Can you explain the safest way to upgrade Nutanix files product please.  3 nodes cluster, with 2 files servers.  Current version 3.6 on Esxi 6.5 and AOS 5.15.4 LTS. I can have if needed a little down time to snapshot in vmware the Nutanix files VM maybe before the upgrade process?

I got some commvault backup but it a long process to restore 7TB of files… so i want a quick and easy way to back off it the upgrade process fail.

Hi micfra01,

We do not recommend taking VM snapshot of Files Server VMs. Perform pre-upgrade checks. Resolve any issues flagged. Check again. Perform the upgrade. If there are any issues during the upgrade it will roll back to the original version.

If it is stuck you should open a case with Nutanix Support and the engineer will do everything possible to restore the functionality and complete the upgrade. It is unlikely that the data will be lost.
