Morning, i am attempting to add my other NUTANIX instances to my Prism Central instance, and for both they get the "REMOTE CONNECTION CREATION TIMED OUT" error.
I've inherited a Nutanix setup. I've noticed there is 1 Storage Pool setup and 4 Storage Containers. (see screenshot). I don't know what is the Default setup looked like so I don't know which are required. I'd like to have 1 container. Currently attached to Nutanix Host VDI_POC nutanix-peristent-pool Not attached NutanixManagementShare SelfServiceContainer All of my VMs are on the VDI_POC. Can I somehow delete the other 3 and combine them into the VDI_POC without losing data/downtime?
We have a scenario in which we are running VMware vSphere environment on existing servers and planning to deploy a DR site. Is it possible that we deploy a Nutanix AHV environment at the DR site and replicate from the existing ESXi environment at the Production site to the Nutanix DR site somehow? We are currently using Veeam backup and replication for VMware for backup. What is the possibility of such a requirement?
Hello, We have an 5.1 AOS cluster (EOL I know), we wish to upgrade to latest possible LTS (which seems to be 5.5.8). The ncc is clean but the preupgrade fails at 3°% claiming a zookeeper is not reponding on one of the CVMs. But allssh genesis status | grep zookeeper zookeeper: [3967, 3996, 3997, 4003] Connection to @1 closed. zookeeper: [3899, 3928, 3929, 24979, 25089, 25105] Connection to @2 closed. zookeeper: [3919, 3948, 3949, 7259, 7365, 7380] Connection to @3 closed. zookeeper: [3923, 3952, 3953, 7709, 8032, 8047] Connection to @4 closed. And code:ncc health_checks system_checks zkinfo_check_plugin runs normally. What could be the issue? Thank you
Hi All, I did use Nutanix CE on a standalone server before for testing and for backup recovery test. Today I was trying to install the new CE version ce-2018.05.01-Stable. The previous version I used was CE0-2017.05.22-Stable. Now the hardware is same. 1x 240 GB SSD, 2x 500 GB HDD, 3x 1TB HDD. 128 GB RAM Boot from USB. 3x 1 TB drives are in Raid0 - Storage 2x 500 GB drives are in Raid0 - ISO's 1x 240 GB drive is in Raid0 - OS - (I tried this with Raid and with out raid.) this time when it is checking the disks it says "MinimumRequirementsError: A set of disks matching the minimum requirements was not found" is there any changes to the minimum hardware requirements with new version of CE? Please help me with this. Thank you, Krishna
Is it possible to do RF3 with a 3 node cluster? If so any minimum requirements?
How to change expiry of nutanix snapshot?
Hello Experts, I have received an 1065-G6 3-node block for new installation. Can someone please guide to how to start from the scratch. This is new install and no earlier base available in the site. Thanks Sam
I just upgraded our Prism Central to version 5.7.1 and noticed that the widget with the banana-holding monkey never changes when we get an alert from one of our managed clusters. I removed and re-added the widget from the PC console but it still never updates when we receive an new alert. Grated, this is not very important but has anyone else seen this issue?
Hi, We have a Windows 2012R2 HyperV host with about 8 Windows 2008R2 VMs. These VMs are Gen1 using .vhdx as the file system. I'm currently running Ntnx 4.7.4 and was wondering the following: Does the image service import .vhdx files or do I need to use qemu-image ? If I use something like Starwind V2V converter, it supports QCOW2 and RAW, is there a preferred Ntnx format ? (Image inserted below) Does the SMB version on the CVM have unique specifications ? I was trying to use Storagecraft Shadowprotect Recovery options (Linux based) but it would see the UNC?Thanks in Advance, G
Hello, I'm struggling with the installation of AFS on the last CE - reading 20180425.199 on Prism Element. After several tries (3.2.0, 2.2.3, 2.2.0 and 2.2.1) all failing with the same annoying message (Software is not compatible with the current installed NOS version), I finally call for help. Does anyone know which AFS version is compatible with CE 2018.04.25 ? Luc.
Hello, In setting up Nutanix we do not allow it on the Internet. How much does this constrain what we can do with it? ie Life Cycle Management (LCM) Although LCM allows us to point to a different source we will still need to get the Modules somehow? Although LCM lets us start an Inventory it still seems to want to go out and get a Manifest file and then it fails? Can these be downloaded somehow? Where else are we going to find difficulty with? Thank you...
When trying to use the allssh "manage_ovs ...." I get the above error. As I understand it Zeus and Zookeeper are close friends(as one would expect). Zookeeper implements the cluster configuration information while Zeus is used by other cluster components to access it? Somewhere I read that when you manually add a new node to a cluster Zookeeper on that new node is not active? Any information would be appreciated (even rabbit holes). thx.
as picture below code:when i configure the command "nutanix@cvm$ allssh 'manage_ovs --bridge_name br1 --interfaces eth0,eth1 --bond_name bond1 update_uplinks'"in cli but cannot work. plz anybody help
Hi Team, i am new to Nuatnix and i have requested to setup and configure the 2 Nodes Nutanix in our environment and OS will be ESXI .please need your advise by step by step. what are the prerequisites should I need to have. how many IPs i should need to connect from nutanix box to necessary devices Model :NX-6235C-G5 Many thanks in advance Ansar ali
Hi All I have read that a single storage container is all that should be used as Nutanix takes care of all the functionality like de-dupe and ssd allocation. I started my Nutanix journey with a number of containers for dividing into business parts eg: Production SQL, Production Web, Dev, and Test. Is this division a sensible way to go or do the latest versions of Nutanix negate that? I intend to limit dev and test to slower drives in the pool, is that possible outside a container approach? Many thanks E.
I have 8 port 10BaseT 10g switch and I have four nodes with dual 10g and dual 1g. I also have a 1g switch with 50 ports. If I plug all 8 10g nic into the 10g switch I will not have an uplink port. However I still have thx 8 1g nic. So this leaves me with a couple options, and I was curios what best practice would be. A few options I have consider are: Only use one of the two 10g ports per node. Configure AHV to use 10g for I/O only and 1g for connecting to the outside world. *not sure if this even doable*
Hi All Is anybody else just going round and round in circles with Nutanix and the network it resides on? I am getting soooo peeeeeee'd off!! The man at the show said easy peasy, 15 minutes to deploy, which 15 minutes? The last 15 in 2019? Dell supplied, but don't really know the product so they pass calls off to Nutanix who do their bit (very well, no complaint there) but then hand the things about Dell back to Dell, so I am not getting a joined up answer. So the crux is that I don't have a stable network and I am ready to rip it all out and go back to VMware. Unfortunately my budget has gone and I have to rely on Communities for answers - not a lot forthcoming. Is anyone else having these sort of problems or is it just me?
Hi All I am having my first foray into Nutanix using 3 x Dell XC servers and 2 x Dell X4012 switches (stacked), TOR switches are Dell N3024 stacked - I have come from a background of VMware using blades and SANs, so I a little confused on the process for setting up the external networking. What vlans etc do I need on the switches for the Nutanix management, vmotion and storage etc? Is there any best practice documents or has someone completed a similar task and documented the procedures? Any hints, tips or configs gratefully received. Thanks Eric
Hi All First I run this: allssh manage_ovs --bridge_name br0 --interfaces eth0,eth1 --bond_name bond0 update_uplinks and the expectation I would have Bond0 entry somewhere, however I run the "ovs-appctl bond/show /bond0" command and I get this answer: FIPS mode initialized Nutanix AHV no such bond ovs-appctl: ovs-vswitchd: server returned an error What am I missing?
What's my goal? Right. I have 3 networks that cannot talk to each other for "reasons". Mostly because we have a test system that utilizes the same IP addresses (ORACLE Reasons) and we test & demo software in Prod, Demo, & Test networks. I just did a foundation on my system because I did an upgrade and the networking customization I had to do with OVS changed and wouldn't work anymore. Now that I'm working on a new install, I'm having trouble configuring the network and getting issues I didn't have before. I've created and recreated several times using different varieties of below commands and still same outcome. Some commands below are from various tries, but same result. Error when powering on VM with virtual NIC Operation failed: InternalException: kNetworkError: OVS error (10.1.16.103 create_local_port): Error not a valid bridge: br1 Host A - ovs show [root@HOSTA ~]# ovs-vsctl show 48fd5ca1-d898-425e-9b11-484eaceaba94 Bridge "br0" Port "br0
Hi, I need to download AOS 5.5.3.1 for a new cluster but I don't find the link for this version. where I can find the link ? Thank You
Hi everyone I tried to reboot hosts using "Request Reboot" in the gear icon. But its progress completely stucked at 24%. How can I resolve this situation? AOS 5.1.2 ESXi 6.0
I have encountered an issue while migrating to a dvs, I am running esxi 6.5 on a 3 node cluster. The setup is new so there are no VMs apart from the CVMs and a test VM on the host. The dvs already exists and I am doing one node at a time and as such I added one of the NICs from node A to the dvs. I then did a quick test with the test VM on each port group I have configured to confirm connectivity. I then attempted to migrate the VM Network port group created on vSwitch0 that the CVM on node A was connected to, the migration "worked" but connectivity to the CVM was lost. In addition to losing connectivity to the CVM on node A, I am now unable to access prism from any of the CVMs or cluster IP. The page loads but once I attempt to login nothing happens. I even powered off node A in hopes that I can get to prism but still no luck. All CVMs and the cluster IP are reachable via IP, the esxi hosts for node B and C are also fine and reachable. Not sure where to go from here other than tear do
