Hi everyone,Has anyone here worked with Nutanix in a PCI DSS environment? I have a few questions and would love to hear from people who have been through it.- How did you separate PCI workloads from other workloads in your Nutanix cluster?- Did you use Nutanix Flow for network segmentation? Did it work well for PCI?- How did you handle logging to meet PCI DSS requirements?- Any issues with patching AOS / AHV while staying compliant?- Did your auditor (QSA) already know Nutanix, or did you have to explain the platform to them?Any tips or lessons learned are welcome. Hola Gente, Estamos, como muchos otros, viendo maneras de romper el vendor lock en el mundo de los hipervisores y nos hemos hecho el siguiente planteamiento: existe algún medio para poder replicar entornos que corren en diferentes hipervisores? no me refiero a una herramienta como Move para migrar de uno a otro, sino algo que permita replicación continua (o casi continua) entre un hipervisor de la competencia y un cluster de Nutanix. Además de cuestiones comerciales que están aparte, me parece una estrategia muy interesante desde el punto de vista de la seguridad. Poder balancear cargas entre ambos entornos en caso de un incidente crítico que afecte a uno de los hipervisores, por ejemplo.Ideas please?

Hello all,I am trying to make a custom role in my Prism central. The thing I've been searching for is a user’s ability to launch a prism element from prism central. I'm not sure where it is in the operations when making the role. would anyone know where this is?

Hi,I’m currently configuring synchronous replication (manual failover, no Witness VM yet) between two AHV clusters managed by Prism Central 7.5.0.5 (each cluster has it’s own PC).Since there is no Witness deployed, this is not Metro Availability, but a synchronous Protection Policy with manual failover. As soon as I have the Witness VM I will test the Metro Availability feature.Current setup Created a container named Metro_CPD1 on both clusters. Created 3 test VMs on Cluster1 and placed them in the Metro_CPD1 container. From PC1 I’ve created a Synchronous Protection Policy (ReplicaMetro-CPD1-to-CPD2) with manual failover. From PC1 I’ve created a Recovery Plan (Recovery-metro-replica1) : Primary location: Cluster1 Recovery location: Cluster2 Execution mode: Manual Added the 3 VMs to the Recovery Sequence. Configured Network Mappings (Prod LAN and Test LAN with IP pools). After creating the Recovery plan I do a “Validate” and it completes successfully on both site

Hi,I have recently deployed a pair of AHV clusters on a customer. Each cluster has its own Prism Central cause they are going to be part of a Metro availability environment with a witness VM on a third site.Now the customer is asking me if he could have some kind of overview and managing of both clusters from a single dashboard.I think that Nutanix Central could accomplish that request, however I’ve never deployed it and I have some questions.Checking the documentation I see that you can deploy it onpremise by downloading it from each Prism Central marketplace. So I assume it will deploy a VM appliance on each cluster (similar to prism central) and I should have to config it.Are there any specific tips that you could provide before deploying it?By the way, both clusters have PC 7.5.0.5 and AHV 11, everything is up to date, so I assume there is no incompatibility with nutanix central.Thanks in advance!

Currently we are running VM’s workload in VXRail VMware, these VM’s replicating to Azure cloud using recovery vault.Now these VM’s migrating to Nutanix native AHV environment.Please advise how to replicate VM’s from Nutanix to Azure cloud using which tool,Thanks in advance.

HiImagine you have two AHV clusters that are Active-Active (each site has live VMs on it). They are both connected and they are doing Metro-Sync between them.Now you want to move some VMs from one site to the second site. As far as I know I could perform that migration by using MOVE or by doing a manual failover of a protection policy. Is there any way to do a “live migration” between clusters without shuting down any VM?Also, is there any way to do that even if you have Async migration?I have found this but I understand is only talking about migration between nodes): https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/solutions/details?targetId=BP-2029-AHV:nutanix-ahv-live-migration.htmlThanks

Hi Guy’s I'm trying to update our Dev environment which runs on community edition, and AOS, NCC etc all working via LCM, for the AHV though it will just keep failing every single time.It just goes round in a loop watching from the ilo, it first does choose AHV re image, the it reboots and get to that same screen and then just boots to current AHV OS.So is there a way to do this manually without it affecting the CVM’s config running on them?ThanksMark

Hello,I’m reviewing the official Nutanix documentation regarding Metro Availability with Witness VM, and I have a question I’d like to clarify.We are planning a Metro Availability (synchronous replication) setup between two Nutanix AHV clusters, and we would like to deploy a Witness VM in a third site to provide quorum and avoid split-brain scenarios.From what I have seen so far in the official Nutanix documentation, most references to Metro Availability with a Witness VM seem to be focused on VMware HA (ESXi) environments, and I have not found a clear and explicit confirmation regarding AHV-to-AHV Metro Availability using a Witness VM.Could someone please confirm: Whether Metro Availability between two AHV clusters using a Witness VM in a third site is officially supported And if there is any official documentation or KB that explicitly covers this scenario for AHV I just want to make sure the design is fully supported before moving forward.Thanks in advance for the clarifications!

Hello Community, we have to set up a cluster with CISCO 220C M8 Rackservers.In Nutanix Documentation I saw two methods:UCS Manager (Foundation VM) ISM Standalone (Foundation Central)But customer does not have got any of these management solutions.In Foundation VM I can see two options:Cisco (install via UCS Manager) Cisco (install without UCS Manager)Does the second option mean that I can do a foundation standalone like other servers (HPE, DELL, ...)? Thanks in advance,kid regards, Thomas 

 Is it mandatory to deploy Prism Central for a new Nutanix 3 nodes Deployment? is there any feature or function cannot be done on Prism Element E.g. License renewal etc

HiI’m in the process of designing a Metro Availability architecture between two identical AHV clusters, with each site having its own Prism Central.The first cluster has already been deployed, and some VMs have been migrated to it from the customer’s legacy VMware environment. Once those VMs were running on the first AHV cluster, I assigned them a temporary local Protection Policy (within the same cluster and PC) as a precaution, in case a restore was needed during the following days. The idea is to have at least 1 daily recovery point with a retention of 7 days.At the moment, all these VMs are located in the cluster’s default container. In order to implement Metro Availability between both clusters, my understanding is that I need to: Create a new container with the same name on both clusters  Migrate the VMs from the default container to this new Metro container Then create the sync policy between both sites etc. Since these VMs are already in production, I’d like to minimize s

HiI recently deployed a pair of nutanix clusters with AOS 7.5 and the same version of Prism Central.This customer uses veeam 13 and he have experienced some decrease in performance due to some issues between the AHV 7.5 and Veeam 13.I’ve seen on this link from the veeam forum that the new PC 7.5.0.1 release is compatible with Veeam 13 and it may fix the performance issues.https://community.veeam.com/blogs-and-podcasts-57/veeam-plugin-for-nutanix-advisory-on-nutanix-aos-7-5-12229So now its time to upgrade Prism Central from 7.5 to 7.5.0.1 but when I perform an inventory on LCM trhough prism element or prism central I see no updates available (notice this is not a dark site). Am I missing something??thanks

Hi,On a subnet with nutanix IPAM activated, is there any way to add NTP option 042 to the DHCP server, or failing that, is there any way to change from nutanix IPAM to external IPAM without deleting and recreating the subnet from Prism Central?

HI,I have a test environment and wanted to checkout the NKP Deployment from Marketplace with Prism Central 7.5.0.1 but I am unable to get a OS Image listed in the deployment:I setup a Ubuntu VM 22.04 before and installed NKP 2.16.1 and ran nkp create image nutanix ubuntu-22.0 successfully, image is visible in Prism Central with name nkp-ubuntu-22.04-1.33.5-20260104141512I am a bit lost know if I did something wrong or misunderstood - having the environment for limited time would be happy to get some good hints if possible.Thanks,Sebastian

Hi All, Regarding restoring Linux IP, it becomes different from the original,I think it's because after the restore, the Mac differently than before,so the settings are different too. Is there a way to make the IP address the same as before after the restore?

Hi everyone,A customer currently operates a VMware vSAN cluster at their primary site and is planning to deploy a new HCI platform at a secondary site. One of the key requirements is that the new HCI cluster must be able to replicate workloads to the existing VMware vSAN environment.My question is the following:Is it feasible to propose Nutanix with AHV for the secondary site while keeping VMware vSAN at the primary site? If yes, which third-party solution would be recommended to ensure reliable replication between Nutanix AHV and VMware vSAN? If not, what alternative HCI architecture would you recommend to meet this requirement? Thanks in advance for your insights and feedback.

Hi,This topic has already been discussed several times but no solutions applied (reconnecting, importing the module, prefixing the cmdlets ...).I’ve setup an isolated environment with PowerShell 7.5.4 and the Nutanix Powershell Module 2.1.1.I can connect to Prism Central but any Get-* command will end up with the error :“Object reference not set to an instance of an object”I cannot find a way to get the cmdlets to work.Any idea ?Best regards

I have a test 3-node Nutanix cluster. Just starting to learn. They are NX G9s. Each node has 4x25GB ports, but during installation only 2 were configured. Is it possible, or even best practice, to islolate the storage traffic from the VM traffic? Ie, maybe configure the unused 2 ports as another vSwtich and run the distributed fabric over that? If so, even possible to do this after install? Apologies for any misunderstandings. 

Hello All, A problem I've come across recently is that 2 nodes in a cluster do not show a bios version in the inventory nor do they recognize that there is an available update for their bios. While another node that is the same hardware does. I’ve follow KB 10833 a bit but i was hesitant to do a reset to default the ipmi just yet. Has anyone faced something similar?     

I’m trying to enable File Analytics for my Files instance, but I keep getting the error: “Can’t connect to provided domain” when attempting domain join.Here’s my setup and what I’ve verified so far:Environment: AD server, Files server, and File Analytics server are all deployed within the same cluster. Files Configuration: SMB authentication is enabled under Authentication. Administrator account is configured under Manage Roles. Connectivity Checks: From the File Analytics console, I can successfully ping the AD server and perform nslookup for name resolution. Despite these checks, enabling File Analytics for Files still fails with the domain connection error. I’m running out of ideas at this point.Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Are there specific settings or configurations I should double-check? Any guidance or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.
