Synchronous Replication with PC-Based DR

When configuring a protection policy for synchronous replication between two Nutanix on-premises availability zones (AZs) without utilizing a witness VM, under the Failure Detection Mode setting, in what scenarios should Manual Mode be used, and when is Automatic Mode recommended and that related to witness service ?

Can Foundation create clusters in VMware Workstation?

In my struggle to find some environment to practice/test Nutanix admin stuff, I’ve now come to Nutanix Foundation (NCE 2.0 worked but is old, NCE 2.1 failed on some networking issue in my environment). Is it possible to create a small single node cluster running as a VM in VMware Workstation using for example Foundation? I made a few tries but it seemed Foundation required IPMI access to the host, but VMs in VMware don’t have IPMI (to my knowledge). It thought maybe a new VM could be recognized by Foundation (tried both the Windows version and the VM) if it had booted DiscoveryOS, but I couldn’t find the Discovery OS image anywhere… Is there a way forward for an installation like this or is it a dead end?

クラスタ内の仮想マシンを物理的に退避したい。

現在NFR版でノード4つのクラスタを１つ構築しており、バックアップ用にSNRTのノード１つを使用しております。ノードは全てNX-1175S-G8で全部で５台あります。 社内で動作検証中のクラスタに格納された仮想マシンが、オールフラッシュノードの容量を超えてしまう事が判明したため、クラスタをオールフラッシュノードから、ハイブリッドノードへ組み換えを行う想定をし、ストレージ用のHDDを購入いたしました。 まず、バックアップ用のSNRTのノードを先にハイブリッドノード化し、非同期レプリケーションを用い、クラスタ内部の仮想マシンのスナップショットを取得しております。 これ以外で、クラスタ内の仮想マシンを物理的に退避することをお勧めされておりますが、どういった手法が考えられますでしょうか。 どなたか手法をご教示ねがえませんでしょうか。

Nutanix CE Installation Issue - InstallerVM Timeout

Hello Nutanix Community, I'm trying to install Nutanix Community Edition (CE), but I'm encountering an InstallerVM timeout issue. The installation keeps retrying, and the hypervisor setup does not complete successfully. My hardware setup: 1 HDD (480GB) → Intended for data storage. 1 SSD (2.8TB) → Assigned to CVM storage. 1 USB Drive (32GB) → Used for the hypervisor installation. Issue Description: The installation starts but gets stuck with repeated messages: INFO Hypervisor installation in progress INFO InstallerVM timeout occurred, current retry 0 I have already disabled RAID and set the SATA mode to AHCI in the BIOS. The disks are correctly recognized when using lsblk and fdisk -l. I tried wiping the disks (wipefs -a and dd if=/dev/zero), but the issue persists. Troubleshooting Attempts: Checked system RAM → I have more than 32GB available. USB Boot Media → I recreated the bootable USB with a fresh Nutanix CE ISO.

log rotation

I checked the log rotation interval for CVM and Prism Central in the manual, but I couldn't find any information. With the default settings, how often are logs rotated, and how many generations of data are retained?

Is it possible to deploy a Witness VM for Metro Availability at the disaster recovery (DR) site?

If I have two AHV clusters distributed across a primary site and a disaster recovery (DR) site, and I configure Metro Availability between them, is it possible to deploy the Witness VM at the DR site?

Difference Between Metro Availability and Sync Replication for Two AHV Clusters (Without Witness)

I have 2 AHV clusters (3 nodes), and if I want to configure synchronous replication between them, I have two options: Sync Replication and Metro Availability . I would like to understand the key differences between these two approaches and the specific features. Note that I will not use a Witness VM.

異なるNICとのBonding設定について

おつかれさまです。Nutanixのネットワーク設計に関して確認させてください。 Nutanix 1ノードに10G Dual-Port NICを２枚搭載する予定です。合計4つの10Gポートを２ポートずつBondingし、管理系、サービス系で通信を分けようと思うのですがその際にNICを跨いでBondingすることは可能でしょうか？ 仮想スイッチを２つ用意して各スイッチのアップリンクポートとして各NICから1ポートずつ選びBonding設定すれば可能だと思っているのですが、試せる環境がないため確認した次第です。 お手数ですがご回答いただけますと幸いです。よろしくお願いいたします。

UEFI VM Boot Failure and Inaccessible BIOS on AHV

Issue: I can’t get UEFI to work with VMs at all. CE version of AHV on Dell 4 year old hardware - AHV and CVM operational and appear fine. VMs appear to be OK as long as it’s using legacy bios. I can’t get UEFI to boot, black screen of X/f2. I was going to attempt a workaround: Install using legacy and convert to UEFI but I can’t get into the VM bios? Tried F2, DEL, F12 … every F out there and it goes straight to windows. Does anyone have a recommendation? I can take screenshots if that helps

Hardware refresh migration to new Dell XC blocks. How to do it? Issit hard?

Hi Friends, I have 3 x Dell XC blocks which are almost 7-8 years and we have plans to migrate them to XC 660 x 3 blocks. Hypervisors running on VMware. Nutanix starter license. May I know what are the procedures on migration? Heard from reddit folks that is to update existing cluster to latest Nutanix software. Then add the new blocks into the existing cluster. Then let it replication and once ok, slowly remove the older blocks. Then move the VMs to start on the new hypervisors? Thanks

Cannot validate credentials despite providing CE with documented internet access

Hi. I’ve just deployed a new CE instance and configured it to the point where I am accessing the CVM via HTTPS:9440 from a browser. Once I put in the admin username and password, I am of course asked for my NEXT Credentials, the credentials I used a few minutes ago to log in here. Also the credentials I have used for three other CE instances a few weeks ago. As soon as I submit these, I get “Cannot validate the credentials provided” in red and can go no further. Obviously I’ve checked for typos a number of times and am confident the credentials are correct. The only clue I have is from a firewall log that shows the very second I am submitting the credentials, the CVM is trying to access 23.214.153.160 (an Akamai owned IP I believe) and getting a deny (as it should). My question is what is this endpoint, why is CE trying to access it and why isn’t it documented as a requirement to run CE? It is not next.nutanix.com, my.nutanix.com, nsc01.nutanix.net nor nsc02.nutanix.net, the only URLs

ノード追加によるクラスター拡張後の処置

こんにちは。 既存のAHVクラスターに新しいノードを追加後、古いノードの取り外しを計画しています。 いくつか疑問があり質問させていただきます。公式ドキュメントなどありましたらご紹介いただけますと幸いです。 ・クラスター拡張後に新しいノードへ仮想マシンを移動するには、手動でマイグレーションが必要との認識で合っていますでしょうか。クラスターへ追加したら、いきなり仮想マシンが移動してしまう？ ・新しいノードへ仮想マシンをマイグレーションする際に、物理ホストのCPU世代などが異なりますが仮想マシンの停止は不要でしょうか。（ESXiのEVCのようなものが効いている？） ・仮想マシン内のNGTやドライバーの更新は事前に必要でしょうか？ 既設の環境をAHV-20230302.102001までバージョンアップし、PrismCentralも新しいバージョンにしてNCIライセンスへの変換作業まで完了しています。

https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Nutanix-Community-Edition-Getting-Started-v2_1:top-getting-started-ce-c.html 上記の手順書を参考に構築作業を行っておりますが、Webへの接続ができない状態のため、いくつか質問させてください。 私は現在、IDRAC上でisoファイルをマウントし、構築作業を行っております。Nutanix Community Editionのインストール後、AHVとCVM間の疎通は問題なく確認できましたが、IDRACがある踏み台サーバーからAHVやCVMへの外部接続ができない状況です。 これが原因なのかは分かりませんが、クラスタ作成後のGUIへの接続もできない状況です。ネットワーク設定に関する知識が不足しているため、どのように確認や設定を進めればよいか、アドバイスをいただけると助かります。 AHVのIPです。割り振ったアドレスはブリッジに入っている10.229.192.70です

Nutanix CE dont have ntpq command

Hi teams, i have a problem with my nutanix ce, i got the alert about “The host (x.x.x.x) is not synchronizing with any NTP server” but after i check using ssh in the cvm, and running ntpq command to check my ntp, i got the error “-bash: ntpq: command not found” anyone have idea to solve our issue?

Entity Encryption or Data-at-Rest Encryption cluster encryption??

We have a new cluster running AOS6.10 AHV which is nearly ready to go into production it will be replacing two older clusters running ESX. Currently it has no encryption enabled. What is the best option, pros\cons of full cluster encryption compared to Entity Encryption (VM) using storage policies? Its a 4 node cluster and will be hosting around 170 VM’s.

Mulitple actions in playbook

Hi I using playbook to categorize vm’s according to cluster,os,sla and such. It’s working, but I want to see if it’s possible to assign a category based on two or more conditions. I’m only able to use the ‘branch’ to evaluate one condition. Is it possible to do AND when evaluating if a vm is assigned to a category?

All existing guest VMs created in AHV have admin as the owner except one as in the screenshot, Is there an available way to change that ownership to admin? Thanks for your answers in advance

皆さんお疲れ様です。NutanixCEインストール際にエラーが発生しましたので、ご相談させていただきたいです。現在、IDRACのコンソールでNutanixCE2.1のisoファイルをマウントし、インストール作業を行っております。最初はインストールしたのですが、SSH接続でCVMのログイン時にパスワードを間違え、ロックがかかってしまったため、再インストールを行いました。問題は再インストール作業で発生しました。インストール後にAHVではなく、phoenixのCUIになる原因が発生しました。そして、リブートをすると下記の画像のように表示されます。。 解決策をご存じの方いらっしゃいますでしょうか。＃ハードディスクやメモリの性能は推奨条件を満たしています。 ＜最初に上手くいった際の画像＞ 再インストール直後の画像 リブートした際の画像

I am trying to activate the license of a Lenovo cluster with 6 HX650 V3 nodes error No compatible products

After deploying 6 Lenovo ThinkAgile HX650 V3 CE nodes in a single cluster, Nutanix Prism Element shows that it has no active licenses. In the Nutanix portal website with the end user credentials, it can be seen that it has the starter and pro licenses. When uploading the cluster summary file generated by Nutanix Prism Element, it shows the error "No compatible products found for the uploaded cluster summary file". The cluster does not have access to DNS or an NTP server. I have also tried entering the cluster information as Dark Site but it continues to show the same error. I would appreciate it if you could tell me how I can overcome the error and upload the license. Thank you.

Install stuck on Removing the marker file

This has been an effort in patience. I have 4 HPE Gen10 DL360s, all with the exact same hardware config, same firmware, same everything yet every one of them has presented me with a different challenge when installing CE. This particular server will not get past INFO Removing the marker file. My research has not turned up anything yet. I’m installing from phoenix.x86_64-fnd_5.6.1_patch-aos_6.8.1_ga.iso Thanks

Reduce NKP managment cluster resource

Hi, I deployed NKP environment with default config, so I have 4 control plane nodes and 3 worker nodes. Can I reduce the nodes on NKP management cluster? or can I safely remove the cluster and re-deploy? Thanks
