Attempting initial installation receive error: An error occurred while trying to illuminate the chassis LED

Hello!

I’ve heard much fun and nice about nutanix and wanted to give it a go on a DELLEMC PE T40.

However installation stops due to not being able to illuminate chassis LEDS.

I’ve been lookin into this: https://svenbergendahl.com/resolve-intel-nuc-12th-gen-network-adapter-issue-during-nutanix-ce-installation However seems like this driver is not loaded and the problem seems to be elsewhere.

Can you provide some more specs on the server?  What CPU, how much memory, and what manufacturer network adapters are in it?  Can you also detail the disk controller and what size/type of disks you’re using?   You can get most of that information via iDRAC.   Also, illuminating the chassis LED is a benign error message during CE installation, so I imagine something else has failed.

A screenshot of the console or a photo attached of your disk select screen and also the full error will be a huge help in getting things up and running.

@ktelep

I have the same/similar issue. I've tried bare metal install and virtualized with the same error at the same spot. 128gb ram, 28 core intel cpu, 28TB in a super micro Chassis. Super micro X10DRU-i (link to mobo) https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/motherboard/X10DRU-i+

Looks like the same thing happening to me.  ESXi 7.0 Update 3.

The chassis led is not an issue. This is correct as it cant access the LED, so that is why it generates an error. But it will continue. The error (or fatal ;)) is below that. (the used hardware is not on the HCL and CE is now using production bits etc etc)

Looks you all got the same fatal there. Can you guys post a screenshot of the wizard (there where to chose the disks)?

Thank you for the follow-up.

I meant to reply earlier, but I couldn’t find my post.

I was playing with Nutanix on VMWare ESXi 7 Update 3 and had selected SCSI disks instead of SATA.

I also may not have defined enough disks (Install, CVM, Data, Hypervisor) on that attempt.

It found a tutorial that really helped.  I can’t seem to locate that one right now, but this one looks similar and possibly better.
