Question

CE-2020.09.16 Kernel Version

Forum|alt.badge.img

I have figured out that the version of the kernel is 4.19.100.  I have also figured out that this version is not working with my NUC11 and the i225-V NIC.  I would like to replace that kernel with the 5.15 kernel as the 5.15 kernel works with the i225-V NIC.  Does anyone have a procedure on how to replace the kernel in the ISO?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

There is no procedure on how to do this. I was looking into compiling the drivers but that wasnt working either. Lets hope the new community edition will be based on a newer kernel.

I'm currently running AHV 20191030.415 and AOS 2020.09.16.

What I did was installing the older version and only upgrade AOS to the latest community edition and leave AHV on the older version.

Thanks for the reply.  Curious to know what version of Intel NUC you are running?  Are you running one with the i225-v NIC?

Yes. 3 times a NUC10i7FNH which have the i225-v nic.

Stephen, did you ever get CE to install on a NUC11, I have one and have not been able to as of yet?

You need to get the older version of ce. The latest will not work.

I tried the older one but it seems to require legacy boot which is not supported on the NUC11’s, unless you know a way around that?  Do you have a NUC11 or NUC10?  https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000057401/intel-nuc.html

I currently have a NUC11 and I still have not had any luck.  I am now waiting for a new version of CE to be published to see if the new version will work.

You can customize the image to boot UEFI, please see thread: Home Lab on Intel NUC11 Kit | Nutanix Community and CE-2020.09.16 Install Issues | Nutanix Community

The problem is that we cannot get the NIC working.

You need to get the older version of ce. The latest will not work.

@JeroenTielen which version are you referring into?

I modified the ce-2019.02.11-stable.img to boot from UEFI, but couldn’t get the NIC drivers to work with i225-V either.

I finally had time to try out the newest CE version, and the installation works with NUC11 without any issues! 🙌

Below is my exact setup + with 64GB SD card.
