Is there a document that guides on how to use Move migration via command line interface? I know that there is a web GUI tool. But, I am wondering if there is another way thru CLI.
Hi folks, I have done a successfull VM migration using Nutanix Move 3.5.2 from ESXI 6.5 to AHV 20191030.415. All migration process is validated and fine, the VM can be migrated from ESXI to AHV but it failed when I try to boot in from AHV console as this picture :
Does anybody encountered this kind of error? when migrating ESXI to AOS. After how many hours of seeding, It show this error. However it is ready to cutover, but doesn’t want to proceed further because of this error. I already checked this VM in EsXi, it already have a VMware tools installed. Hope i can get ideas and recommendations from you guys. Thanks!
i want to migrate my phyical linux server to Nutanix. is there any native nutanix tool to prform this activity?
I hope this is an easy question. Am I allowed to increase the VCPU and memory resources on the Move VM/Docker without issues? I know hot-plug is disabled, so it’s in the reboot-world. I found that we are pegging the CPUs out when we are queueing migrations, so I want to try to get some more throughput on it to take advantage of our 25Gb infrastructure. Thanks
My migration team is doing a good job trying to push as many VM’s through Move to stage reboots after-hours. I’ve noticed that replication slows way down when we have about 15-20 VM’s waiting for cutover. I have checked the load on the Move VM and increased the amount of CPUs. Replication goes well (25Gbit network), but now we only have 2 seed streams going with 19 waiting to cutover. I have 4 other VM’s that are in the “seeding data” phase, but haven’t started their copies. Is this a bottleneck within the Move postgres database? Any ideas on how I can get more VM’s copying in parallel? Thanks,
is there any way to created additional users in nutanix move? -jai
New with Nutanix Move. Deplyed Nutanix Move and need to set IP up. Selecting new Nutanix-Move VM > Console » move login is required, which was not asked to set during MOVE setup. What log-on info needed to be set and where, or is there a standard logon there?

Hi, I have a question, is it possible to exclude a timeblock from syncing? We want to migrate a machine, wich may not delay in the nigthly schedules. We are now running version 3.4.1
There are a number of reasons you might want to migrate a VM manually in or out of a Nutanix AHV cluster. You could be working with a situation not supported by Move, such as stand-alone ESXi without vCenter or no network path from the old hypervisor to the Nutanix cluster. Possibly you want to save a VM's disks to portable storage media and physically transport them rather than push them across the WAN. If you're wanting to move VM data in or out of AHV, the methods have been provided in this article "Transferring Virtual Disks to an AHV Cluster". If you're just looking to migrate current, working VMs from an ESXi or Hyper-V cluster Nutanix highly recommends using Nutanix Move to migrate VMs to AHV. The manual migration methods require attention to detail and generally involve a larger time investment and more downtime to complete the move. I won't go into full detail on the steps, that's already done in the article I linked, but I will highlight that for any VM you’ll need VirtIO
We are planning our AHV migration and would like to migrate about 75% of our VM’s (~400) during their negotiated patch outage windows to minimize how many app teams get to set our schedule for us. Most of these outage windows are in the 3AM time frame. We would like to find an automated/scripted way to do the cutover so that we can set a job to run that script overnight during that window. I’ve seen some REST calls that look like they could do it. Has anyone actually done it? If so, would they mind sharing a sanitized snippet of their Powershell/REST code? Thanks in advance!
You may be familiar with using Nutanix Move to migrate VMs into an AHV cluster, or you may have imported VMs to AHV manually following this method, but what if you want to take your VM out of your AHV cluster to use in a non-Nutanix ESXi cluster, or to deploy on Hyper-V or KVM? Note I said non-Nutanix ESXi cluster. If you have a Nutanix ESXi cluster and an AHV cluster it’s much easier to use Async DR migration since this kind of cross hypervisor DR migration is fully supported from Prism. If you need to export your VM from AHV to another hypervisor there is a documented procedure provided. Here we will be using the articles “AHV | How to access VM disk files on Nutanix container” and “AHV | How to migrate user VMs from AHV to Hyper-V/VMware ESXi/KVM”. The first article covers reviewing your VM configuration from ACLI to identify the VM disks which are named by their UUID, and then how to collect those files using the SFTP protocol on port 2222. The second article describes using th
Hi, I am new in Nutanix Move can anyone help me to deploy it in PrismElement using QCOW2 disk file. Also I don’t have that disk file, please help to create it.
I just migrated a VM with Windows 2008 R2 from ESXi 6.0 to AHV but I got blue screen when I turned it on in nutanix cluster. I used move version 3.4.1 somebody knows what happened.
I am trying to add Hyper-V host to Move to migrate the VMs. But after adding the host, VM inventory are not loading(Shows 0 VMs) . Hi This is my first blog entry and therefore I would like to introduce myself briefly. My name is Omero Muscio, I have been working at Amanox Solutions in Switzerland as Presales Engineer for a little more than half a year. This means that I mainly take care of the customers' technical concerns, create sizings, carry out PoCs and go to the customer to carry out post-sales activities. How-To Cancel Stuck Move Migration Plan: With Nutanix Move 3.3.1, we had the error twice at our customer's site that the migration plan did not fail after manual abort, but hung up. With the help of Nutanix Support, we were able to quickly find a solution to this problem. Log in to the AHV VM via SSH or in the console. Username: admin PW: nutanix/4u enter rs,this is similar to sudo or su From now on you are logged in as root@move. Now we connect to the Postgre database: postgres-shell to open the PG-Shell psql -d datamover to get into the corresponding PSQL shell With the help of the command select mpuui

Hello all,05 months ago, I faced from some difficulties to perform P2V to AHV for UeFi servers : I performed P2V using VMware Converter to migrate to an ESXi server; and after I used “move” to migrate to AHV. While booting the VM, I saw a black screen and nothing else appeared on the screen. As I said above, it happened 05 months ago; At this time, Nutanix did not support migration of Uefi servers yet.Since the release of AOS5.11 and Move 3.3, Nutanix supports the migration of Uefi servers (As explained in the release notes). So I migrated AOS to the latest version (5.11.1) and used Move 3.3.1 to perform migrations of 03 servers that use Uefi.In spite of that, the VMs displays nothing while booting...even if I wait for several minutes, I get nothing. In PRISM, I switched the boot mode to BIOS and after to Uefi, but I got the same results. In vCenter, I switched the boot mode to BIOS before performing migration. After Migration (using Move 3.3.1), the results are the same. Could you help me
