Installation and Upgrade

Installation and Upgrade Guide: For upgrading to AOS AHV or Prism Central, refer to the LCM Upgrade Guide. Ensure all compatibility checks are performed as outlined in the Nutanix Compatibility and Software Interoperability section .

AHV Installer Bundle: The AOS bundle no longer includes AHV. For deploying an AHV environment with AOS 6.8 or later, download the AHV installer bundle from the Nutanix Support Portal .

Compatibility Matrices: Before installation or upgrade, consult the Nutanix support portal for various compatibility matrices including upgrade paths, hardware model compatibility, and AHV guest OS compatibility .

TCP Wrapper: Starting with AOS 6.8, TCP Wrapper is no longer supported .

Chrony for NTP: Chrony replaces the deprecated NTP package .
Requirements and Considerations

NetBackup 8.2: Support requires an emergency engineering binary (EEB) from Veritas Support .

VLAN Discovery: VLAN discovery is disabled by default to prevent VM unavailability issues. If previously enabled, it will be disabled post-upgrade .

Virtual Switch Migration: Ensure specific requirements are fulfilled for a successful virtual switch migration during the AOS upgrade .

NVIDIA GPUs: Nutanix supports NVIDIA GPU cards based on compatible AOS and AHV versions. Refer to the NVIDIA GRID Host Driver for AHV Installation Guide for details .

Host-Based Reservation: The host-based reservation method is deprecated and not supported. Segment-based reservation is used for VM high availability .

LCM Updates and Rolling Reboots: Resolved failure issues in mixed clusters running AHV alongside Icelake and Sapphire Rapid nodes .
