Does Nutanix Prism Central Support Adding Vendor App as a plugin? | Nutanix Community

Can Prism Central support like Vender provides  an app -  https://monitoring-tool.com which will internally call Prism Central API to monitor clusters?

Hello,

Third party apps can monitor Prism Central through API calls. We do this by calling for health and open alerts etc.

Thanks, Kcmount, for your reply!  Will this third party app can be launched from Prism Central Web console?  The chatGPT’s search give the steps like below.  Feels like doable, but I am not able to find any documentation regarding this.  Any one know about this?

To register a remote plugin in Nutanix Prism Central, follow these steps:

    • Access Prism Central:

      • Log in to your Nutanix Prism Central interface using your admin credentials.
    • Navigate to the Plugin Section:

      • From the left sidebar, go to the "Settings" section (the gear icon).
      • Under "External Services," select "Plugins."
    • Add a New Plugin:

      • Click on the “Add Plugin” button.
      • You will be prompted to provide details about the plugin you want to register.
    • Enter Plugin Details:

      • Name: Provide a name for the plugin.
      • Description: Optionally, add a description for the plugin.
      • URL: Enter the URL where the remote plugin is hosted. This URL should point to the plugin’s manifest file (usually a JSON file).
    • Configure Authentication (if required):

      • If the plugin requires authentication, enter the necessary credentials (username and password) to access the plugin.
    • Test Connection:

      • Most interfaces will provide an option to test the connection to ensure that Prism Central can reach the plugin. Click on the “Test Connection” button.
    • Save the Configuration:

      • After confirming that the connection is successful, click on the “Save” button to register the plugin.
    • Verify the Plugin Registration:

      • After saving, check the plugin list to ensure your new plugin is listed and its status indicates it is active or enabled.
    • Access the Plugin:

      • Once registered, you can access the plugin through the Plugins section of Prism Central.

Hi there,

I’m not sure I understand sorry.

What is the third party system you’re trying to integrate?

I am just trying to see whether the prism central support remote plugin.  Like we plan to implement some webpage which will show physical view of our own cluster in the environment.  and maybe add some function to support certain operations specific for our hardware. Can this web page embedded in to prism central web console as a plugin? Like VCenter support remote plugin, dose prism central has the similar support?

Ah I see.

It may be possible through the Market place / My apps https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Prism-Central-Admin-Center-Guide-vpc_2023_3:adm-components-marketplace-overview-c.html but for monitoring I would keep this separate and not connected to Prism Central directly incase of an outage you’d lose monitoring too.

Thank you so much! I'll look further into the Marketplace and my app to explore how I can make this work. I really appreciate your quick response!

Hi,  Kcmount,  I checked the Marketplace → my apps.  feels like it is helping to deploy the app and manage the app. However, I am looking for to embedded UI to Prism Central web console to monitoring or show the physical view of our own hardware.  Underneath, the UI may use prism central API to fetch info like cluster list and so on.  Is there A Plugins section in Prism Central web console where it provides register/adding the remote plugin?

No that is not possible.
