Hi, How many vLANs are supported per open vswitch in acropolis open vswitch? Is traffic shaping is possible in acropolis open vswitch? Thanks in advance. Regards, Vivek

running through the big 5.5 upgrade this weekend and I'm running into a currious issue. After installing a fresh copy of prism central 5.5 (we never used it befoer 5.5, but now it's required), I cannot seem to get the ad authentication to work. The connection is configured, and I can still search for and map groups to roles (so I know at least some ofthe AD integration is working), but when it comes time to actually login ... I keep get that I'm using a bad username/password. Release notes mention that everything is UPN based, but that's basically always been the case for my company anyway (we've always logged in using upn).Anyone else run into this?

This one is stumping me. I opened a low priority ticket to get some official info, but i figured i would ask here to see if anyone else has had a similar experience: Background: we received an alert from prism central that one of our cluster's was going to run out of CPU soon. I checked in the hypervisor (esxi) and in prism element and in central under analysis but i could not find an issue. Then, i checked planning and it shows us running out of CPU very soon. At first i thought the initial load up was skewing the data, but when i looked closer, i noticed that the value planning was using for our current usage was at 50Ghz, when the hypervisor is reporting 12Ghz (cluster of 3).I pulled all of the other cluster's planning data and all of them have the same problem, CPU usage is being greatly over reported on the planning chart. Charts under analysis agree with the hypervisor, but these are looking at % usage, not hz. What gives? is there a bug in how planning is calculatin

How to reduce size storage VM on PRISM? when I tried to reduce size storage vm i got error "Reducing the disk size is not allowed". Thanks

Hi, I Receive below notification, about Metadata Usage on Cotroller VM has exceeded 50%, any suggestion on this? which path should i check?

Hi, I am looking for a complete MIB SNMP.I see that, in Prism / SNMP / View MIB, there is a MIB. But I wonder if this list is complete. AOS 5.5Thanks, Pierre

Hi, I am doing some tests with creating and deleting large files in a sles12 installation on our AHV environment. I use an ext4 filesystem and have enabled the trim/discard feature for the filesystem and lvm. But when i delete a large file with random data (5g size) the storage backend of the cluster does not see that the former used storage is now not longer used. I tried fstrim to initiate the cleanup but that doesn´t work. If I write zeros to the file/partition/filesystem then the backend gets backs the storage. Is trim/discard supported to tell the storage backend that filesystem space is no longer needed or does anybody has experience with such a setup ? Thank you for your help. Regards Hans

Hi guys, I'm still digging to give corrects answer to my manager who is puting pros and cons for nutanix on the table. As I need to make a design without knowing exactly where he want to go, I'm making assomption on it. I understood that they wanted to put NSX on it VRA and vCloud SP. I've found a couple of recommandations / tips on NSX over NUTANIX but nothing that can be used on design part (more on implementation which is quite cool !) Do someone have integrated it on a 4.5 cluster ? do Nutanix plan to give us a technical note / any other cool stuff on NSX ? sheers,

If I have 15 physical servers Windows servers with the Veeam plug-in, can I use a Nutanix cluster as a backup target?

From where we can download AHV-20160925.30 ISO?

How to change VLAN of VM created in AHV?

Hi how can i monitor the reason of Container Deployment stuck on kRestarting state

I upgraded my two clusters, now when I log into prism after I authenicate it takes to the page 'Pulse will be enabled' I click contine and nothing happens. I've tried multiple browsers. I've rebooted prism. Not sure what else to try.

I'm looking for P2V and V2V migration tool or method. Any recommendation?

Hello everyone, I have a question concerning the analysis tab on the Prism Element UI. To get started i will shortly explain what our current situation is: Last year we sold some Nutanix boxes to a customer. In this contract we also included monitor/management services. As an agreement, every month we schedule a meeting with our customer where we evaluate performance of the nutanix clusters. There are 3 main fields we focus on during the meeting; Cluster host usage, storage performance and storage usage. (See picture below) In this report we include all the data we extracted from the analysis tab on Prism Element. We import this data into excel and pour that data into graphs. (See picture below). This is where our problems arise. As you can see we need both monthly & lifetime graphs from our data. In order to get to this graph we have to: -export the data from Prism Element *You cannot select begin & enddate so after we export we have to manually trim the data to

Hi, I would like to ask if Nutanix support replace SSD/HDD with different capacity. The reason I ask is that I want to keep the certain Hot Data ratio when data growth but without a growth on compute capacity. My concern is that if I just add the NX-6035C could allow me to growth my data, but the SSD may not enough for maintain the ratio of required Hot Data. Thanks.

Hi, I have a standalone ESX 5.1 server with a VM with multiple 2TB (screenshot from WinScp attached below) vmdk volumes. VM is Windows 2008 R2. My Nutanix cluster is running 5.01, NCC 3.0.0.2, AHV 20160925.30 - Starter Edition I am planning to use a Windows 2012 R2 server with WinSCP to get the vmdk files onto the Nutanix cluster container (I have multiple containers) and then use the Image service (via Chrome browser) to upload/convert via UNC to the container. Here are my questions: I'm wondering if there are any limitations on the Image Server when using the Chrome Browser Any potential issues with these vmdk sizes? What is the syntax for the URL to access the Storage Container so I can upload the vmdk without using the UNC? -Figure this one out. In Image Service use nfs://clusterip/Containername/name ofvmdk-flat.vmdk Since I need to upload multiple vmdk files that quite large, can/should I open multiple browsers to get simultaneous uploads happening ? TIA, Gen

Hi all, I have a case open for this with Nutanix Support, however, while I'm waiting... I'm wondering if anyone can explain why in a block that contains 12HDDs and 6SSDs (3-node block), only shows disk statistics for the SSDs and no values for the HDDs in the list (all metrics are 0).

Hi, What is default NIC speed assigned to VM in AHV. Unable to find anyting in GUI.

Hi there, I don't seem to be able to see any way of letting SSP users take Snapshots of VMs. Is this something that is possible? Cheers, Tim

I can't figure out how to remove the Self-service Administrator rights from a user. In the self-service portal configuration, the account is under Users. I assume it needs to be removed from here, but I don't see any options to delete the user. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi team, I have created a Protection Domain with one VM. I have setup a daily schedule with a retention policy of 5. When I look at the local snapshots, I shows me the last 5 snapshots that are available. This is the same when I tick the box "Include Expired". When I add up the reclaimable space for these 5 snapshots, the total comes to 143.72 MiB. When I look at the value of "Snapshot Exclusive Usage" for the PD, it tells me 492.48 MiB. Why the difference? On a related question: what is the impact on performance when deleting snapshots? I understand it is a background process, but is there any impact on the protected VM(s) when this is initiated or while it runs? The environment is running AOS 5.0.1. Thank you. Marc.

Our CVMs are configured with 32GB of dynamic memory. Start, minimum and max are all set to 32GB. I'm curious to know why Dynamic Memory is enabled on these VMs? Since the CVM's OS isn't fully Hyper-V integrated, we don't see memory demand from the hypervisor (this is the only benefit I see from leaving dynamic memory enabled on a VM with all values set the same). As an explicit downside, since we're using Dynamic Memory on these VMs, we lose the vNUMA featureset (not that a 32GB VM is likely to benefit from it). Thanks!

Is there an option to Pin to SSD in AOS v4.7 with vSphere hypervisor?

Hey I'm a little confused by the Roles in self service portal. It looks like you can have only one role per Project. Is this true? If so, how would i go about giving only certain users ability to create VMs in a Project while having others being able to login and see the VMs in the same Project. Also, it looks like if one user creates a VM in a project then other users don't have the ability to see those VMs. The only way i've found to see all the VMs in one Project is if you happen to be a Cluster admin. Am I just missing something? Thanks!
