How to group virtual machines based on application in Prism console. We have different applications running in AHV. And we need to segregate those virtual machines in to groups (similar to folders in VMware) for better identification and control. Kindly let us know what is the way to to do the same.
Hello, What is the best practice for upgrades to AOS for Central and the individual clusters? I believe I read that Central should always be updated in advance. Also, are there any consequences to having a cluster at a greater or lesser AOS rev than Central? For example, 5.0.3.1 is GA for my individual clsuters but not so when I check for Prism Central. Thanks in advance! -Andy
Hello guys!We have 2 Nutanix boxes with 3 nodes each. Both boxes were warning about all configured nameservers are in the same /** network. Ok, this is an issue we can't fix right now, so I've turned check off. On 1 box it worked fine and we got the "green heart". On another box, for some reason, this warning has stopped on 1 of 3 nodes. At GUI the Warning table shows 0 warnings, but when I run "ncc health_checks system_checks dns_server_check" it shows 2 warnings (one for each node): Detailed information for dns_server_check:Node 172.**.**.*0:WARN: All the configured nameservers are in the same /** network.Node 172.**.**.*1:WARN: All the configured nameservers are in the same /** network. Once this check is off, it shouldn't show us this warning, right? Is there a way to turn it on/off through CLI? Thanks!!
I can't figure out how to remove the Self-service Administrator rights from a user. In the self-service portal configuration, the account is under Users. I assume it needs to be removed from here, but I don't see any options to delete the user. Anyone have any suggestions?
Hey I'm a little confused by the Roles in self service portal. It looks like you can have only one role per Project. Is this true? If so, how would i go about giving only certain users ability to create VMs in a Project while having others being able to login and see the VMs in the same Project. Also, it looks like if one user creates a VM in a project then other users don't have the ability to see those VMs. The only way i've found to see all the VMs in one Project is if you happen to be a Cluster admin. Am I just missing something? Thanks!
Is there a way to rename the CVM Container without rebuilding the container? The vendor who recently re-installed the Nutanix Block didn't follow the directions and named the container incorrectly. The container has 4 Virtual Servers running on them and I would like to preserve these systems without the need of rebuilding them. Could I place each VM in the Local NTNX-local-ds (SSD) datestore since the 50GB available is larger than each VM? Then Destroy the Container and Recreate it? Thanks,David
Hi all, we encounter one of our CVM with 32GB RAM hitting the alert that it have low available memory (1GB) which is the ZeusLeader. I got to a call with Nutanix Support and I was told this is normal and we would encounter from time to time. We do have a workaround with restart the cluster but somehow we would want a better solution - Why does the CVM (Leader) uses so much memory ? considering that we already allocated 32GB have already use up a significant portion - What happens when the CVM have no more available memory ? Will the leader failover or Nutanix will run into issue ? - Is there any way to better manage the memory issue for the CVM leader ? http://next.nutanix.com/t5/Discussion-Forum/CVM-memory-and-impacts/m-p/5833#M1610
has anyone been able ot use the SSP feautre while usinga trusted 3rd party wildcard certificate? At least for us, the feature only works if we use the self-signed certificate. Any attempt to get to the SSP using a 3rd party cert results in "Oops - Server error" and little else. Considering this is an end-user facing site, that presents obvious problems. So just doing a reality check: anyone out there using a 3rd party wildcard cert and getting a working SSP?
Hey, We recently upgraded on of our clusters to AOS 5.01. This process went flawlessly! After the upgrading I noticed some minor bugs which I would like to share: 1) Missing names: Minor but worth mentioning. 2)Missing title: Minor but worth mentioning 3)Missing export button. This is the main reason I'm posting this(preventing others to waste their time on this); It took me quite a while to find this "invisible button". With AOS 5.01, the (invisible) button is on the right side of the graph: If I come accross more bugs I will post them here Seba
We've setup Prism Central long time ago and everything works in the Prism Central since it's Active Directory Integrated. We can also login using the Admin account in the Portal. How can we change the Prsim Central CVM Password if we no longer can access it.
Is there a way to export/import/backup configuration of Prism Central / Element?
This is very minor but I wanted to get it out there. I'm running PrismCentral 4.7.3.3 to manage 6 clusters - each of those other 6 clusters are at AOS 4.7.3.1 however, in PrismCentral, under 'Explore', 'Clusters', the AOS version is still showing as the original version. It's been several weeks like this now (see below). Interestingly, when I select any of those clusters in PrismCentral, the version is shown accurately;
Based on this youtube video (39:34), there is Prism Self Service Portal Available. Nutanix .NEXT 2016 Opening Keynote Featuring Product Innovations and Demos -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDVXugqcbbg Is this already in the current release for Prism Central, if not when would this be available? Thanks!
Last week I upgraded our Prism Central from 4.6.1.1 to 4.7. I noticed following the upgrade that our Prism Central cluster Capacity information was not being displayed, as if it was a 'fresh installation.' I assumed this was just part of the 4.7 upgrade, and that giving it time to collect data would start the capacity forecasting all over again. However, now 4 days after the upgrade, I'm still not seeing any Prism Central Capacity information. It simply states "We are currently collecting usage data. Cluster usage data will be displayed here in 24 hours." Has anyone else run into this issue?
Maybe I am misundertsanding, but do you need more than what is in the VM Performance tab in the VM section of Prism? It has a ton of percentages etc. available for many components. And if you have a 6 node is this a commercial deploy and not a CE deploy?
The pasword for nutanix user was reset on the prism central system and now I am unable to login even though I am sure the password is correct. It seems it may have become unknown due to the console setting for special characters. In this case how do we recover login access to the node. I didnt set another sudo or other user for this system either.
Hi, I have a question about the space used in a remote site with Async DR). We have 2 Nutanix cluster (with vmware esxi). The remote site is used only for the Async DR there not any VM that running on this. If first site lost we will restart all on this remote site. We actually replicate 1.85 TB on this Remote site, but when I see in VCenter I have this information : Provisionned space 3,27TB Used space 3,27TB And this 2 metric never move since i activate Async DR. And I verify, really provisionned space for all VMs that are replicate is 4.58 TB . Do you have an explanation or idea? Thank you for your help
I was wondering is it possible for the next version of PRISM central to have the look and feel of 4.5.x but with the capacity monitoring features of PRISM Pro in 4.7.x? Personally I feel that it is a hassle to click "PRISM element" everytime in order to drill down into a particular cluster for 4.7 whereas in 4.5 I can just click the left sidebar and go into it from the main page.
Hello friends, 1)Have somebody upgraded hypervisor(ESXI specially) using prism successfully ? can share some key steps or caution about it ? Because I have no test equipment on hand to verify this. 2)if using prism, and encounter ESXI update failure, Will Nutanix support for ESXI problem ? 3) can upgrade be done via VUM/ESX-CLI(traditional method)only without PRISM ? thanks.
Hello, where can one find info about Processor Type in PRISM? I am looking under Hardware element under PRISM but I am not able to find it. Thanks.
Hi, I am looking to configure alerts in PRISM and I see there are tonns of them :) Is there a list of top critial alerts that we should enable by default ? Thanks.
For all My VM's in the tabular view the used space doesn't show up. What should I do to successfully display it? Attached screenshot
Hi there, we just upgraded to Prism Central using the ESXi OVA, and during creation noticed that there is a 500GB 3rd disk set to thick provisioning. This caused some space concerns on an already tight container, so I flipped it over to thin provisioned although I didnt really want to :) A couple questions.... is this 500GB drive 3 normal? I dont remember having these space concerns with the prior PC install. Any forseen issues with the thin provisioning? other than possible space not available as the disk expands. Appreciate the comments/thoughts.. ..BRent
