When installing ce-2020.09.16.iso, I get an error about: hdparmStandardError Failed Command [hdparm -z /dev/sda] with reason [BLKRRPART Device or resource busy]My config is as follows: - Intel PC (Optiplex 9020) - USB disk with the .iso to boot from - A single Harddisk to do the installation onThis is reproducable on an Intel-NUC, exact the same issue..Now, I add an additional Harddisk (two HDs and one USB). Note that both HD’s are not carrying any nutanix data, format or whatsoever. After the boot I get a different error:Phoenix: ISO is already mountedFATAL: Couldn’t find a hypervisor and an AOS installed, please package phoenix with a hypervisor and a AOS. Please refer to Nutanix support portal for more information about this.My questions:Why do I get an hdparm error in the first place. When adding a disk, apparently to get around the hdparm error, I suppose that the ce-2020.09.16.iso supposed to provide me the hypervisor and all this. Not sure if the hdparm error is related. Furt
Typically, while deploying a new Windows VM on AHV, the VirtIO driver ISO needs to be mounted to allow the Windows Setup to discover the associated vDisk. Therefore, for each VM that needs to be created, 2 ISOs need to be mounted (the Windows installation ISO and VirtIO ISO).In order to simplify and expedite the deployment process, the VirIO drivers can be injected into the Windows installation ISO to create a single customized ISO.The prerequisites for this process are the following tools/files:PowerShell Windows ADK (Deployment and Imaging Tools Environment) Windows installation ISO Nutanix VirtIO driver package (It is recommended to use the latest version which can be downloaded from Support Portal) Administrative privileges on your Windows workstation. For detailed steps and screenshots regarding this process, please review KB 10290 in the Nutanix Support Portal.
Many users will create a Linux VM on their Nutanix AHV cluster using default installation options, then configure and install any appropriate applications or services within the VM, and then move onto other tasks. While this approach is certainly acceptable, many users are unaware that there are additional modifications that can be made to the Linux VM OS which can enhance the performance or the overall functionality of the VM.For example, there are several Linux kernel parameters which can be configured including “vm.overcommit_memory” and “vm.swappiness”. If leveraging iSCSI connectivity, there are several parameters that can be modified within the iscsid.conf file which can increase performance.Regarding disk usage, volume group striping can be employed using LVM to further increase throughput. There are further parameters that can be employed when mounting disks, and accessing disks can be assisted via a max_sector_kb parameter. You can find more information regarding these modifica
minimum_reqs.py The NICs are connected, not sure why its failing. Anyone knows? I have tried with foundation 4.6 and 4.5.4.2 . The Nics are connected an Intel with dell firmware 19.5.12. Existing cluster is running fine with same specs.
Hi, I have questions. We are considering whether it can be operated with IPv6 in our IT infrastructure. So,I found that the prism element can be configured with an IPv6 address. However, I didn't know if components such as Prism central support it. Can Nutanix configure IPv6 addresses? Does Nutanix support IPv6?
I have an old G3 block that need to be installed for a demo. And after lots of failed tries from Foundation installation, I ended up installing the node manually. But unluckily after creating phoenix iso file for AOS installation and mounting it to the node, an error occurred with message below:“Unable to match system information to layout module”Has someone seen this happened before?
Hello Nutanix CommunityI have a VM that is running CCTV operations. I record multiple video streams in a high resolution and frame rate. Old files get deleted when the space is used up. How can I make sure that the SSDs are not being used for the recording to avoid them to get too many write cycles too fast?Kind regards,Ibinema
Two Node Cluster creation Failed It says Unable to reach SVM Ip’s but SVM Ip’s both ping fine.

Ubuntu Cloud Images are pre-installed disk images that are customized by Ubuntu engineering to provide Ubuntu Certified Images, Openstack, LXD, and other features in public cloud environments.Due to the pre-built image and customization the OS requires specific virtual hardware such as a serial port that AHV does not include by default. When trying to boot a VM on AHV from any of the Ubuntu Cloud images, the boot process stalls after loading the Btrfs module as the hardware is not there. This can be helped by customizing the VM manually using a combination of Prism and aCLI commands or by leveraging API calls.Download Ubuntu cloud image in .img format Upload as Disk to Prism Image Services Create a new VM and attach the disk created in step 2 as Type: "Disk", Operation: "Clone from Image Service", Bus: "SCSI" and for Image select the name of the uploaded image and then click "Add" Select "Custom Script" at bottom of the window (AOS 5.10.6 and later) and in "Type Or Paste Script" paste t

When you open the console window after assigning the GPU to the vm as Passthrough and turning it on, "guest has not initialized the display" appears. When changing to uefi -> bios legacy, the console screen is displayed. What is the difference and is there a way to do it in uefi environment?
We are currently on vCenter 6.7U3j and looking on my possible upgrade path to vCenter 7 I need to go straight to 7 U1.https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/67077#vCenterServer6.7to7.0Should I wait for 7 U1 support or can I expect Prism/Nutanix and Nutanix Move to play nice with vCenter 7 U1?Looking at release notes for Nutanix Move I see only vCenter 7 for example.https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Release-Notes-Nutanix-Move-v3_6_2:Release-Notes-Nutanix-Move-v3_6_2
Many users try to periodically execute the NCC health checks as a good offensive tactic against any issues that might appear within their cluster, which is a great idea! However, rather than writing that down as a reminder somewhere or simply trying to remember to do so, many do not realize that this task can be scheduled right from within Prism. The task can be configured to execute as per the following schedules: Every 4 hours Every Day Every Week When choosing the every day or week options, you are also presented options to configure the execution according to a specific time of the day and specific days of the week respectively. What happens with the results when the scheduled NCC checks are executed? An email is sent to the email recipients configured within the Alert Email Configuration settings of the cluster. For more information, including the specific procedures for configuring this feature, please refer to the Scheduling and Automatically Emailing NCC Results section of the

We have a customer that asks if they can use the serial port to pass data to the VMs and then get that data sent out from the servers? Does anyone know if this can be done with the serial ports for the Nutanix NX-3460-G7
Hello All,I have successfully installed Prism Central and it has been working well. I have configured a “view” under the focus button in the vm’s menu; however, this setting will not stay once I log out and back in. Currently the process is once I log back in I need to click on focus and pick my view. Is there a way to make that my default view? Maybe tie the view to my user account? I have included and image below to help. Thanks,Scott
I have a setup with two subnets in the (same) native vLAN. The first subnet is (kind of) forced on me by Unifi (router, switch, APs in in the native vLAN) and I created the second subnet for Nutanix (recommendation ist only Nutanix devices/VMs in the same subnet). Now I need a router or routes configuration in the Nutanix subnet to get access to the other subnet and the internet. What do you suggest to achieve this in a simple way or what is the recommended way of doing that?
Hi All,Does anyone know the command ovs-appctl lacp/show br0-up it show:slave: eth3: current attached port_id: 2 port_priority: 65535 may_enable: true actor sys_id: 0c:c4:7a:1e:3e:6e actor sys_priority: 65534 actor port_id: 2 actor port_priority: 65535 actor key: 1 actor state: “activity timeout aggregation synchronized collecting distributing”I have set lact rate fast on both nexus switch and nutanix, but what it means “activity timeout aggregation synchronized collecting distributing”“activity timeout aggregation synchronized collecting distributing” Will it affect the quality of the network ? Thank you
One of my physical disks failed because it had a loose connection in the drive bay. Where do I reset a flag for the failed disk or something similar that Nutanix tries again with the same disk?(xpost: https://www.reddit.com/r/nutanix/comments/j4jl4f/how_to_reset_failed_disk/)
I set up a new cluster and I don’t know why “Uplink Configuration” shows “No Uplinks”. What can be the reason for that? (See: “PRISM/console/#page/network” » "+ Uplink Configuration" » “NIC Configuration” » Dropdown shows only one unselectable option: “No Uplinks”).

Hi, I often get the error of: Warning : Disk space usage for /home on Controller VM... Does anyone have a definitive list of what needs to be deleted beyond the installation files? or a script that deletes the un-needed files? Surely it is something Nutanix should be building in to the system, I never have problems with VMware running out of installation space! Thanks Eric
