Hello, I'm struggling with the installation of AFS on the last CE - reading 20180425.199 on Prism Element. After several tries (3.2.0, 2.2.3, 2.2.0 and 2.2.1) all failing with the same annoying message (Software is not compatible with the current installed NOS version), I finally call for help. Does anyone know which AFS version is compatible with CE 2018.04.25 ? Luc.
When trying to use the allssh "manage_ovs ...." I get the above error. As I understand it Zeus and Zookeeper are close friends(as one would expect). Zookeeper implements the cluster configuration information while Zeus is used by other cluster components to access it? Somewhere I read that when you manually add a new node to a cluster Zookeeper on that new node is not active? Any information would be appreciated (even rabbit holes). thx.

Hi Team, We use SCVMM to manage all our VM's and we are planning to move some machines to the AHV environment..Can you please confirm whether we will be able to do the live migration my VM's from HyperV to AHV?? Regards, V.Pradeep
Hello, I have questions on SSD pool and ILM mechanism I still did not found answers for after cross reading dozens of web sites and forums. Probably the response is obvious but I feel like I am missing something here and would like to have certainties on these points. So, let's suppose I have a 4 hybrid (1065) node cluster and I am running out of SSD. Q1) Can I technically add an All Flash node in the same cluster container ? Q2) Will the VMs hosted on this specific AF node automatically be all flash VMs (with no ILM and cold tier drain mechanism) ... or will they use the cluster cold storage pool (from other hybrid nodes) ? ===== Regarding the ILM mechanism and different SSD thresold, I (think I) understood that: - data will preferentially be stored on local SSD of each node until it reaches 75% usage - If one node reaches 75% of SSD usage, then ILM will send "less hotest" local SSD data over the network to other remote SSD nodes - If all nodes fi
Is it possible to implement throttling at a per VM level? The thoughts/scenario behind the question: We have had on a couple occasions where we found a VM (different in each occasion) that was running away with storage controller IOPs. Of course the goal is to get the actual issue resolved for the offending VM, but we would like to be able to implement throttling to be able to assure other VMs in that cluster don't suffer when this does occur. Disk I/O has been the scenario so far, but could also see the need to throttle CPU, memory, and/or NIC throughput at some point.
Without a backup solution, am I able to restore a vm on AHV using the built in RF?
Is there a way to deactivate an old Protection Domain and move the snapshot data to a new Protection Domain?
Does anyone know of any official documentation on the best way to perform a migration from Hyper-V 2016 on Nutanix to a new AHV cluster (not an in place migration)? Or any good guides on doing this? It is going from Hyper-V 2016 to AHV but 2012 would be helpful. I have found a few articles but they are either quite old or not very well written. Hello, I have turned on Windows Dedup for some of my file servers that reside on AHV, however the storage reduction is not reflected on Prism. Any thoughts as to why? I wish I could run the Capacity Dedup from AHV however the last time that I turned it on I received the following alert: Do not replicate protection domain XXXXXXX comprising entities from the storage container that have deduplication enabled to a single node remote site XXXXXXX. (XXX denote omitted field)
How do virtual machines on AHV migrate to vmware?
So, does anyone know a way of getting information on what error codes mean what? Like a KB or something of error codes?
Hi All, I ran a Foundation upgrade pre-check on my single node cluster and now Prism times out when trying to log in as a standard user or admin and when I try to run acli in a ssh session to the cvm I get "Failed to connect to server: [Errno 111] Connection refused" Where to from here? Thanks in advance, Chris
Hi All I have read that a single storage container is all that should be used as Nutanix takes care of all the functionality like de-dupe and ssd allocation. I started my Nutanix journey with a number of containers for dividing into business parts eg: Production SQL, Production Web, Dev, and Test. Is this division a sensible way to go or do the latest versions of Nutanix negate that? I intend to limit dev and test to slower drives in the pool, is that possible outside a container approach? Many thanks E.
