Hey Nutants, Iam back with the complicated question once again, iam sure this is not straight forward question and not easy to resolve without support, however let me see if I can get any support from this panel.I have started a migration of a vms through a AsyncPD as my AOS version is 6.5.5.5 and cannot do a cross cluster vm migration to with out a PD, this PD has completed its replication 98% and got stuck for 24 hours now.I have attempted multiple times to abort the migration but with no success, please see the screenshot below.Note: I dont want to complete the migration anymore.Followed below links already.https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA0320000004H2XCAUhttps://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA0600000008eOHCAYkindly dont tell me to contact Nutanix support as I dont have an active license. :) Thanks in advance.
Hello everyone, I am trying to deploy VMs from a template by using terraform ( nutanix_deploy_templates_v2 ). I have located the UUID of the template i want to use and terraform plan works with no issues. When I go to apply the changes it errors telling me the template is not located on that server. I have quadruple checked the addresses etc and even had it peer checked so we are happy with the code. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just being dumb?Any help would be appreciated - cheers
We are excited to announce a new feature that allows you to configure the User VM (UVM) as the default gateway for NC2 on AWS subnets. This eliminates the need for an EC2 instance to perform the gateway function, allowing you to use the existing bare-metal that you're already paying for with NC2. It also provides better security by forcing traffic to the gateway device without needing to change the local gateway on guest devices. This means there is no way to circumvent the firewall/gateway device. The AWS Gateway implementation doesn't allow for just adding an NC2 VM as a gateway and carrying on. By default, the AWS gateway is .1 for each subnet, and routing changes require an AWS resource to configure routing. For example, using an EC2 instance, you would have to add AWS ENIs to your firewall/VPN to edit any traffic flows. You can see this in step 3 of this guide by Palo Alto. With this new feature, a Nutanix Cluster can assign an AWS ENI to the NIC of an NC2 VM. In my example, I am go
Issue: I can’t get UEFI to work with VMs at all.CE version of AHV on Dell 4 year old hardware - AHV and CVM operational and appear fine.VMs appear to be OK as long as it’s using legacy bios. I can’t get UEFI to boot, black screen of X/f2.I was going to attempt a workaround: Install using legacy and convert to UEFI but I can’t get into the VM bios? Tried F2, DEL, F12 … every F out there and it goes straight to windows.Does anyone have a recommendation? I can take screenshots if that helps
Nutanix introduces the Multicloud Snapshot Technology (MST) Disaster Recovery (DR) with Zero Compute Deployment as a cost-effective approach to disaster recovery. This solution leverages AWS S3 buckets or Nutanix Objects for storing snapshots, enabling organizations to replicate data from on-premises clusters to low-cost object storage. In the event of a disaster, an on-demand Nutanix cluster can be deployed in AWS or on-premises for recovery, ensuring minimal downtime and reduced operational costs. This article focuses on the MST DR with Zero Compute Deployment feature, its benefits, and how to configure it using a limited access policy for an S3 bucket named zerocompute. Key Features of MST DR with Zero Compute Deployment Cost-Effective Storage: Snapshots are replicated directly to AWS S3 or Nutanix Objects, eliminating the need for perpetual compute nodes. This reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO) by leveraging low-cost object storage. On-Demand Cluster Deployment: In the eve
Node expantion with NVMe drives and newer AOS/AHV on the new node? What is the file to update that updates the cluster to recognize the new hardware models. Bascially having to downgrade a factory G9 node on an older cluster. When you run foundation it doesn’t recognize the newer hardware and errors out.
Hello, I have a question about the functionality of VM replication between two clusters (Nutanix metro).I would like to know if my virtual machines defined on the main cluster can start identically on the backup cluster in the event of an incident. In fact, my question is more focused on the software and OS licenses that are implemented on the VMs. That is, are the licenses also replicated, or does it depend on the type of license?Best regards,
Hello Dears , I want to install nutanix on lenovo HX650 V3 storage IS , i am not sure that the hardware is preinstalled image or not .how can i know the servers that will came preinstalled or not ?can you explain the best way to foundation on lenovo servers ?
We have upgrade a old cluster from AHV 6.5.6.6 to 6.5.6.7 but one node are’nt upgrade. And I can perfom the upgrade by web. Is it possible to upgrade one node by cli ? Moreover can upgrade to the ahv 7 ? Kind regards
Hi All, I would like to setup trial version/community edition of Nutanix virtualization environment. Once we tested fine, we will approach sales team for further movementI have observed the below link. But it was 4 years old one. Download Community Edition | Nutanix Community If i download the iso from above mentioned link, will it be possible for me to setup the AHV virtualization environment?

We are using Nutanix Prism, both Central and Elements.I heard that Nutanix Prism 2024.03 will no longer support the v3 API.However, we are currently using Nutanix Element APIs (v1, v2, v3), with a few Central APIs, but most of our usage is with Element APIs. How are things going? Will Nutanix deprecate all "Element" APIs from v1 to v3? Also, how can we migrate from Central API v3 to v4? There are many APIs, and we don't have much time to analyze all the v4 APIs. Thank you.
Scheduled Rubrik Nutanix backups fail with an Internal server error similar to this link: Nutanix backup fail with "ENTITY_READ_ERROR" and "Reason: Internal error."Has anyone had success resolving this error? I was able to get a manual snapshot by changing the snapshot type from Automatic to Crash Consistent, then put the vm back into the SLA but it failed again with a different error: "Failed to get changed regions for snapshot_file_path" but one thing at a time for now in the Rubrik console and there are no issues on the CDM as a protected VM.
We are upgrading our Nutanix environment and want to know if we will see any issues running PC 2022.6.0.10 on one instance and PC 2024.2.0.3 on another that are using Prism Central based DR. AOS version is 6.5.5.6 and we are using AHV

Hi, I’m new to Nutanix and I have many questions that I would appreciate getting answers to. It’s a very confusing topic for me and I looked for answers but either didn’t find or just got more confused. I apologize if the answers already exist on the forum.I’m helping a friend setup a 3 node cluster on Nutanix CE. Each node has 1TB 2.5” SSD for CVM, 1TB 2.5” for data and a 32GB/64GB USB drive for AHV. We were able to install CE on one of the nodes as a start, with some errors that didn’t seem to affect the installation and setup, like “Failed to start Systems Management Device Drivers. See ‘systemct1 status instsvcdrv.service’ for details”. We didn’t know what that meant or where to check, but the installation was ok.To create a 3 node cluster, do I have to setup CE on each node separately, assign IP addresses for the Host and CVM for each, and then run the command cluster -s cvm1_ip_addr,cvm2_ip_addr,... create ? If I create a single node cluster, can I add more nodes to the cluster
Hi All, I am using prism central to import an OVA. The OVA can be used to deploy VMs to EXSi server. When I imported that OVA, the disk import failed with the following message:Incorrect file uploaded. Disk conversion for OVA failed with err: Size of file scsi0.0 in OVA does not match size specified in OVF I check the OVF (inside the OVA), it specified the disk size as:Disk ovf:capacity="40" ovf:capacityAllocationUnits="byte * 2^30" I sshed to the ESXi server and look at the flat disk size: -rw------- 1 root root 40.0G Feb 11 13:40 gw-3-0-20250120-flat.vmdk-rw------- 1 root root 42949672960 Feb 11 13:39 gw-3-0-20250120-flat.vmdk They all looked correct. Are there more detail logs wrt the import, that i can see why import failed? like for example, what the import think the vmdk size should be? Thanks, SuperJames
Hello,We have Cisco UCS servers with GPU Nivida Tesla A30 GPU and running ESXi virtualization, we will move to Nutanix over UCS and AHV instead of ESXi. What I need to know if there are any features will be affected or any limitations where be introduced when we move from the ESXi to AHV regarding the GPU card, also if there are any documents talk about this particular issue. Thanks & BRMoamen
Hello,I have installed 3 AHV nodes in the cluster.I have 3 drives on each node:200GB - SSD Hot Tier 250GB - SSD Data Tier 250GB - SSD Data TierIn the cluster → hardware → disk table I can see that:Hot tier has ~80GB for free (the rest is occupied by CVM etc.) The first disk on Data tier has ~120GB free The second one has ~175GB free.My question is, what is the reason for the difference between those two data disks? It generates an alert that those disks are not equal but physically are.
Hello everybody,we’ve received a Nutanix Insights Update a few days ago which alerted us to the fact that there’s a critical issue with the NS204i controller Firmware on one of our DX380 servers.Currently, firmware version 1.2.14.1004 is installed and firmware revisions below 1.2.14.1013 are susceptible to file system and I/O errors. The current HPE Servicepack for Proliant 2024.11 includes the updated firmware revision 1.2.14.1018.One of my coworkers mentioned that Nutanix maintains a list of compatible HPE SPPs for the ProLiant DX servers and that I should not simply use the most current SPP to upgrade the firmware. Can somebody point me to this list? Or would it be okay to use the most current SPP to upgrade des firmware?Sorry if this question was already answered elsewhere, I’m quite new to this Nutanix thing 😊Thanks in advance,Dominik
Hi teams, i have a problem with my nutanix ce, i got the alert about “The host (x.x.x.x) is not synchronizing with any NTP server” but after i check using ssh in the cvm, and running ntpq command to check my ntp, i got the error “-bash: ntpq: command not found” anyone have idea to solve our issue?
Hi all! I am new to Nutanix and I am learning the product. We’re evaluating a possible HCI where at the moment our storage is based on a SAN which expose LUNs directly to our nodes. Do you know if there’s a way, supported and compatible with Nutanix, to export the same LUNs to an AHV solution? If not, is it present as a future target in the company roadmap? Thanks a lot in advanceKindly Luca
We have a new cluster running AOS6.10 AHV which is nearly ready to go into production it will be replacing two older clusters running ESX. Currently it has no encryption enabled. What is the best option, pros\cons of full cluster encryption compared to Entity Encryption (VM) using storage policies? Its a 4 node cluster and will be hosting around 170 VM’s.
