to install them until now. Currently we have 4 servers with part numbers from compatibility matrix 2288Hv5-12 and 2x10G switches for interconnection. Each server has M.2 SSD drives for OS installation configured in RAID 1, while the rest of the disks (SSD of 1.92TB) are in JBOD mode, since that there are 2 RAID cards, one for M.2 and the other for SSD drives respectively. Virtual drive has status OK. During installation process, we receive error message that says the following: “INFO Performing firmware checks for platform Huawei 2288HV5-12 WARNING Some error occurred during firmware checks. This can be due to some unsupported hardware. Please report this to foundation team.” Final error message is: Unable to find SSD in node. Please, help us resolve this issue in form o

Hi, I have built up a Darksite LCM running in my own local network and have Internet access to download necessary Darksite bundles for upgrading. In my testing evironment, the server works flawlessly with Dell XC cluster and Nutanix cluster as well but with DX cluster, it cannot provide any firmware update at this time though currently at least 1 node in our cluster is running on an old SPP version (2019.03.01). For our DX environment: Node1: 2020.03.0 SPP Node2: unverified? (LCM cannot detect the SPP version) Node3: 2019.03.01 SPP Does anyone have any idea on this case?

Nutanix cluster works with the vDS and you can use the following guidelines and recommendations to configure the vmk and VM interfaces to be part of the vDS. Nutanix recommendations for implementation Keep the vSwitchNutanix, the vmkernel port (vmk-iscsi-pg), and the Nutanix Controller VM's virtual machine port group (svm-iscsi-pg) configuration intact. It should remain as a standard vSwitch and should not be migrated over to the vDS. Migrating the vSwitchNutanix to the vDS causes issues with upgrade, and also controller VM data path communication. Only migrate one host to a dvSwitch at a time. After migrating the host to the dvSwitch, confirm that the Controller VM can communicate with all other Controller VMs in the cluster. This ensures that the cluster services running on all Controller VMs continue to function during the migration. In general, one Controller VM can be off the network at a given time while the others continue to provide access to the datastore.
Hello, guys Please, help me with these two points: I’m searching for the spec int value that the sizer uses. For example, I see that a default processor is E5 2680v2, 42.31 specInt. But I searched on the website of Spec.org and I couldn’t find that and the other serverals values that use Nutanix sizer, as is shown in the picture. Maybe I search on the incorrect section of Spec.org, 2006? 2017? Please help. I was wondering if the applied weight value is published in any website of Intel. I figured out that it is a fix value: 7.3 per processor for Xeon Gold 6244, for example. I wrote down the applied weights for 3,4,5 and 6-node configuration (dual-processor) and the calculations works this way: Applied wieight in 3-node cluster: 43.8 (7.3x6) Applied wieight in 4-node cluster: 54.8(7.3x8) Applied wieight in 5-node cluster: 72.99(7.3x10) Applied wieight in 6-node cluster: 87.59(7.3x12) So I would like to know if these values (7.3 and others) are associated to the processor its
The Nutanix cluster in Vcenter must be configured according to Nutanix best practices. A quick checklist for the recommended settings review is as follows: vSphere HA Settings Enable host monitoring Enable admission control and use the percentage-based policy with a value based on the number of nodes in the cluster. Set the VM Restart Priority of all Controller VMs to Disabled. Set the Host Isolation Response of the cluster to Power Off. Set the Host Isolation Response of all Controller VMs to Disabled. Set the VM Monitoring for all Controller VMs to Disabled. Enable Datastore Heartbeating by clicking Select only from my preferred datastores and choosing the Nutanix NFS datastore. If the cluster has only one datastore, add an advanced option named das.ignoreInsufficientHbDatastore with Value of true. vSphere DRS Settings Set the Automation Level on all Controller VMs to Disabled. When combining all the disks space from all the CVMs within the cluster it provides the unified software define storage pool used to store your data.That’s why when you run “df -h” in the CVMs you will see the data disks mounted in the following mount point:/home/nutanix/data/stargate-storage/disks/<disk serial_number>However, the CVM also needs to have space for itself in order work, so a portion of SSDs and HHD is reserved for that purpose.In single SSDs system you will get the following partition layout: sda1: ‘/ ‘ root partition sda2: standby root partition used for upgrades sda3: /home partition

You must be familiar with some of the techniques you can use to migrate VM’s onto AHV from other hypervisors. These include our popular Move solution, if you wished to move away from ESXi or Hyper-V. Another way is to add the VM’s into a Protection Domain and migrate the PD itself. Of course, this is only compatible with Nutanix clusters being the source and destination cluster. As much as we would not want you to, there could arise situations where you may need to transfer VM(s) back to a different hypervisor. Currently, Move does not apply to this use-case. The quickest way would be to set up a Protection Domain as described above. However, this is complicated if the VM’s are already being protected and replicated onto other clusters. You would not wish to remove them and affect the processes in place. What do you do then? This document should assist you in the process. Dear Sir/ Madam, I am working on a further Nutanix project and I have installed 8 x NX8155 servers. Each server has 6 x 10g TwinX cables and 2 x CAT6 copper connections. I am again trying to find any suitable cable manager due to the amount of physical cabling for each device. Can someone please advise if there are any cable managers that Nutanix is aware of or via a third party as I am struggling to locate any. Thanks in advance. Simon.
