Good evening Nutanix’ers, After I configured an active-active bundle on my virtual switch in PE, and modifying my upstream switch with LACP, all seemed well. However, I noticed that the hypervisor rolling reboot never finished, and its been stuck at 90% for ~3 hours. When viewing incomplete tasks in ecli, I noticed that the virtual switch update and hypervisor rolling restore are both stuck at “kRunning.” Screenshot I am thinking about killing the rolling restart task, however doing so warns me that “Using this command can cause database corruption and complete system failure, if used improperly.” I admit that I may have not fully appreciated a step about maintenance mode when following this kb here for this specific configuration, so if I’m borked, then I’ll chalk it up to a learning experience. However, I’d like to see what my options are :). Despite all of this, I’ve confirmed LACP is negotiated, and the rest of the system seems normal despite the stuck task. What do you guys think?
Hi Nutanix Peeps, I am new in HCI technology and would like to seek your insights on how to configure native VLAN in the Nutanix Environment. The plan was to remove the default VLAN (Data Traffic) to all Cisco access switches therefore removing it will also require to configure new native VLAN in the trunk link between the switches and Nutanix Hosts. Any help would be pretty much appreciated. Thank you so much!
Hello,I am a newbie with Nutanix. Recently, at work, we acquired an NX-1065-G5 with 3 nodes.We currently have Nutanix Community Edition (CE) installed on an HP workstation with a 3-node cluster. We would like to migrate to the newly acquired NX-1065-G5. What would be the best way to approach this migration, and how does the Nutanix CE installation differ between the HP workstation and the NX-1065-G5?
I need to edit XML <feature> <hyperv mode> <cpu mode> by command “virsh edit vm_name”on the host.but when powered off VMs there not show UUID on any host. acli vm.update cannot edit XML file like “virsh edit vm_name”
Hi TeamI am trying to create a VM in a specified container by using Prism Central V3 API. I am passing the container details in the storage_config → storage_container_reference of the payload. But what i observed that the VM is always getting created in the SelfServiceContainer.I am using Nutanix Community Edition.AOS : 6.5.2 LTSPrism Central : pc.2022.6.0.11Can you please let me know why new VMs are not being created in the specified storage container and instead end up in the SelfService Container despite passing the correct container UUID in the VM creation API payload? Hello,I’m somewhat new to Nutanix and have a lot to learn obviously. I think this is my first post/question.We have an old cluster running a single VM for Prism Central that used to work for a 3 node cluster. I cant recall when it stopped working. The cluster is fine, the nodes are fine, Prism portal on each node runs fine.My thought… Q1) Does the Prism Central web service require credentials to start properly (see orange highlight below)? Maybe I somehow need to reset the nutanix or root passwords that the HTTP service is trying to use/connect?Q2) Any other tips to try to help get PC working again?Q3) Can I simply de-register the PC from the cluster, then try to redeploy a new one or over top of the existing one? Would that process have an impact on the VMs currently running in the cluster? Hello, I am seeking your assistance with enabling replication on my cluster, which consists of 5 servers and 60 VMs. I am undecided between Metro mode and Asynchronous mode on Prism Central. Given that I have two clusters using Metro-type replication, we encounter difficulties when Metro mode is activated, as clients experience significant slowdowns on their VMs. This is why I am considering enabling Asynchronous replication on Prism Central. My question is: if I activate Asynchronous replication on Prism Central while other clusters are using Metro mode, will this have any impact? Thank you for your help.
Hi, I am interested in using Nutanix Calm DSL to automate certain Calm tasks, specifically updating our existing applications to use python3 escripts instead of python2. I noticed that the docker tags for DSL only run from v3.7.0. May I know if there is a minimum version of Nutanix Calm that DSL needs to run on? We are using Calm v3.5.2 at the moment and I don’t have an environment with a later version to try out DSL. Thanks.

Hello, we are currently evaluating Nutanix as an alternative to esxi. To get some hands on experience with the product we wanted to install it on one of our lab servers. However, I was not able to start Nutanix after the installation. For Installation, I followed the following Youtube tutrial as well as the installation procedure mentioned on the Nutanix documentation. I keep always stuck on the step where the cluster needs to be started. After installing and booting into AOS, I first run the command `cluster --cluster_function_list="one_node_cluster" --svm_ips= (CVM IP) create` in order to create a single node cluster as mentioned in the video. I am trying to upgrade an old Nutanix cluster managed by Prism Central. We have done the LCM upgrade and NCC upgrade, however when moving to PC it is failing the Preupgrade checks with the error ‘failed to untar /home/nutanix/software_downloads/prism_central/pc.2022.6.0.10 with ret 2 out err tar:/home/nutanix/software_uncompressed/nos/pc2022.6.0.10: Cannot open:No such file or directory’I can see the files get extracted into the software_uncompressed/nos/2022.6.0.10 folder but they are then getting automatuically deleted which leads me to think something is failing a hash check somewhere. The same happens with 2022.6.0.11. Any ideas on how I can resolve this to enable me to upgrade PC?
I recently built a Nutanix CE 3-node cluster on ESXi. The cluster’s up and I want to add a 4th identical node so I can replace node 1 (I have another thread on the disk skew issue I’m seeing there), but the precheck cassandra_ssd_size_check fails when preparing to add the new node (SSD tier on nodes [u'xx.xx.xx.xx'] is not sized to accomodate expected metadata growth on cluster).I wonder if this is a bug because the same NCC Health Check (cassandra_ssd_size_check) runs every hour on the cluster without any problems, and the new node is identical in its disk sizes to the existing nodes.Is there a log somewhere that would tell me what it checked and how/why it failed?Is there a way to verify which disk was assigned to Data and which to CVM boot during install? All of the commands I can thus far locate just tell me info on the virtual disks.

Currently, i see that prism java client and other java libraries with version of 4.0.1-beta-1 are dependent on spring-boot (2.5.14). Since it includes many vulnerabilities, is there a version with the latest springboot version or version above 3.0? Thanks

Hi Trying to install the Nutanix CE on my Dell R620 , I have 3 Drives , 1 SSD and 2x HDD First issue i had as the Nutanix installtion was seeying y SSD as HDD I fixed that by running the below command :lsblk -d -o name,rotaif it is 1 then it is HDD lsblk to identify the SSD if it is sdasudo sh -c 'echo 0 > /sys/block/sda/queue/rotational' Then the system recognise the SSD.I select SSD as C, and the other two HDD as H and D. I have an old cluster of 4 NX-8035 nodes running AHV used for testing purposes. The LCM update is failing with sata_dom_wearout_check. Is there anyway to skip that check when running LCM updates? This is old hardware and I wont be replacing any parts, just want to get updates to run.

Im envisioning building a three node cluster, each node with the same storage layout, all flash:Boot device: 1x 250GB SSDStorage device, hot tier: 2x 2TB SSDStorage device, cold tier: nothing This would comply with the ‘maximum number of SSD/HDD drives per node is 4’ instruction. I dont want to have any HDDs in the installation. Is the drive layout I presented viable? Cheers!

I’m going to go out on a limb and ask if anyone knows if 2.7.7.0 of Nutanix AHV Plugin for Citrix impacts all AOS versions? There’s plenty of cloud-only phenomena that don’t impact on-prem “hybrid” clusters. Be nice to have some background other than “do it” before scheduling an outage for my CVAD services to upgrade a plugin.
I have a cluster of 7 nodes of which 2 are Lenovo HX3320 with 480GB SSD + 6 2TB HDD and I need to replace the 480GB ones with 3.86TB or larger, due to recent growth in the number of nodes in the cluster. What is the correct procedure to make the change?
Hi TeamI had a complete working setup of Nutanix Community Edition along with Prism Central deployed. I was able to access my prism central through UI and Rest API for working with virtual machines. But suddenly i was disconnected from my PCVM today morning and was not able to access anymore. I tried to do ssh and logged in through PC UI but I couldn’t. I am able to log into both my AHV VM and CVM. In CVM, cluster status is showing all services are up and running.Referred this KB article but no luck.https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA00e000000CpzXCASCan you please help me here.
