How to backup objects which is located Nutanix Objects?

Nutanix object is s3 compataible did you check with your backup  vendor about compatiblity.

There are some backup vendor who can do that, like Commvault

One idea for you would be to create a specific bucket within Nutanix Objects to be the landing zone of the backup operation, a number of vendors support this such as Commvault, HYCU, Veeam and potentially others.   Then you can use Nutanix Objects bucket level replication, to replicate that backup bucket to another S3 store giving you geographic data protection if that is what you require. Any S3 compatible Object store could work for this.  There are some pros and cons to this.   The biggest con is that your backup software will not have visibility to the replicated bucket.

Snapshots to Objects is not here just quite yet.   It is predicted for release in 2024.   It will a be game changer for Disaster Recovery options, but will increase the RTO as compared to DRaaS or Aysnc replication.   You can see this in action from the link below.   The solution is specific to NC2 on AWS, but is not currently ready for on-prem clusters.   We’re pretty excited for this to come to On-Prem clusters in the near future.

You could also use snapshot replication and store the snapshots on a secondary cluster, in another availability zone with a longer retention time.   It won’t have all the same features as a standard backup solution, and isn’t optimized for long term data retention, but it does check the box for another copy of your data that is offsite.

Hey @LinKan , a fairly common solution for protecting your object data is to set up streaming replication to another Nutanix Objects instance (on separate physical cluster, ideally remote) and enable versioning for past restore point capabilities. You can also choose to not replicate delete markers, thereby ensuring that even if an object was deleted at source it will still be available on the target bucket.

Customer may has some on-premise traditional backup idea: Daily incremental backup and do the monthly full backup and so on.

So that’s I want to get the solution. Currently, we did some testing for VEEAM, it fulfill the requiements from customer.
