Nutanix Cloud Manager

Is there a way in Prism Central to pull the cpu sockets/core for each host? I have 87 hosts in 18 clusters. Many of these clusters are running ESXi and I can at least reference RVTools data to get this info however 6 of these clusters are AHV and I don’t know the NIACtool well enough to know if it can pull from multiple clusters at once. So I was hoping to get this inventory info centrally from Prism Central.   

The REST API for creating vm clone is working fine but after vm cloned. It was in powered off state.Is there any way to set power on state via API 3 (in API 2 it was there, but its old and deprecated not work)ORAny other way to create VM or clone so that it will be in power on state after vm creation.

hi,After login to prism , i open API Reference and login with credentions.Then i go to VMs-->Clone Section to clone vm via API.I get the vm uuid via two method which on i think i get same uuid1)ssh to cvm and giving “acli vm.list”2)While console url, using uuid=”string”Both have same uuid. So i used to clone vm via api but i get error as “Given input is invalid. VM UUID cannot be specified, use idempotence identifiers to get the UUID”I also tried get existing and create new idempotence identifiers but on executing it in clone vm it gives error “uuid not existed”.Please suggest me ,i think uuid is correct but then what causing the error.Please help.

Can i change default port of Prism Web Console i.e 9440 to 443. Is there any documentation for it.So that my cluster public url looks Like : https://[clusterip or domain]/consoleIn most places port 9440 is blocked that’s why i want to change it.

Hello, I created a custom role in PC to allow users to manage and create VMs. However, I am unable to add users into the custom role and it seems that it cannot even find the user that I created when I’m at the new user section. I’ve seen in some video tutorials that it will suggest a user once you start typing in the name but in my case it kept saying No results.Just for added info, I am able to login to the new user that I created.

Hello!Is here anyone who knows whether it’s possible to create a role which has only permission to access security entities? For example, is it possible to create a user which can only create/modify/delete rules for Flow?I didn’t find anything regarding this in standard permissions list when trying to create a new role. Maybe there is such possibility via API?Please advice.Thanks!

Hi.I’m setting up SNMP in Nutanix for inventory purposes and in the inventory tool I need to specify which level of AES to use; AES-128, AES-192 or AES-256.I’ve tried all of them and still can’t get any information out of the cluster.If I use a tool like Paesslers SNMP Tester I can connect, but I don’t know what version of AES that uses either.

A common networking configuration for servers is to have two network cables going up to redundant upstream switches. The default bond configuration for these two connections is Active-Standby. This means that only one upstream connection would be used at a time. However, utilizing the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) found on both the upstream network switch and AHV servers would allow for both upstream connections to be used concurrently.Previously, to change from the default bond configuration to LACP, the command line interface for each host was the only option. We’ve had our Nutanix cluster up for all of a month, and I just noticed our Prism Central instance is no longer reporting any inefficient VMs in the cluster (whereas just a week or two ago it had started to accumulate a list of VMs it had decided were overprovisioned or bullies).And when I look at a particular VM, on the main properties page it shows “Efficiency - MeasurementDisabled.”Can anyone tell me why this might happen? During a support case, an engineer might inquire about the version of one or more Nutanix products for which the case has been opened. If the version inquiry is done through email, you may need to find the version of a product without live assistance.While most versions can be found from the Prism or the product’s graphical UI, there are some product versions that can be found via the CLI if necessary. For example, Foundation and Calm versions can also be found using the CLI.KB 8926 provides a single resource for finding any version of a Nutanix Product. This KB can be found in the Support Portal.

When you see an alert about one of the NICs being down the first thought is “oh-oh!”. There is more than one NIC in the host and the traffic will switch over to the other interface or the bandwidth is now reduced (when LACP is enabled, for example). If the environment is not running at the brink of its capacity then a loss of one of the network interfaces should not cause an immediate impact. The issue is detected by NCC health check nic_link_down_check which runs every hour and generates the alert if any issues are found. In the majority of cases using networking troubleshooting logic is enough (make sure the interface is physically connected, devices on both ends are configured correctly and are functioning properly).In some cases, however, the alert may be a false positive. If an interface used to be connected or, in some instances, after cluster expansion on a new node. Eliminate the possibility of the alert being true first. Verify physical connectivity of the host to the switch.

I have created a blueprint and am attempting to pass the default macro @@{mac_address}@@ variable to a runbook. It appears the variable is empty. Any ideas? I am successfully pulling other macros without issue.Calm 3.1.0  

HiI have installed 3 Nodes successfully nested on ESXi 6. the cluster and all nodes services are up. Was able to connect to prism and changed the default admin password. unable to login with new password.... prism keeps on showing "server error" If anyone was able to resolved this... pls help

If you ever find yourself in a position of locking root user on an ESXi host, there is an easy way out.Since the CVM communicates to the local host via a dedicated network handled by vSwitchNutanix it is possible to clear the lock for the ESXi host from the CVM. Verify first that the account is locked. I am looking to replace my SSL certificates on my Prism Central and Prism Element deployments with Lets Encrypt wildcard certificates. I can request the wildcard certificates easily enough sudo certbot -d example.com -d *.example.com --manual --preferred-challenges dns-01 --server https://acme-v02.api.letsencrypt.org/directory certonly I get generated three files: privkey = /etc/letsencrypt/live/example.com/privkey.pem chain = /etc/letsencrypt/live/example.com/chain.pem fullchain = /etc/letsencrypt/live/example.com/fullchain.pem Can anyone advise what openssl commands I can use to convert these .pem files to the required format needed for Prism Central/Prism Element? To reboot an ESXi host, to trigger a PPR for a DIMM for example, when DRS is on and fully automated there a few questions to be answered before putting together a sequence of steps.First of, should we disable the DRS? When a host is taken out of the maintenance mode the DRS will rebalance the load on the host and as such VMs will migrated back onto the host that has just exited maintenance. What if the CVM is not ready? After all, the CVM is the entity the serves storage to the VMs. Will be VMs affected if the CVM is not fully booted or has not exited maintenance mode by the time VMs are returned to the host? Luckily, the VMs will not be imacted in any way as at the time of placing CVM into the maintenance mode the storage traffic is re-routed and is now handled by other CVMs in the cluster.Should we evacuate powered off VMs for a host reboot?
