Installation stuck | Nutanix Community

Hi

I am trying to install the community edition on three nodes and on each one it keeps on getting stuck on this screen I have tried multiple times and wait over 30 minutes any ideas?

Are you using the ILO to pass the boot ISO? (if so, do you see network traffic)

If you are using the ILO I’d try a usb stick instead directly on the units.

If you aren’t using ILO of course it won’t be that.

Hi,

The image has been uploaded via the Virtual Media and plugged in.

I will attempt from a USB however it is taking over an hour to create via Rufus.

That’s weird, shouldn’t be taking that long, is the USB healthy?

What kind of bandwidth usage do you see between your workstation and the ILO? (I’ve seen this be a small number of mbit/s which really makes things take ages for more than a few hundred MB).

The Bandwidth is ok its over a 1Gb connection

I have tried two different HDD and two different machines and they are both taking the same amount of time

Hi,

I just finished installing CE on a 3 node cluster (non DC gear). This phase of the install is right before the menu selection screen to specify which drives will do which (for example CVM, data, ect). It would usually take a few minutes (on non data center gear, my load times were maybe 5-10 mins), but a very big key that I found out is how important the quality of the USB needs to be. I found high success on using more premium USBs (Nutanix recommends USB 3.0 USB, but its a bit more than that other than USB version. Great options include Samsung Bar PLUS, SanDisk Ultra Flair, ect) as using a standard USB will make load times extremely long AND having slow USBs can cause the installation time to timeout. Also please make sure you’re following all of the guidelines regarding storage tiers (SSD requirements, ect) on all of the nodes for a successful install!

Oh yeah for sure, but ilo doesn't tend to go anywhere near 1gb.
