Hi,
Title was of course 2402/2430, not 2404/2430 🙃
Having an issue in my home lab…
The issue at hand
I had Nutanix CE2 running on this machine for more than a month. However, due to odd crashes and false positives with disconnect issues on the vs0 configuration (I guess), I figured I would attempt a complete reinstall, having used DP to backup all VMs to another Nutanix CE2 setup. I believe I made a configuration error at some point.
However, re-installing with all the exact same devices and settings, I’m faced with this:

InstallerVM timeout occurred, current retry 0
Please take a look at installer_vm_*.log inside foundation logs to debug hypervisor installation issues
After which it will restart the process.
I’ve found somewhere near 2 other examples of this, stopping at the same progress [2402/2430], but I can’t figure out the solution.
Maybe someone can tell me how to actually find that installer_vm_*.log, as I couldn’t find it anywhere.
The Setup
Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VHD
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
Memory: 128GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz
Disks:
Kingston KC3000 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD 1TB | Data |
Toshiba HDD 3TB | Data |
Samsung SSD 830 (256GB) | CVM |
Kingston DataTraveler Exodia M 64GB | Hypervisor |
I did notice that the DataTraveler shows up as DataTraveler 3.0 during the setup, while it’s a 3.2 Gen1.
Additional context
As said, having had it run for more than a month I thought I wouldn’t run into this issue, however I did have this the first time I installed it, but I can’t remember the solution, neither can my notes.
All my links on Google have turned purple and I’m out of clues.
What have I tried
- Disabling secure boot in BIOS (Mentioned it has to be off for Foundation)
- Replacing the USB installation media (Phoenix)
- Replacing the USB media for the Hypervisor
- XHCI Hand-off (Disabled and enabled) -- Desperate
- Tried all the various USB port combinations
- Waited patiently for decades while the installation fails a few times
- Lastly, having it running overnight it did finish with caveat, didn’t reach 2430/2430 but said to remove installation media and reboot, which I did, but no CVM was listed running virsh list --all
Hoping for any point or direction at this point.
Thanks in advance!
