Hi Paul,

Nutanix Platform have two advanced networking concept, Flow Networking and Flow Security.

Flow Networking : Its is also referred as VPC and similar to VPC/vNet in public cloud to provide isolated network services like VPN/NAT/policy based Routing etc,

Flow Security: is micro-segmentation solution securing workload with total visibility advanced third-party security solution integration, etc.

Now Both solutions can be deployed integrated or independently and managed through Prism Central that is the key plus point along the simplicity. To configure and manage both you don’t need any networking or security advanced knowledge.

Now the reply to your questions are as follows

1.Does Nutanix flow has an intelligent to perform virtual switching and routing  , creating additional virtual routers ? - No, Flow Networking is not a SDN solution, its more as Cloud Networking Platform.

2. Does Flow use Private vlan or different concept to identify the traffic and send to right destination? - It uses Geneve protocol to overlay the traffic.

3.How the traffic flow from one tier to another tier in micro segmentation ? - What is meant by tier? you can find technical details at following link

4. What are the changes done at openswitch level when we enable flow? The above link can help understand

5.What are the changes done at openswitch level when we enable micro segmentation? The above link can help understand

6.Does Nutanix flow support vxlan? Yes and No, more details can be fond here

The details are as of Nov 2023, later release might add some basic switching or routing which i don’t have any visibility. If you need any more details you can reach out to me by DM or directly.
