Forum|alt.badge.img

Dear Team,

I have Dell server T350 with 3 HDD of 2TB and 32GB of memory and 4 Core server. I want to deploy Nutanix AHV(Hypervisor) to that server and provision some VMs for LAB. I have downloaded Nutanix CE 2.1 ISO and loaded to USB, cant move ahead of installation after disk selection.

Kindly advise on this!!

Ahh super. If that are the disks then you should go by this:

1 HDD for AHV boot;

The SSD for CVM

The 2 remaining HDD's for DATA.

Disclaimer: HDD is AHV boot disk can cause issues, and it should be the smallest disk in the system. Just give it a try ;) But be warned that it cannot work.

It worked well but upon installation i got error stating imaging thread svm failed.

I have used 2TB HDD - 2 QTY and 980 SSD - 1QTY

Data - 1 * 2TB HDD

AHV - 1 * 2TB HDD

CVM - 1 * 980GB SSD

Can you post a screenshot from the wizard (there where you need to select the disks?)

Hmm dont know what happens. But you can try the following:

Break the installer with CRTL+C

Clean the disks (sda, sdb and sdc) with

  • fdisk /dev/sda

  • d (stand for delete, delete all partitions on the disk, repeat the d command until no partitions left)

  • w (write the new partition scheme)

  • repeat for the other disks (sdb and sdc)

Restart the installer: ./ce_installer && screen -r

Try again.

But as the usb also doesnt have a serial that could potential also make an impact. And there is no “i" (for installer) behind the usb drive. Can you also try to add it as well.

Repeating the disclaimer ;)  HDD as AHV boot disk can cause issues, and it should be the smallest disk in the system. Just give it a try ;) But be warned that it cannot work.

Still we are facing the same issue after deleting all partitions in all disks and written new partition. And we cant find to enter “I” for image.

Can you try a different usb stick as installer disk? One that will show a serial and “i” ;)
