Applications and data are in constant motion, spanning public clouds, private data centers, and edge locations. Users connect from anywhere. For security leaders, this environment has led to an explosion in not only operational complexity, but in many cases, uncertainty: where do you even begin? The security ecosystem has become vast and complex. Point solutions accumulate to address specific gaps, yet each adds another interface, another policy language, and another integration to manage. However well-intentioned, this sprawl can lead directly to fractured visibility, overlapping tools, and operational fatigue.Elevate Perimeter Protection to Defense-in-DepthEnterprises today face unprecedented security complexity as hybrid and multicloud environments become

This post was authored by Matthew Quill, Senior Principal Technology Alliances Manager at F5 NetworksNutanix and F5 have built a relationship in recent years that reflects how enterprise IT is changing. That alliance. focused on a shared vision of simplifying the ever-increasing complexity of IT management, continues to grow and expand in scope. The partnership was originally centered on the Nutanix Cloud Platform and F5 BIG-IP and F5 Distributed Cloud Services. It enabled enterprises to migrate to a cost-effective virtualization platform and to layer in security controls as those customers shifted workloads onto Nutanix infrastructure. (The journey behind the relationship is discussed in this June 2024 blog post.)It’s been a win-win. Nutanix has amplified its enterprise-grade security and application delivery story, while F5 has extended its market prowess deeper into hybrid and multicloud deployments.Nutanix and F5 are joining forces to deliver F5 NGINX Plus, a proven, enterprise-grad

The number of applications is growing, data volumes are expanding rapidly, and AI is introducing new types of workloads that span from core data centers to the edge.To keep up, many organizations are adopting hybrid multicloud strategies. These approaches offer the flexibility to run workloads where they make the most sense—whether that’s in a branch office, a central data center, or the public cloud. But with that flexibility comes new challenges. Hybrid environments often involve a mix of hardware, software, and compute resources spread across different locations. Each layer needs to work together seamlessly. Infrastructure must be resilient, software must provide a consistent experience, and compute resources must scale to support AI and analytics—without dr

Enterprise Containerization, it’s what’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner now. For IT organizations, this fare is now mainly on the menu for modernization efforts as well as repatriation to stateful app containerization on premises. I discussed this in my last post regarding VMs and Containers running on the same platform here. The alternatives from vendors are changing super fast and it’s more complex than ever with side dishes for virtualization.Alternatives for IT Leaders Until NowIT leaders have been deploying production-grade containerized workloads for years. They’ve used public cloud options, like Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, and Google GKE, or decided to manage an on-premises platform themselves with Red Hat OpenShift or an open-source DIY with Rancher (now SUSE Rancher) or other Kubernetes® (K8s) distribution. These were the main choices for years. IT leaders needing to order out or cook for themselves were central to the decision. What’s Changing for These Alternatives?Spoiler alert

This fear of making a bad decision can keep IT decision makers from making a good decision or any decision at all. This hesitation is part of the research found in The JOLT Effect by Matthew Dixon and Ted McKenna, calling it FOMU—the fear of messing up.  Another version of this expression is FOFU, but I'll leave it to the reader to guess its meaning. The playing field for running enterprise cloud native workloads in production includes many public and private cloud options—there’s bound to be a fumble or poorly executed play with whatever lineup you choose. No one wants to be the one responsible for dropping the ball when something goes wrong. This could not be more relevant now as our account teams in the field interact with customers who want to make the right decisions for their cloud native VMs and containers running in production. Why VMs Still MatterFirst things first, “VMs will be with us for another decade,” according to Dan Ciruli, VP and GM for Cloud Native at Nutanix.
