In the Nutanix® DRaaS Infrastructure, there is a tenant cluster and a production VPC for each customer. Generally, customers will have production VMs running on the On-prem cluster. Customers connect their On-prem environment with the Nutanix DRaaS VPC using an IPSec tunnel, which is used by the DRaaS workflow for replicating On-prem production data. During a Disaster Recovery (DR) situation or while running DR Tests, customers would want to failover their VMs from On-prem to a cluster in the DRaaS service.When this happens, usually all VMs in one subnet of an On-prem network (e.g., 192.168.10.0/24) are failed over to the DRaaS service. If the customer chooses to preserve the IP, VMs in the DRaaS service come up with the same IPs as On-prem (e.g., 192.168.10.0/24 network). Introduced with the Nutanix Files™ release 3.8, Smart DR brought share-level replication between active file server instances for disaster recovery. If you’re not yet familiar with Smart DR, you can get an overview of the feature and its benefits here. Shortly after its initial release, Nutanix introduced 1-minute replication interval support with the Files 3.8.1 release. The recent Files release 4.0 further enhances Smart DR with scalability improvements and self-service restore (SSR) integration.ScalabilitySmart DR allows for file server share replication regardless of the storage density of the physical nodes, but Smart DR did come with the limitation of supporting up to 25 shares for replication. Files 4.0 increases this limit to replicating up to 100 shares between file servers. Replication is supported down to 1-minute replication intervals for up to 25 shares. Administrators need to create policies on Xi to allow the traffic for the floating IP and reroute policies to reroute traffic through the vPAN.If the requested floating IP was 206.80.155.166, which was assigned to the management interface of the PAN 10.250.0.2, you would need to open the traffic for this IP or subnet to go out to the internet. You would need to create a policy that has a higher priority PBR rule (higher value of priority rule takes the precedence); however, you would need to give this new policy a higher priority number than our reroute policy. This policy will be created for the internal subnet 10.250.0.0/24 and not for the floating IP itself.To create a policy:Go to Explore > Virtual private clouds > Production > Policies.
